Ryan Jensen Activated

January 16th, 2023

Bucs C Ryan Jensen.

[UPDATE: 10:26 a.m.] Here we go!

The news that every Bucs fan wanted to learn has finally arrived. Bucs Pro Bowl center has been activated to the roster. In theory, one would think he would be available to play tonight against Dallas in the wild card round.

Joe heard yesterday from cherished readers that Jensen, weirdly, was running sprints and jogging in the streets of downtown Tampa. Joe couldn’t confirm this but the folks that told Joe were absolutely adamant it was Jensen.

Regardless, this is great news for Bucs fans. Now the mystery question is, with so many centers and left guards banged up, where will Jensen play?

Joe cannot imagine the Bucs activating Jensen on the morning of a playoff game if they didn’t believe he could play.

(Linebacker J.J. Russell has been released.)

[UPDATE: 10:26 a.m.] Very interesting Twitter from NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport (and Joe knows who Rapoport talks to at One Buc Palace).

Jensen will probably play guard if Hainsey is good to go. Should be interesting.

  5. MadMax Says:

    So you’re telling me there’s a chance!

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Even if Jensen just lets Tom wipe his sweaty hands on his butt towel on the sidelines…it will be worth it.

  11. SOEbuc Says:

    Oh snap!

  12. Gofortheface30 Says:

Good ol Big Red – one of the best free agent signings in Buccaneers history. As good as Wirfs and Mason is – they’re nice guys. Which is fine. Jensen brings the nasty, which we’ve lacked all yr. It’s time to bring the nasty

  13. #8's Ghost Says:

I see what you did there SOEbuc…

  14. Devinwhiteshorse2 Says:

Hell yeah!! Let’s go big RED!! Let’s GO BUCS!!!

  15. SOEbuc Says:

Hainsey has been the most important piece. Was he partying last night? He’s a big dude but tougher to spot than the fire.

  16. ModHairKen Says:

    Angry Red.

    Back in Black.

  17. lambchop Says:

You have to put Jensen in at C. Let him set the tone.

This is the boost this team needs even if it’s a morale boost and not from an effective play pov.

Man, I hope there aren’t any C-QB exchange issues!!! It’s been a while for Big Red.

  18. WillieG Says:

Awesome! Jensen will provide the same spark Vita Vea provided when he returned.

  19. Coburn Says:

I think they were forced to activate him here soon or shelf him too next year.. but I’m hoping you’re right and it’s a sign he will play tonight

  20. Go Bucs Says:

  21. Kenny Says:

Big RED at left guard, HAN at center and WIRF right guard

  22. Goatfarmer Says:

The news that he took a ton of first team reps is definitely a sign that he will play. This is good, no, great news.

Now – has Leftwurst been fired yet?

  23. James Says:

we’re winning this game. Let’s GOOOOOOOOO

  24. Steven007 Says:

Shades of Vea returning for the playoffs in 2020…

  25. Joshua porter Says:

@kenny I totally agree and run the ball down there throat in the 4th quarter…. not on first down lefty

  30. #8's Ghost Says:

Tompkins burns them on the deep left x2.

  31. chris l Says:

THE REDMAN RETURNS!!!!!!!!! this should hopefully bring this entire offense a lift and bring back that bad ass attitude to this o line!!!!!!

  32. WyomingBucsFan Ed Says:

Hainsey doesn’t have enough a$$ to play guard. Jensen is playing center and you can bet on that

  33. Anonymous Says:

I’m just not surprised with the news. I would have been surprised if he didn’t play. To me this one feels like we win. I believe we got a taste of what’s coming in the last game and I believe Dallas is done for. Just seems written on the wall since the beginning. I sure hope my gut don’t fail me now….
I still feel like my nails are in danger though. It’ll be a fight. Just not epic. We Win

    GO BUCS!

  34. Captain Oblivious Says:

Does this mean the swelling on his knee has gone down?

Seriously, the Bucs should play him at LG if Hainsey can play center.

  35. Jack Clark Says:

    Break a leg!

  36. D-Rok Says:

OK now I will officially relinquish my wonderment and bewilderment over the year-long inquiry into the Case of the Missing Diagnosis. It is no longer relevant.

Now I better understand how #8 felt during his Suh campaign. Alas, sir #8, at least you had YOUR answer (Suh signed elsewhere), but all I get as a resolution to my conundrum is nothing.

    Let’s go O-line and let’s GO BUCS!!!

  37. Winky Says:

    GO BUCS!!!

  38. SB~LV Says:

Well I “hope “ he can play and this is not a CYA for carrying him all season

  39. TheBucsAnthem Says:

so there is a chance now????

  40. D-Rok Says:

I had placed the Bucs chances of winning tonight at 50/50, but with Jensen returning, I think it’s more like 60% we win. Our weakest link has been the O-line and it now seems to have improved, assuming Jensen is indeed in playing shape. Hopefully these estimations come to a satisfying fruition this evening!

  41. Bucanero Says:

Oh yeah! Big Red is the building

  42. SB~LV Says:

We can only hope BA is calling the plays tonight, we can hope can’t we ?
    Do or die!
BL is lucky he has been issued a parka for tonight!
And if you are going, trust me it gets cold in the RayJay!
I wonder if they will have flags in each seat tonight, even though it’s not the playoffs yet.

  44. Jeff Says:

Raaaaaahhhhaaaaaaaa! Picturing him turning into the hulk

  45. Ed McSherry Says:

Definitely want to maximize the psychological/morale effects= Jensen @ center, right where Brady wants ‘im.

Hopefully the Cowboys-opposition will be fiddling around
    with adjustments all day today.

Just a thought, instead of on the first series, first down, with Byron’s usual-wasted: “Lenny up the middle,” how about “the deep ball to Mike Evans.”

    Naaah, that’s a dream, not a thought.

  46. CleanHouse Says:

Just got my tickets! In from Oregon, good to be home. Hell yes on Jensen!!

  47. #8's Ghost Says:

You don’t mess with the country-strong gingers.
Key piece is they had him taking 1st team reps for weeks & said nothing & it didn’t leak.
I feel like Bucs finally get to run their biscuit offense & it may be tough for teams to adjust.
I’ll keep hoping until there’s no hope.
Heck…I hope even when there’s no hope.
    #8 comin.

  48. I’m not tired anymore we just won the Super Bowl!! Says:

What color Jerseys are the Bucs wearing tonight?

  49. Joe in Michigan Says:

    Cool! LFG!

  50. Allbuccedup Says:

The Bucs will beat Dallas and Brady plays SF in front of parents and friends and lets hope for a different result as last time. Meantime dem boyz fire McCarthy and hire Sean Payton so it be written so shall it be done.

  51. mark2001 Says:

SB..jacket? Sure. Cold is relative. At Lambeau cold is below zero, nice is 30 degrees, balmy is 50 degrees. And yes…up here this time of year, it is Parka weather.

  52. bucs4life Says:

Just saw that Leverett and Hainsey pretty banged up and therefore we’ll be forced to put up with Goedeke at left guard. Shaq Mason is somewhat banged up too. I wanna cry, Joe. I will start drinking some beers now to soften the pain.

  53. unbelievable Says:

Hope he can shake off the rust quickly!

Dallas pass rush ain’t no joke, and I’ve got a bad feeling that both Hainsey and Leverett will not play…

    LFG baby!!!

  55. Pryda sec 147 Says:

  56. TS_Bucs Says:

Super jazzed about this news. I think the best possible line up would be the option they intended to have at the beginning of the year…. Smith, hainsey, Big Red, Mason and Wirfs. Those should be the starting line in my opinion.

  58. Buc1987 Says:

  59. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Jensen will play center apparently Luke G at LG because of other injuries.

  60. BucU Says:

That could be the spark this team desperately needs. The offense has had the enthusiasm of a turnip w/o him all year.

  61. NEfan Says:

Just NO personal fouls. Throw the cheap shots when no one is listening. The stadium should go nuts once Jensen hits the field.

  62. kgh4life Says:

I’m guessing stamina will be an issue.

  63. Christina Olive Says:

  64. Jmarkbuc Says:

    So you’re saying there’s a chance?😂😂😂

  65. SB~LV Says:

I am going to take a short nap, I am sure everyone will be in agreement by the time I return

  66. AbucAway Says:

If the glass eater starts at LG wouldn’t this be the oline Licht wanted to start at the beginning of the year? If he starts, I just … I really hope he’s been constantly working on and upgrading his technique because he is still going to be relatively weak, as we have seen. I Would feel a lot better with leveret or even Hains in that spot.

  67. gp Says:

    Great news!
Now we’ll be cooking with gas!

  68. bob Says:

  69. Rod Munch Says:

That’s big news. Hopefully Hainsey is ready to go as well. Would be pretty amazing if tonight was the healthy and best this line has been all year.

  70. firethecannons Says:

rest of the line? Leverett? hainsey?

  71. Ed Says:

Everyone has to play, 100% or not. Its possibly the end of their seasons and for these young guys could be their best chance to play in a playoff game.

Unless they are seriously injured, make them all play.

  72. NEfan Says:

SB~LV, how old are you. Do the even sell cardigans in FL?

  73. Nate Says:

This team just got old we need younger players!!!

  74. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Called it. Waaaay back at midseason

  75. Buc king Says:

This is a buccaneer God’s blessing

  76. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

He’s likely younger than me…and don’t hate because we worked our buts up to earn the right to take naps! 😉

  77. Fansince76 Says:

    Feakin Awesome news!
    Monster in the middle!

  78. #8's Ghost Says:

    I’m 44. I take a 5-10 minute nap every day.
I don’t feel a day older than 43 because of it!
    Suh takes naps.

  79. Leopold Stotch Says:

    Let’s gooooooooo!

  80. Aceofaerospace Says:

    Bringing back the nasty. LFG!

  81. NEfan Says:

Unfortunately I don’t get the luxury of a good zzzzz midday and I’m no spring chicken. You know how you can tell? I wrote spring chicken.

  82. mark2001 Says:

Nate…getting old… OK. But maybe not too old for one last dance.

  83. BA’s Red Pen Says:

  85. adam from ny Says:

    seriously tho…….

    this can galvanize them boys…

the “dude with a tude” has returned

  86. mark2001 Says:

I’m not worried about him being ready. He has played plenty of games and knows what it takes. My worry ia of course, continued healing from his injury. And that he might try to make up for most of a lost season in one game. Be yourself Ryan. Play within yourself Ryan. And I’m expecting many good things.

  87. SB~LV Says:

You going to be in the stands tonight?
Unless you have access to the club seats and their inside the stadium snack bars, it’s is bone chilling in the stands

  88. SB~LV Says:

    Just shy of 75 👴
    and the nap was sweet!
