Perfect Preseason For Tampa Bay

May 12th, 2023

Perfect test.

Joe absolutely loves the Bucs’ August schedule, which includes crazy John Harbaugh and the Ravens’ streak of 23 consecutive preseason victories.

Harbaugh is that guy. The 25th-winningest coach in NFL history believes you bring your best in the preseason to be ready to play real football in Week 1. It’s one reason his teams have been traditionally physical and bred beastly trench players like Bucs center Ryan Jensen.

The Bucs face Baltimore in Week 3 of the preseason in Tampa, the “dress rehearsal” game. Joe thinks that’s fantastic.

Forget the toughness test of the Ravens, the Bucs will have to chase Lamar Jackson, which is excellent preparation for Bears quarterback Justin Fields in Week 2 and the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts in Week 3.

In Weeks 1 and 2 of the preseason, the Bucs get the Steelers at home followed by the Jets in New Jersey, two more very physical teams.

Joe hopes the revamped Buccaneers’ trenches produce physical offensive and defensive lines. They should, and this preseason schedule will help.

Come late July I’m sooo ready for football I get excited for TC. About a week into it I’m ready for a game cause practice is getting repetitive, after about the 2nd preseason game then I’m ready fir the season cause preseason gets old fast also. Hopefully by October Of this year I’m not looking forward to the draft cause our season is getting bad/old at also.

  3. Dooley Says:

All 3 of our preseason games should serve as a good litmus test for the entire roster considering we’ll be evaluating players for starting positions and depth for role players. Also, who is going to stop Zay Flowers? lol

  4. Jack Clark Says:

We only get two laughable primetime games this year thanks to the incompetent Todd Bowels, one shared on Monday night and a Thursday night game. Hopefully Todd Bowels won’t completely ruin it for us again and cause us not to have any nationally televised primetime games next season 🙏

National games come at a cost, best avoided

This season the Bucs have alot of new faces that they need to get ready for opening day. I suspect the preseason wil look a bit different this year.

Considering the amount of ‘player evaluation’ going on on this team, preseason has suddenly become very important.

It would be very Bloweszo to go undefeated in preseason, and then do a Rod Marinelli.

The Ravens have a new Offensive Coordinator, Greg Roman is gone, and his run heavy attack with him.

I have always seen value in pre-season games. If we lose them all (like last year) I feel the season will be awful–and it was. I want to see us win at least one pre-season game this year for me to have any hope of watching an entertaining team. Living in AR, now though, it seems I will have to listen to a lot of radio this year instead of watching, anyway.
