Trey Palmer Film Study (Video)

August 8th, 2023

Bucs rookie receiver Trey Palmer skies for a one-hand grab in practice.

The Buccaneers have a somewhat odd rule in place for media.

Video is not permitted to be shot most of the time at training camp practices. The rationale given is that the video in the hands of media might lead to a dangerous lead that causes a competitive disadvantage.

However, fans can sit in the stands and shoot all the video they want and post it on the Internet. Hey, there’s no chance the Vikings will watch any of it before Week 1. Right?

Joe has to laugh.

There are other strict media rules surrounding Bucs media using video from practices or interviews. Some outlets break those rules, but Joe stays on good behavior.

In past years, Joe would shoot training camp video and watch the film over and over to get reads on what was happening in the trenches. That’s a no-go nowadays. So Joe guesses the Bucs (and other teams) prefer to have media less informed rather than more informed. Got it.

That brings Joe to a YouTube film breakdown of Bucs rookie receiver Trey Palmer from someone with the Twitter identity of Bruce Matson.

He’s got a film review of Palmer at Bucs practices (you can watch it here) though it seems Matson didn’t shoot the video himself and his reviews focus on players at camps around the nation.

Ahh, the magic of the Internet.

Joe can’t say Palmer is having a special training camp, but as seen in the video, he’s got special talent.

Give that kid an end around Canales! He has to be better than Darden ever was when he was here(?). I get there’s competition, but what a weapon.

  2. David Says:

    All about route running

  3. catcard202 Says:

Palmer has tools…But needs to show consistency in being where he supposed to be, doing what he’s supposed to do & finishing plays successfully.

If he does that…Sky’s the limit w/ his athletic prowess.

  4. All_da_way Says:

Palmer has potential so I hope he sticks around.

  5. firethecannons Says:

He will not last on the practice squad

Joe, this SUCKS! Us fans WANT video, we crave it. Holler at yer Bucs homies in charge – tell ’em – THE FANS WANT CONTENT!!!

Man, if I owned a team, why the very notion….I’d let ’em all have all they want. C’mon, man!

I mean, to be real, it’s not like Bucs practices are a Langley secret designed to save lives. It’s football, yo. Tell them fools the fans crave more – LET. JOE. VIDEO.

    YO.

  7. Statguy Says:

He has Sean tucker video posted also

  8. Fred McNeil Says:

Joe’s description of Palmers play is good enough even without video. Where video is needed most is to see line play and blocking work. Joe can’t watch who Hainsey is engaged with and watch the play simultaneously. I don’t often catch key blocks while I’m watching the game either, so I got a DVR in time for preseason.

I think palmer needs a bit of work, but speed is speed. His routes and footwork don’t look all that crisp.

    Go Bucs!
