Underwear Football Season Begins Today

May 12th, 2023

Todd Bowles

So later today underwear football season begins. The Bucs’ rookie minicamp is today and tomorrow (and maybe Sunday, though those practices are closed, if they are held at all).

So Joe will have not just some quotes from Bucs rookies, but also highlights of what the rookies do.

When it comes to underwear football, only for the skill positions can one get an idea of what a player will be like. There is no hitting and no pads, so it’s almost worthless trying to get a read on any linemen or linebackers, which is most of the Bucs’ draft class. Even coaches admit you can’t judge anything from a lineman in underwear football.

And, as always, underwear football can be misleading. Very misleading.

For example, the two best players Joe has ever seen in underwear football were receivers Tommy Streeter and Kenny Bell. Neither did jack with the Bucs.

So with the NFL schedule now known, the NFL calendar creeps towards the beginning of training camp with rookie minicamp, and the beginning of underwear football season.

    Let’s go !

Been listening to the pressers and I really like this Canales guy. I also felt that way about Koetter tho lol. At least he was a decent OC just not a HC.

Enjoying listening to these unofficial introductory pressers for the rookies. Cody Mauch is a character, no clue Diaby went to a military academy or worked at an airport. Thanks to Jenna Laine we know what type of candy Kancey likes, and Payne Durham saying “put me in a 10 yard box I’m gonna get open” in response to a question about his 40 time.

I was a Stud the 1st two days at Spring practice in HS. That 3rd day when the pads came on I went straight to JV 3rd string .

    Lol Ryan !

Bucs played 18 regular season games of underwear football last year due in part to their HC

There’s really nothing to laugh about liking Koetter. Koetter I think was an excellent coordinator, and with less talent than what the great Arians had to work with on offense. Unlike last years offense, I never grew tired of Koetter’s play calling, he wasn’t predictable, didn’t mind throwing on first-down. Just never felt as frustrating as watching this offense operate the way it did last season.

My biggest question is whether Sean Tucker was cleared to practice.

  13. Marques Says:

Enough of the Kenny Bell stuff. You keep beating a dead horse. Leave the kid alone.
