Keanu Neal Signs With The Steelers

March 30th, 2023

Bone-crushing ways paid off.

Thank you for your service, Keanu Neal.

If not for you, the Bucs likely would have lost to the slimy Saints and missed the playoffs last season.

It was 3rd-and-16 late in the fourth quarter and the Saints were leading 16-10. Andy Dalton threw a perfect pass to Taysom Hill, who caught the ball for a first down but was drilled by Neal and couldn’t hold on. The Saints punted and Tom Brady drove the Bucs to victory. (The video is below.)

Neal, 27, was a free agent after the season and nailed down a deal with the Steelers today.

Neal certainly is a replaceable component of the Bucs’ defense, but it won’t be so easy. Neal ranked sixth on the Bucs last season in total tackles and played in every game.

    Bye Bye get him out.

  2. Buccos Says:

This is a big loss. Especially after losing Whitehead last year and now Edwards. Hard to replace a thumper like that

  3. 1#bucsfan Says:

Should have brought him back. You need a hitter like him. Def drafting a safety early. Neal helped get us to the playoffs n Jordan whitehead helped us in the playoffs both bone crushing hitters. Whitehead helped us to a SB. Need a bone crusher back there.

Big hitter but he was a liability in coverage

  5. sasquatch Says:

    Sidney Brown, Illinois

We need this guy at safety. May have to get an early 2nd round pick to do it.

  6. Defense Rules Says:

Bummer. We’re still missing a lot of players who gave us a lot of snaps last season. The only Safety we’ve got right now is Winfield, plus 2 rookies (Turner, Gardner) from last year who got into a grand total of 6 games. Doubt that Gardner is really a safety though at 180 lbs.

Would be real nice to re-sign Logan Ryan for back there but I seriously doubt that we can afford him at this point.

  7. sasquatch Says:

    @DR,

    Gardner is a CB.

It’s pretty clear we have to draft a safety or 2. Sidney Brown.

  8. Irishmist Says:

Owners just voted to allow teams to play 2 Thursday night games instead of 1, and Mahomes is upset. I can understand why he would be. Luckily, without Brady, I don’t see that being a problem for us.

  9. Crunchbuc Says:

He was never on the field. Let him gooooo.

  10. DoooshLaRue Says:

So where do we currently stand for compensatory picks for next season?

  11. Goatfarmer Says:

He could tackle. Well at least tackling is another thing Bloweszo doesn’t know how to teach.

  12. Jimbo Says:

Joe-Joes, please stop the name calling like ‘slimey saints’. It makes you look like you’re in middle school. And stop deleting my messages because I tell the truth.

  13. Goatfarmer Says:

Personally I prefer Seahags, Fowlclowns, Panthies, Pudriots, Loins, Puckers, Ginuts, Sowboys. Names like that.

  14. OrlandoBucFan Says:

He will be missed. Neal may not have been a superstar, but he was a solid player.

  15. Buccos Says:

Without Whitehead we don’t get to the Super Bowl. Without Neal we don’t make the playoffs. I don’t know why he wasn’t on the field a lot more. He is an old skool John Lynchburg type of safety. Not one of these pansy a$$ coverage guys

  16. Buccos Says:

The Steelers just became a playoff team

I really miss Whitehead, he was excellent his last year. I was baffled then and still am as to why we didn’t resign him. I mean a 4th round pick balling out and developing every year? Isn’t that what Licht said about Dean? Keeping guys you develop?

  19. Eckwood Says:

    Congrats to Him !!
Flat Out One Bad Ass Talented Player …… stuck between sneak rover, floating monster or Light LB …….. Great Talent !!!

He won’t be missed because we will draft someone better, maybe 2 of ’em.

They weren’t exactly overflowing with cap space last year either, and for the money he got (around 7 mil per year), I think they felt they’d be better served putting that money elsewhere and letting Edwards be the starter. I can’t fault that decision, and it appears the Jets have buyers remorse, and Whitehead could be released. If he came back here for a lot less, that would be great.

    More picks for the Lichthouse

We got Winfield in R2. I’m expecting another Safety in Round 2 or 3.

On the face of it …no big deal…upon further reflection…this will remove alot of flexibility in our upcoming draft!

He was terrible. Yes he made like one play all year, but the other 99% he looked awful. Way too slow to be used the way the Bucs were using him.
