Talent On Bucs’ Offense Gives Lavonte David Hope

January 3rd, 2023

With “12” there’s a chance.

If you watch national NFL-type shows or listen to national sports radio, the folks who talk about the Bucs often snicker under their breath, or come right out and say it.

You know, how the NFC South is so rotten the division doesn’t deserve to be represented in the playoffs. Joe sort of understands the take. Unless the Bucs win this Sunday at Atlanta, every team in the division will be a loser. It’s hard to argue a losing team belongs in the playoffs.

But the NFL is not set up that way. So here come the Bucs.

What, the Bucs should just walk off the field of The Licht House in two weeks before kickoff and forfeit the game because they don’t “deserve” to be in the playoffs? Eff that noise!

Even though the Bucs haven’t underwhelmed everyone, Bucs legendary linebacker Lavonte David noted after Sunday’s win over the Stinking Panthers that talent on offense gives Tampa Bay a puncher’s chance.

“I always [have] hope in those guys,” David said. “We [have] 12 [Tom Brady] over there, we [have] 13 [Mike Evans] over there, you [have] Leonard [Fournette], Rachaad [White], Chris –- all those boys over there man, I know how hard they work.

“[Sunday] both of them went off, Chris and Mike. That’s just what they do. Things [are] clicking on offense. Hopefully [it] is a sign of what’s to come, but we’ll have their back regardless of how things go.”

That’s just it. Tom Brady demonstrated Sunday he’s still capable of pulling a routine like The Undertaker and rising from the casket to torch a defense.

This is why you hear so many folks saying they don’t want any piece of Brady in the playoffs.

Results like Sunday and seven rings on his hands give a guy massive street cred and respect.

“we’ll have their back regardless of how things go” and he means it

  2. Seattle Buc is back in TB Says:

He’s right. If the offense can get going close to 2020 form they can beat anyone.

  3. Beej Says:

That 63 yard touchdown to Evans traveled 55 yards through the air. His arm hasn’t lost anything since he got here

  4. JayBuc Says:

The O Line gave him some fantastic Pockets to throw from. If (may be a big “if”) that can continue the Bucs certainly can be a force in the Playoffs.

Hopefully, Leftwich, somehow, becomes unpredictable in the Playoffs. Either that or Brady just ignores the calls and plays his game.

Why don’t we use this game to practice running the ball?

Try every run play and every running back find something that works.

Hopefully they find something better than 0 to -2 yard play.

  6. Crickett Baker Says:

They had some great offensive plays in the Saint’s game. Watch In the Current again. Tom was very happy with Left’s play-calling.

I think the NFL aims to fix the problem of a division champion with a terrible record being in the playoffs. But it is what it is, and we are in the Playoffs.
Yes, our offense is scary, as long as Brady has time to find our receivers.
Teams who can bring pressure on Brady with only 4 guys are a real problem, because they have a ton of guys back to cover our receivers.

  8. Beej Says:

If enough wild card teams win the right games, we could end up hosting the championship game LOL

Don’t get me wrong, I’m psyched we’re in the playoffs, but the process does need to change. I can understand that all division winners MAKE the playoffs considering how frequently you play division teams. But they should just get in, and be seeded according to record. I certainly have no love for the Cowgirls, but the fact that they’re in such a tough division, will STILL finish with a darn good record (especially compared to the bucs) and then have to play on the road, AT BUCS, is silly. It’s just like how silly it was that Washington hosted the Bucs in the SB run. Awful record in an awful division (7-9). Yeah they won it, but then just get in as the last seed and go on the road. Bucs should’ve hosted that game, just like they shouldn’t host this one.

Again, not complaining lol. But there should be a change, and if divisions are changed it should be the way I’ve outlined (or some other where bad teams don’t host games)

I love that Lavonte characterizes the locker room as tight, and having each others’ backs. It must be. Many a mortal defender would have quit games ago and have reservations in the Caribbean for two weeks from now. Obviously these guys are sincere about their brotherhood.

    Thankful for that.

GOAT: greatest of all time on one’s team can bring out maximum effort from everyone on both sides of the ball. Go Bucs!

Brady needs to come back to this team next season. The glazers should offer him some sort of stake in The team when he retires. Give him Darcy’s portion before she takes a lone out on her shares of the franchise.
