Calijah Kancey Returns To Practice; Ke’Shawn Vaughn, Too

September 7th, 2023

Rookie defensive tackle and first-round pick Calijah Kancey.

The Bucs’ prized rookie was on the shelf more than a month, but now he’s back on the field.

First-round pick Calijah Kancey was running with his fellow defensive linemen at One Buc Palace this morning. Kancey’s bad calf, injured in a non-contact drill early in training camp, is finally to the point where he can practice.

It’s a start.

No, Joe isn’t expecting to see Kancey against the Vikings on Sunday, maybe a series or two.

Also practicing today was veteran running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn. He had a mysterious unexcused absence yesterday.

Let’s hope he can go, and there’s no setbacks. Minn has no film on him.

  2. Woodenman Says:

I think we will upset Vikings. How you like that Kirk?

  3. Slacker Says:

I’d rather we roster Ricky “wild thing” Vaughn at this point

  4. 1#bucsfan Says:

Only let him play if he’s fully recovered. Makes no sense to have him back if there’s any chance for set back to happen cause the team or kancey wants to play before his calf is ready. Don’t get me wrong I wanna see why we made him the 19th pick but not at the cost of him losing more time to injury

at this point im expecting kancey to produce like kenny bell sunday.

  8. ocala Says:

Vaughn is not a good player and now has an unexcused absence but is still on the roster. This is just another reason why I do not trust the Bucs head coach to make good decisions.

  9. The Beer Whisperer Says:

I used to have “mysterious unexcused absences” too. Usually on Mondays.

  10. Dewey Selmon Says:

After we get a look at Tucker Sunday Vaughn might not go to practice next week either.

  11. The Beer Whisperer Says:

I wouldn’t bad mouth any of these RB’s too much. They may all be needed.

These dudes get banged up, quite a bit.

  12. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Glad to hear about everyone but Keyshawn Vaughn.
I wish the Bucs would cut him, and IMHO is just in the way of Tucker.

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    See, DS? Was too soon.

  14. Jeff’s grandpa Says:

Why even play the games Debbie Downers know everything

  15. BucU Says:

Kancey has missed so much crucial time it’s going to render him next to useless this entire year.
Prove me wrong Kancey. I would be ecstatic to be way off base on that.

  16. go dawgs Says:

@ Jeff.. Ill save you the punishment and anguish… vikings 35 bucs 10

  17. go dawgs Says:

  18. RealBucsFan Says:

This is the most negative fan board I’ve ever been on, sheesh

  19. Obvious Says:

    Go dog,

Why don’t you go on back to the nasty birds where you belong.? Nothing worth talking about over there? Are you STILL butt hurt over what Brady did to You personally.? Is your girl more interested in him than you? Because IT WAS directed at YOU in particular every time he embarrassed yall and especially YOU. Is that how you see it?

    I’m assuming you’re not a Buccaneers fan….? Isn’t that correct?

And if none of that is it, what is it then? Why are you hanging around here again?

  20. Nick2 Says:

Sean Tuckers a beast I hope he breaks one Sunday he has all the ability and nobody except Bucs fans and some in upstate NY are aware.

  21. Larrd Says:

Get him out there! Third and long … YaYa, too! Can’t wait!

  22. RGA Says:

Kancey back at practice is good, stay away from tackling dummies.

  23. garro Says:

    Joe is right

He may see a few plays but I would rather he get fully healthy and, learn. Then go full tilt the rest of the season. We do have some depth behind him that can play.

    Go Bucs!

  24. garro Says:

Vaughn needs to get his head right what ever the issue is and start getting after it. This ain’t Pop Warner.
