Trey Palmer Is A Fibber

May 13th, 2023

Rookie WR Trey Palmer will make Bucs fans smile with his wheels.

Earlier today, Bucs rookie wide receiver Trey Palmer, he of the 4.3 speed in the 40-yard dash, tried to tell the local pen and mic club he’s not fast.

To quote Arnold Schwarzenegger in “Commando” as he said to “Sully” an instant before dropping him off a cliff, “I lied.”

There are few things, particularly in a rookie minicamp, that make Joe exclaim, “WOW!” But Palmer did just that today in Day 2 of the Bucs’ rookie minicamp.

Palmer took the ball in the backfield — Joe didn’t catch if he lined up at running back or if he took a pitch or if it was a jet sweep — but Joe sure saw the rest.

Palmer took off like he was a missile that was just fired. Palmer absolutely blew past defenders as he crossed the line of scrimmage to the right side.

How insanely fast was Palmer? Joe exclaimed out loud, “WOW!” That’s sort of a breach of protocol for reporters but that was just how freaking blown away Joe was at the speed.

Palmer gained about 15-20 yards on the play as he was run out of bounds along the right sideline.

Palmer claimed earlier today he’s not fast. Trust Joe, this dude has serious jets. Serious.

The Bucs said after the draft they were looking to add speed and athleticism. They sure found speed with Palmer. My goodness.

Imagine, for once, an opponent being afraid of speed from a Bucs offense!

Ronnie Brown, UDFA RB from Shepherd, also is fast, not to mention Sean Tucker (if his heart issue passes).

  2. Saskbucs Says:

Sounds like Gage and the 2nd year guys better bring their A game. If Palmer can lose the drops he might climb the ranks fast.

    Nice!….our new scooty palmer

    So what!!

  5. D-Rok Says:

Speed kills; both on the football field and up the nose.

Sounds like the Bucs got a steal with Palmer. Can’t wait to see him under the bright lights.

May I ask why it’s a breach of protocol? Are reporters supposed to be seen and not heard at practice? Just curious.

There is a chance here that Mayfield to Palmer could be a thing this year. Could be a nice gift for Baker.

Supposed to be a neutral observer. No cheering in the press box (even though Joe was sitting at a covered patio). It’s a no-no.

And unlike Scottie he wont be jumping to catch a pass 5ft off the ground

At the very least it appears that Canales is able to get the ball in the hands of playmakers. There’s a lot of mitching and boaning on this site but I am really excited to see us play this fall.

  11. D-Rok Says:

Thanks for the response, Joe. I learned something today. 😉

As a follow-up question, when fans are in attendance, do THEY have to be quiet, also? (I know the answer from your previous practice notes…”the crowd went wild!”)

  12. Lt. Dan Says:

“WOW!” is exactly what an old friend of mine exclaimed when he saw me at the Pro Bowl in Honolulu wearing a…wait for it…..Trent Dilfer jersey. My friends name is Pat Yasinkas.

Of course not! 🙂 They’re there as fans, not working.

  14. Redeemer Says:

Easy boys. This is May. I wouldn’t want anyone to get too excited. But, I like what I’ve seen. speed is great, getting open with that speed is another.

  15. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

He was a steal, projected to go in the 4th round, but we got him in the 6th round!
He has special teams experience, so he will be right at home here in Tampa.

  16. Dooley Says:

    Palmer is trolling lol

  17. Dooley Says:

Wait, that means Canales was on the staff when the Seahawks had Percy Harvin going wild. Palmer is a little bigger and a step faster though.

sounds good…he can loosen things up on the field for mike and chris…

if he himself can get on the field this season

  19. James Says:

Palmer and Dean need to set that up there can be only one!

Calm down we’ve all seen this before

    The big questions with WR’s?

Can they catch the ball with their hands and not their body?

Can they attack the ball with their hands?

Are they afraid of getting hit?

Can they run 5 routes very well?

    Can they block?

Are they fearless and insanely confident?

  22. Big Red Says:

Gotta be able to catch the ball. Let’s hope he gets to work.

  23. Goatfarmer Says:

Please never let him know anything about Kenny Bell.
