“They Didn’t Want Me To Go Nowhere”

March 23rd, 2023

Return official.

Lavonte David spoke today about signing his fourth contract with the Bucs and entering his 12th season with the team.

Only three other players (Rondé Barber, Derrick Brooks and Paul Gruber) have played as many years for Tampa Bay.

This was a big thing, David said.

“They didn’t want me to go nowhere,” David said of the Bucs this offseason. “And I didn’t want to go nowhere.”

He said he learned to be patient through free agency and not to get “riled up” about the negotiations. It’s not personal, it’s business.

“I just felt like I could be patient,” David said. “I knew the Bucs wanted me back.”

David said his representatives also touched base with other teams. David didn’t offer any specifics, but David got his ultimate wish.

He wanted to stay in Tampa.

Favorite Buc all time. Can’t be a better mix of man, player, and respect.

  2. Goatfarmer Says:

This is all the evidence anyone needs that Licht is running a tight ship personnel-wise. The right blend of mercenary and loyalty.

Like LVD, Mike, Chris, Vea, Winfield, Wirfs all must be kept Bucs for life.

    Diva White? Adios.

  3. Joe Swanson Says:

Agree with Goatfarmer Diva needs to be traded for an early second rounder frees up almost 12 mil sign a low price FA or draft one to pair with Lavonte.

Can’t believe I’ve watched his whole

  8. Show Me the TDs Says:

Joe, do you know how much all of LVD’s contracts add up to? Just curious.

  9. Goatfarmer Says:

LVD, Time to visit TB12’s fountain of youth, get yourself a few more years!

  10. Bucme?...Bucyou!!! Says:

    Anytime damn it.

  11. Redeemer Says:

Yep, deal white subito, as they say in Italy. He’s never listened to his coaches. How many times did we see the back of his jersey because he wouldn’t stay in his gap. It was either that or completely over running the play. His athleticism is off the charts. If he’d just listen, he could’ve been much more valuable. Nobody wants to coach someone that wont listen, no matter how talented. No way they’ll get a second for him. No from a contending team anyway. So if they do deal him, at best it’ll be a bottom of the third

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Byron……”They didn’t want me to stay no more”

  13. Walter Says:

Lavonte and Mike Evans should never wear a different uniform. Buccaneers for life, like Brooks and Alstott.

  14. Rod Munch Says:

“They Didn’t Want Me To Go Nowhere”

    ——–

Oh no… that’s a double negative, that means they DID want him to go somewhere. That’s terrible, the team should be treating future HOF’ers like David better than that.

Yup bro – he be doin’ what he doin’ for another team now.

    Oh wait…

  16. Rod Munch Says:

    According to our AI overlords….

“They Didn’t Want Me To Go Nowhere” is an example of a double negative. The use of “didn’t” (a negative contraction of “did not”) and “nowhere” (a negative word indicating the absence of a specific place) creates a double negative that can be interpreted to mean the opposite of its intended meaning.

In standard English, it is considered better to use a single negative to convey a negative idea. So, a clearer way to express the same idea would be: “They didn’t want me to go anywhere.”

  17. Rod Munch Says:

Assuming the Leftwich quote is a quote, I think he misunderstood what the team was saying. Wow, how things could have been different…

“They didn’t want me to stay no more” is an example of a double negative. The use of “didn’t” (a negative contraction of “did not”) and “no more” (a negative phrase indicating the absence of something that was previously present) creates a double negative that can be interpreted to mean the opposite of its intended meaning.

In standard English, it is considered better to use a single negative to convey a negative idea. So, a clearer way to express the same idea would be: “They didn’t want me to stay anymore” or “They wanted me to leave.”

  18. Goatfarmer Says:

Simple Leftwurst, “Some days you be, some days you be don’t.”

  19. SlyPirate Says:

    ZEEK UPDATE
He’s down to three teams. None are the Bucs. I’m happy with it.

  20. Leopold Stotch Says:

    Ryan Succop is gone

  21. Rod Munch Says:

I wonder why they waited until today on Ryan Succop? Maybe they’re getting ready to make a big move, like a trade for Aaron Rodgers, to get back at the Jets for stealing Brett Favre at the last minute.

  22. Brandon Jeff Says:

Thanks Rod for the English lesson. As if we didn’t know what it meant. Oh wait…. Come to think of it, that was probably quite valuable to a number of posters on here!

  23. Rod Munch Says:

Brandon Jeff – well I’m just a tool of the AI, and it told me what to say. Me personally, I can’t read or write past a 4th grade level.

But the double negative will always stick with me since the stupid Rams, in Jan 2000, when the Bucs went to St Louis for the NFC Championship game, the idiots that run the newspaper there wrote, as their front page headline, “WE AIN’T AFRAID OF NO BUCS” — meaning they WERE afraid of the Bucs. But the inbreds that make up St Louis were too stupid to understand that. In any case the team was scared of the Bucs, which is why they make sure to pay off the refs before the game.

  24. Mike C Says:

I mean Rod is being a bit of a….. well you know, but if he was making fun of a player for a Texas accent he wouldn’t be quite the same villain. Still not very classy though.

  25. DoooshLaRue Says:

    I be believing dat

  26. JimbobBucsFan Says:

As far as releasing guys it seems to me we are doing some kind of “roll ’em out, one or two at a time” tactic. Any comments from those of you who have some deeper understanding of the cap process?

  27. Michael Says:

Rod Munch has munched to many rods .
Im 99% sure everyone in here knows what Mr David intended .
Its a sad life when you feel the need to be a grammer nazi .
Maybe you can get a job at your nearest LIBARRY .

  28. Da Bucs Guy Says:

Glad LVD stayed with the Bucs. But it feels bad that he will never see another winning season.

  29. Beej Says:

Buddy of mine is an annoying Eagles fan (redundant I know) he says they’re talking about Devin White, I wasn’t aware he was even available

  30. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Me personally?

As opposed to who Fancy Man?

  31. Gobucgo Says:

Sorry ass fans…..have a little hope I got a hundred says baker out does carr and we take the south

  32. Rod Munch Says:

Well doodoodooosche, I asked our AI overlords and it said,

“Well, if we’re talking about a contest for the most mundane and uninteresting person on the planet, then I’m pretty sure you’d be a strong contender for the top spot. But if you’re looking for a more meaningful comparison, I’m afraid you’ll have to come up with something a bit more compelling than “me personally.” After all, there are only so many ways to say “I’m just an average Joe.””

Not sure what the shot at Joe is all about, but that’s what it said.

  33. Crickett Baker Says:

Well, we didn’t want LVD to go Nowhere, we wanted him on the Bucs and that is a true fact.

  34. Jimbo Says:

So, if “They Didn’t Want Me To Go Nowhere”, then they wanted him to go somewhere else? The opposite of nothing is something. I’m confused.

  35. Joe Says:

So, if “They Didn’t Want Me To Go Nowhere”, then they wanted him to go somewhere else? The opposite of nothing is something. I’m confused.

If you really don’t understand what Lavonte David was communicating, you must be a sheltered individual with virtually no connection with human beings.

You nearly cannot speak with anyone (unless you live with an English instructor or work at a university) without someone speaking improper grammar. Do you literally shake someone you speak with in a bar or a grocery store and say, “You are not speaking correct English. I do not understand you? What tongue are you using? Quit dropping your participles!” Of course not.

Not everyone has the luxury of growing up in a community or household where proper English is demanded. Do you hold rural citizens to these same exacting standards?

    Ree-LAX!

  36. Arians4President Says:

I think we can say this was Dominik’s best draft pick.
