Is Devin White Trying To Strongarm His Way Onto The Eagles?

April 12th, 2023

Philadelphia freedom?

Remember when Devin White took to Instagram a month ago to leave ominous photos that he’s on his way out of Tampa Bay? Then he denied on Twitter that he was leaving the Bucs?

Yeah, seems as though Mr. White owes a certain FOX Sports journalist a public apology.

Well, White might be up to more Instagram shenanigans.

Of course, yesterday it was learned White is peeved at the Bucs because they won’t open the Team Glazer vault for him as he and his peeps tried to negotiate a contract extension.

White is entering the final season of his rookie contract and will earn about $12 million this season. He wants more cash and a long-term deal, like what Vita Vea got after his fourth season. White is “fed up.”

Well, there’s also a good catch here by Jordan Dajani of CBS. It seems White is getting awfully chummy with the Eagles. Dajani, writing a piece on possible landing spots for White, noticed White had another spooky comment on Instagram.

If White had his way, his next team may be the Philadelphia Eagles. On new Eagles cornerback Greedy Williams’ Instagram post of him signing with the team back on March 22, White was one of the top commenters saying, “Let’s make it happen.”

The reigning NFC champs just happen to have a need at linebacker.

Other teams Dajani believes would want White are Houston, Minnesota and Buffalo. However, Joe floated the White situation past an AFC source last night and was told no way Buffalo would pay White close to Roquan Smith cash ($20 million annually), which is believed to be what White wants.

  1. SufferingSince76 Says:

Just what we need. Another diva.

  2. KingLDavid54 Says:

    Goodbye, chump champ

  3. CHRISTOS Says:

Buffalo didnt even pay their own LB Edmunds who signed for Chicago at around 17 to 18 mil. So 20 mil looks like a no for the Bills

  4. Da Bucs Guy Says:

The deal can be made for a second rounder this year and a contingent pick next 4th to 2nd round pick for how well D White plays or if the other teams make the playoffs.

  5. DoooshLaRue Says:

    🎶 Wild horses…… can drag you away ….. 🎵

    Please.

  6. Lt. Dan Says:

It feels like in just a 24 hour period White went from a team guy to a cancer. Unreal.

  7. Hodad Says:

So the real question is who would be willing to give up a 1st round pick, assuming that’s what the Bucs would want, and who is willing to pay White 100 mill? The Bucs should let his agent find a trade partner, if there even is one.

  8. Da Bucs Guy Says:

Some rumors say that GM Licht called the Patriots to trade D White for the Pats QB.

  9. SB~LV Says:

    10 cent brain
Lol .. yeah he is more clever than NFL GM’s

  10. BucU Says:

I’d make him play in Tampa just for spite. He’s a bum.

  11. Pewter Power Says:

We have to listen to trade offers. Hopefully there is someone who will take him off our hands

  12. SB~LV Says:

Ig’s have the 10& 30 th first round picks
    a trade is certainly workable

  13. SickofLosing Says:

Dump him. He’ll be a distraction in the locker room. Woe is me boo-hoo. Prime example is Tom Brady having to tell him that the pro bowl wasn’t important. The Super Bowl is the goal he is me first and it shows clearly in his play. Goodbye Devin white

  14. Jack Clark Says:

Devin White wants to play for a competent head coach, and for a team willing to pay him what he deserves, nothing wrong with that

  15. Wayne Perez Says:

Not worth 20 million that’s for sure

  16. Stormy Says:

He has no leverage, other than throwing out passive aggressive hissy fits about being ‘disrespected’ and ‘fed up’.

The Bucs hold all the cards. If he doesn’t show up, the contract rolls over. If he plays lights out, the Bucs can tag him next year with the same tag used on Lamar Jackson ( two firsts, right to match) tag. Let him figure out what he’s really worth.

If the trade isn’t for high picks (multiple) Licht should tell him and ‘his people’ to get bent. Time to play hardball with this clown.

  17. Craig Says:

The only reason I care is because he would make the Eagles defense a lesser thing. It was remarkably solid last season, so they need a weak link.

  18. RagingBrisket Says:

Would think this kid appreciates having played with the goat and getting a ring but no, acts like an ungrateful spoiled child. Doesn’t realize legions of players way better than him haven’t been so fortunate. His inconsistency on the field tells you why he is not a $20mil/yr cat. Grow up D White.

  19. Pryda…sec147 Says:

Dude I feel dirty owning his Jersey about to toss that trash đźš®

  20. SaltyBucsFan Says:

Play good this year to prove I was worth the 5th overall pick so I can get paid? That’s too much. Naw, I’m just gonna go to the Super Bowl contending Eagles, they’re pretty good. They’ll definitely pay me 100 mil.

  21. A Says:

I have zero issues with White wanting $20m a year…the Bucs have to decide if they think he’s worth it. If you do, play the game and get him signed…Maybe its a draft weekend trade (while also drafting his replacement)

We are in “see what you got” rebuilding mode – most teams can find Inside LBs in the draft – really no reason to pay them $20m…I’d rather get a 4th round pick this year and move on…he only has 1yr left on his contract. I don’t see anyone giving us a 1st or 2nd round pick.

    Go Bucs!

  22. Joe Swanson Says:

If Licht is smart he definitely sould be listening to offers. If your not going to pay him 20 mil a year then you keep him and tag him next year you are just going to add fuel to the fire.

  23. Roc Says:

Is White’s Agent the same guy Winston had???

Hey If White wants to go Send Him

If he thinks he demands that kind of money let’s see what others think
Bet we can get anything better than a 4th round for him

  24. Barry Says:

Just a ploy for more money. Not something Roseman will fall for. If the new DC coach plays a 3-4, the Birds will need more depth at linebacker.

  25. Eckwood Says:

@sickoflosing …… Maybe , just maybe He’s been a distraction to the locker room for years . Check Please !! 🎤

  26. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

The Jameis Winston of linebackers. LVD is 10x better and getting paid less than Devin is now. Insanity. Trade this chump.

  27. zzbucs Says:

I don´t lke this egomaniac kind of players…..Never did……But get something of value of it……If franchises let their players go because they just demand a trade, this sport will start dying, slowly…..

  28. Smashsquatch Says:

Licht had to know this was coming, and keeping Lavonte was a bigger priority as a result. Bucs hold the cards, Devin has no leverage.

  29. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

Sounds like he got a taste of the good life and dont want to go back to the slums.

  30. ModHairKen Says:

He’s not that good. A liability in pass coverage. Loafs. Out of position. Missed tackles. And now we know he is a crypus.

Get what you can for him.

  31. PanthersSuck! Says:

Good riddance if you don’t want to be in Tampa.

This is as logical as you thinking by complaining, the Glazers will sell the Bucs. Get real, nobody is giving up a 1st for White.

You are as dumb as he is.

  34. Goatfarmer Says:

Prissy Diva will hold out if the Bucs play hard ball. No advantage to doing that, Jason, get what you can for the Prima Donna Diva.

  35. Conte Piscatelli Says:

I would say best trade scenario would be to the eagles if they want him for the 30th pick in the first round, but we would likely be sending out 2nd round pick with him.

  36. Colonel Angus Says:

    Send him to Houston

  37. SB~LV Says:

Joe in Michigan should not be allowed to sit on a jury or vote

  38. Beej Says:

I think a 2 would be ok (not from the Eagles, as it would be like the 63rd pick) If they find a suitable replacement, another 5 years of relatively low cap, and the kid gets at least one year with LD

  39. garro Says:

Strongarm an NFL owner or General manager?

Um only if his agent is Antonio Brown.

    Is he? 🙂

  40. Stormy Says:

If “Prissy Diva” holds out, it only hurts him. If he isn’t getting what he wants now, throwing temper tantrums and being a malcontent isn’t going to increase his value.

Licht holds all the cards and he should play every damn one of them with this delusional fool.

  41. 97 bucBaby Says:

He will be traded on draft day🎯

  42. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

    Delusional, overrated diva.

  43. ElioT Says:

He can’t strong arm anything. Bucs have all the leverage.

Devin White sounds like and idiot, looks like an idiot and plays like an idiot = He’s an idiot.

He’s afraid to bet on himself and play out the 5th year because he knows he’s only going to further prove that he’s not elite nor worth $100M.

Trade him to the Cardinals for a 3rd or 4th and call it a day.

    What a dumb***.

It’s a pretty simple question that you don’t seem to be able to answer…Why are you bringing up what picks the Eagles have in the 1st Round and then saying “a trade is certainly workable”?

    “SB~LV Says:

Infinite possibilities other than giving up one of the Eagles picks
    Starting with trading picks…. Retard
    You are obtuse

  49. Bucs Guy Says:

Trade him and get something for him now.

  50. FairMinded Says:

The guy deserves not to have to play out his last year without an extension. Let’s be honest…would you risk injury without having some security that they’ll
want you around while rehabbing? That’s what the Ravens kept doing to Lamar and it’s a poor look for a team.

D White had a setback last year but otherwise has played pretty great. I’m a tough LB critic…was fine with moving on from Kwon. But Devin White is a baller and we need the stability at the position as LVD won’t be around for more than a couple more years. Licht will make it happen somehow

  51. Rand Says:

Figures he would be chummy with a player called Greedy.

  52. realisticbucfan813 Says:

It’s funny to me how everyone acts like they own the team when a player wants to get paid. D-White or any other player has the right to negotiate what they believe their worth is to the team and to the league. THAT DOES NOT MAKE THEM A TRADER, CANCER OR a DISTRACTION to the team. Teams use players until they don’t need or want them anymore while making a bunch of money using them. So, I say get your money while you can. All the folks putting him down, if you were in his shoes, you would do the same. LET’S KEEP IT REAL PEOPLE.

Why would you bring those picks up, then? You don’t have to call me names, just give a straight answer, if you can.

  54. Tvan101 Says:

Tell Philly to give us the 30th pick and a 4th rounder for White and a 6th round pick, done deal.

  55. Goatfarmer Says:

It’s been observed that Diva Whitehorse is nowhere near as good as Roquan Smith, who was acquired for a 2nd and 5th. Licht won’t get that for him. 97 said “draft day trade” and that could happen. Our pick and Diva to move up and also receive a later pick. Maybe.

  56. SB~LV Says:

  57. LakelandSteve Says:

We should let the Eagles have him for 3 first round picks. Or we could trade him to an AFC team for a first and a second. If he doesn’t want to be here let his sorry behind go but get proper compensation for him.

  58. Goatfarmer Says:

Steve, I doubt anyone could get the kind of Jack for the horsefool if we were in Madden franchise mode. A 2nd and a 5th was the price for Roquan Smith. The Louisiana Loper isn’t close to as good. Maybe we get a 3rd and a swayback mule.

  59. Geno711 Says:

The two positions that the Eagles, Howie Grosman, has not paid a lot for since his time there is inside linebacker and running back.

It seems a little odd that this year all the draft gurus have them picking Bijan Robinson and now there is this talk of Devin White going there.

Sure, a guy can change his stripes. But I am going with history that he does not overspend for a middle linebacker.

  60. William Walls Says:

    Fly, Eagle, fly!

  61. Mike Johnson Says:

if White is not all in this season, then lets dump him. We can get a 2nd and 4th for him from somebody. You are not to smart Devin. You should have played your tail off this coming season. And the money would come from the Bucs. Instead you want to force their hand. Sorry harry you to much weight to carry. Into the Bay you go sir.

  62. unbelievable Says:

    Trade him to Houston LOFL

  63. Irishmist Says:

Unbelievable is on the right track. When a player for the Patriots demands a trade, Belichick sends them off to some sh1th8le team like Houston or Detroit. That tends to discourage this type of behavior.
