Bucs Players Slap, Praise Team In Employee Report Card

March 3rd, 2023

“They’re complaining about the food again.”

Joe got a laugh out of this rare look inside players’ views of their working environments.

The NFL Players Association released team-by-team report cards grading each club in eight categories related to the players’ experience. The Bucs were all over the grading scale.

The great news is Bucs players collectively feel well cared for when it comes to their training and conditioning staff. That’s huge. For strength coaches to get an “A” speaks volumes, and high grades came along for the trainers and the quality of the weight room.

But elsewhere the team took a nose dive. They are one of five teams to fail “travel.”

The survey says 75 percent of Bucs players feel like they have enough room to spread out while traveling, and the Bucs are one of six clubs requiring certain players to have roommates on the road. Tampa Bay also was listed as one of seven teams not offering first-class seats to players.

The Bucs also got a “D” for food/nutrition, including ranking 25th in the league in food quality.

Joe finds that inexcusable. C’mon, Bucs! Healthy, quality food variety (and enough food) should be an easy fix and a priority. Apparently, one of four Bucs claim there is not enough room in the cafeteria.

Joe can only imagine how the Bucs’ grades would have been worse if Antonio Brown was on the team last season.

Maybe, just maybe Joe, they want junk food and aren’t getting it.

  2. Bojim Says:

That’s really surprising. I was thinking chefs, private planes etc.

  3. Mort Says:

Room for improvement, but at least they aren’t the Commanders or the Cards. LOL

  4. miken Says:

Man, Bush league and I’m surprised. Super Bowl champs and had Brady. This smells like the Culverhouse management team is still there. The company I work for is the worst, and they stopped making us have roomates on conference trips in 2002.

  5. BucBoy Says:

What a bunch of prima donnas.

  6. Dooley Says:

If I ever brought a report card like this home back in the day, my parents wouldve punished me lol honestly A & B grades in strength, training staff and room is like touting your A-grades in Art & Gym while your core subject grades stink. Not surprised tho, having worked in several service industries in the past and seeing owners/managers take questionable cost cutting measures with no regard for it’s effect on quality opened my eyes as a young adult. Haven’t eaten at a Red Lobster since lol

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Perhaps the large number of older players & players who had experiences elsewhere cost the Bucs on food & travel……the younger players wouldn’t have much basis for comparison…

    But….food & travel are two easy fixes…..

  8. Gbobucsfan Says:

Can’t they bring their own lunch like 99% of society? Haha

  9. TheBucsAnthem Says:

What happened to One Buc Place being a “World Class” facility when they opened it?????? Did they let it go down the drain or what??????

  10. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I bet if a “normal” average citizen went there….they’d probably think it was amazing.

  11. TheBucsAnthem Says:

This is ABSOLUTELY Hillarious from this report:

“The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are ranked 26th in our team guide. The highest graded areas of their operations are the weight room, the strength coaches and training staff. Besides those three things, players would like to see improvement in nearly every other aspect of their operations. For example, they do not offer any childcare or a family room for players’ families, unlike most NFL clubs. Players feel their locker room is small and outdated and their travel policies are uncomfortable– they are one of 6 teams that make a large segment of their players have roommates for road games and one of 8 teams that do not offer players first class seats”

That is just too damn funny……..they don’t offer them “first class seats”……

AHA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!

……..this report makes the players look like Prima Donnas………..It’s no wonder Donvan Smith cannot block on Sundays……because he’s blocking the whole time in his seat in the airplane for space!!!!!!……he’s exhausted by game time!!!!!

  12. View from 132 Says:

How do you get an F in travel with charter flights? Did the drink cart not offer cocaine?

  13. Tim Says:

For everyone complaining about the players evaluation of the Bucs facilities and family treatment, etc. just remember word gets around the league. When these guys talk to each other, guys that leave to go to another team will talk about this stuff, and it could affect whether some guys would want to come here or another team. And don’t forget, they’re making beaucoup bucks to not offer the very best. You want other players (not to mention their families) to get excited about coming here? MAKE SURE you offer the very best facilities, family treatment, etc. First class all the way. Consider it an investment. Do that and more quality players will come. Better players=more wins=more fans, more prime time games, etc=MORE MONEY.

  14. Allbuccedup Says:

Maybe thats the real reason Tyron and Hall stink because of malnutrition.

  15. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Funny stuff Anthem!

  16. Darin Says:

They can always try a different line of work

  17. Infomeplease Says:

???? Training staff and weight coaches get high grades and these players are injured more than almost every other team!! Go figure!

  18. geno711 Says:

    Joe a question.

I know Bruce Arians was big on letting family come to practice on Saturday walk throughs. Did Bowles keep up that tradition?

Because I could easily see a huge drop off in treatment of family grade if that changed from one year to the next year.

  19. Infomeplease Says:

Correction: Training staff and strength coaches!!

  20. geno711 Says:

Infomeplease: Where are your statistics to suggest that the Bucs players are injured more than almost every other team?

It could also be that players on the Bucs liked the training staff because they allowed them to heal from injuries and not force them to play as much as other NFL training staffs may push players to suit up and play.

  21. Steven007 Says:

Obviously very subjective grades. So many here rant about what they perceive as terrible strength and conditioning guys, mostly due to recurrent hamstring issues. Yet the players love them apparently. And I think the travel thing is probably skewed from international travel which isn’t pleasant for anyone. Hard to see how flying on a private plane could be all that different amongst the teams but perhaps. The food thing I also take with a grain of salt. I ate at their cafeteria a few years ago when I was invited to a function. Some of the players were in their eating as well. Seemed like pretty much anything I could have wanted I could have had. But maybe things have changed in the interim? Anyways, relationships have a lot to do with it. If they love their training staff, even if they’re not great they’re going to rate them high. Ditto in the other areas. I would take the whole thing with a grain of salt.

  22. Brandon Says:

Considering this is opinion, it is entirely possible the FOOD/NUTRITION is on point and the players don’t actually KNOW how they should be eating.

  23. Joe Says:

Considering this is opinion, it is entirely possible the FOOD/NUTRITION is on point and the players don’t actually KNOW how they should be eating.

The lack of first class is BS. Joe’s been on a team plane (once). They’re not sitting in coach seats, trust Joe. They are not assigned to steerage. Those seats are massive and damn near recliners.

Joe sees (doesn’t get to partake) the food. The nutritional complaint may have merit.

  24. Da Bucs Guy Says:

    @joe

Was Brady’s health guru in charge of that? I would give avocado ice cream a D as well.

  25. Voice of Truth Says:

Bet Brady didn’t share a room!

You’d think we could charter a plane with the money dripping from the Glazer family

Does sound a lot like the Culverhouse days

    Penny wise and pound foolish

  26. Keimosabe Says:

These guys making millions of dollars and complaining there’s no daycare provided???? Hate to see these guys in the “real” world

  27. Tye Says:

  28. Gofortheface30 Says:

The only one I have a huge beef with is having roommates on the road. That is kid shi. I travel a bit for work, whether it’s annual kickoffs or user conferences/trade shows. 2-3 of us at a booth, whatever, and I’ll be god damned if I’m rooming with anyone. It’s incredibly cheap and a huge put off. Not trying to be with my coworkers 24×7 and sleeping in the same room with them. That’s f’ing weird

  29. DenOfDepressionAgain Says:

They DO charter planes, and I think the big issue is the room sharing on the road. On one hand it builds camaraderie and team rapport, but on the other these are professionals. I wouldn’t share a room on my business trips.

  30. Mike C Says:

Keimoosabe “hate to see them in the real world ” we would hate to see you on the field so I suppose all is fair.

  31. Digger Says:

I’ve had lunch at OBP a few times. The cafeteria is massive, the tables and leather chairs, plates, cups, etc all sport the logo. The variety of food on the line is ridiculous and there was a nutritionist standing there instructing the players on choices. The room can easily fit 200 people and the food was delicious. If they think the locker room is small, I don’t know what they want

Hell, even the food in the media room was a nice touch

  32. unbelievable Says:

Honestly I’m surprised that Food and Treatment of family would be graded so low.

But at the same time, we have no idea what criteria these grades are based on, or what the players’ gripes were… so it’s kind of meaningless. I went to the link, and the only category that gave much info was on the family stuff. Apparently the Bucs have no childcare options, or a room for family to hang out in. And 21% of players believe the Glazers will not invest money into upgrading the facilities.

That said, I find the notion that their cafeteria and locker room aren’t big enough, to be ridiculous.

  33. Joe Says:

Hell, even the food in the media room was a nice touch

This is news to Joe. We’re lucky to get Cokes and water.

  34. Digger Says:

Joe- Media room on the west side of the building. I’ve literally been in there with you. Little hot dishes after training camp practices. Snacks
    and soda as well

  35. Greg Says:

“Did the drink cart not offer cocaine?”

    OMG that was funny

  36. BucsBeBack (Artist formally known as: BringBucsBack) Says:

What, is Brady the only one that has access to one of R. Craft’s private jets?

If you are tied for 28th in a league of 32 teams, aren’t you essentially last?

If the players site food, then they either are getting too much junk food which, I have a hard time imagining the organization doing or the players want more junk food. In either case it is my view that they should be given no junk food. Enough of them find that on there own time.

For a team that has so many injuries, why would anyone be thrilled with their methodology in body care? Possibly, the players don’t know how to do better for themselves & accept any method as the best.

I’d like a bit more detail on what entails “treatment of families”. Are players disappointed that their girlfriends can’t take the joystick of one of the Glazer’s private jets?

You mean billionaires struggle to express bedside manors with “commoners”?

  37. garro Says:

Not enough info on this “survey”. Were all current players surveyed? Any former players with an axe to grind? Were agents involved in any way? Did all current players respond to all the questions? Were responders given an out…like not applicable or not important to me? Was the players union privy to who responded and how?

  38. garro Says:

Not sure getting a high grade for the training and weight staff is a good thing. They’re job overall is to make you suffer. If they aren’t then you need a new staff. 🙂
