Niners Win Is Good Tom Brady Repellant

January 23rd, 2023

After taking down the Cowboys last night, the 49ers have won 12 straight games and are back in the NFC title game — again.

So why the hell would they want a new quarterback?

It’s a beautiful thing.

Once upon a time in 2020, Tom Brady wanted to play for the 49ers but they passed and rolled with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who had led the 49ers to the Super Bowl the previous season.

This year, Garoppolo got hurt (again) after he took over for injured starter Trey Lance. So the 49ers have won most of their games on this streak with third-string rookie QB Brock Purdy, the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Purdy may be more popular right now in the greater San Francisco area than Brady could ever hope to be. Niners fans are manic and Joe suspects Purdy’s win last night cemented their love of him — and their disinterest in old man Brady.

Brady is a pending free agent and the Niners are considered to be on his list of preferred destinations. Brady’s parents live less than 30 minutes from team headquarters.

But why/how would 49ers GM John Lynch want to stunt Purdy’s development and risk team chemistry by adding Brady in the offseason? It makes no sense.

Barring a bizarre happening in the NFC title game next week, Joe believes the 49ers will have no interest in Brady this offseason. That’s another team to cross off the list of potential Brady suitors, which helps the Bucs’ chances of retaining him.

That was probably Purdy’s worst performance of his very, very young career.

Will be interesting to see how he plays next week.

  2. unbelievable Says:

But I agree- then continuing to win lessens the chance of a raft going there.

Still seems like Miami is in okay no matter what they say publicly about Tua.

  3. unbelievable Says:

*lessens the chance of Brady going there

    Dang autocorrect

  4. Jabroni Tony Says:

Brady is not coming back to the Toilet Bowl

  5. Goatfarmer Says:

Glad the Glazers were prescient and hired John Lynch to replace Mark Dumbestnik.

    Oh, wait.

  6. Vlad The Impaler Says:

Biggest difference between the 49ers/Cowboys and the Bucs is:
    * Those teams don’t peter out as the game goes on or start slow
    * Those teams play with consistent effort.
    * Those teams D-lines are just sick and intimidating
    * Those teams have few penalties
    * Those teams seem motivated
    * Those teams can run the ball

    Both teams played solid games

  7. The Anomaly Says:

Edelman flat out said Brady isn’t coming back

    Move on goobers

  8. Vlad The Impaler Says:

Carrot Top said Ozzy is going to tour again

  9. Tye Says:

So many reports say Tom Brady is a smart man…
IF true, Brady is NOT signing up to play for a loser HC ‘Toilet’ Todd!

  10. Go Bucs Go Says:

To be honest, Purdy is really walking on thin ice that could break at any time during this playoff run. Luckily, his teammates are playing hard for him.

If this season yields any other scenario other than Super Bowl win, Shanahan may finally pull the trigger and sign Brady for a year to get over the hump.

    Go Bucs!

  11. sasquatch Says:

    Move on.

  12. Crickett Baker Says:

I always figured he would never play for the Niners as they dissed him before. I figured if he did not retire nor play for the Bucs that he would go to Miami. I am sick of opinionating and listening to soo many others doing the same, though. I just am awaiting his decision now.

  13. Joe Says:

    Vlad:

    * Those teams tackle.

  14. Delusional Intelligence Says:

Any interest on “Mr. 7 Rings” behalf will be predicated on who our OC is in my delusional opinion. I also am on the fence if I even would want him back. I belong to the Belicheat school of thinking. I’d rather get rid of him a year too early, than a year too late. Too many games this season were won & lost because of Brady looking more like Dilfer than the Goat and NO ONE on the team is going to throw Tommy under the bus, except the Guy who wears a Kango. Would love to hear what Bruce Almighty has to say on the subject.

  15. LastDance Says:

Purdy did not look good. Kittle saved his azz and probably the game with that catch. They will need a QB because they won’t win the SB AGAIN. They will never win the SB without an elite QB because they will have to play someone from the AFC — Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Brady (in Miami or LV… see what I did there!). Though, Allen has looked like he plays for the Bucs the last month. HAHA

  16. Bucsfan13 Says:

49ers isn’t one of his preferred destinations this year. It one of the media’s creation for his destinations. Maybe three years ago,
it was a destination, but they passed on him. Brady’s personal life has changed drastically. He’s a newly divorced man sharing joint custody with his kids who live in FL with their mother, and he has a son in NY. Divorce is always the hardest on the kids. It’s been reported that Brady wants the kids to have easy access to him. It’s why his ex wife moved into a house across the street from Brady’s mega mansion being built in Miami.

Brady has too much pride to be turned by the team three teams. They passed him in the draft and during his first free agency. LV is also not on the list for the same reason SF isn’t an option. West Coast teams aren’t an option.

The fact is there isn’t some robust market for Brady. Tua is coming back to Miami. The media has even stopped reporting that the Dolphins are an option. I’m a huge Brady fan, but the film he put out this season wasn’t the best. Yes, a better OC would have helped, but as someone who’s followed his entire career, saw more regression. Uneducated fans want to point to his arm being the biggest issues. That’s not the issue at all. His legs aren’t the same at all. Brady was never “immobile.” He had the best pocket awareness and mobility outside of the great Dan Marino. He could extend plays with his legs. I’ve still seen flashes, but it’s not the same.

It’s either the Bucs or bust. That’s why he’s gonna retire. Brady’s legacy is cemented in stone, but the more he continues to play. The more the incorrect narrative on his career continues to thrive, and him jumping to another team reeks of Lebron. Brady doesn’t need to ring chase. His playing right now because he has an addiction to the game. Hopefully, his circle performs an intervention.

  17. Go Bucs Go Says:

    My hunch still says 49ers.

He wants to be close to his other family that is his parents. His kids are all grown up and taken care of by their moms (Jack with Moynahan in NY, Benjamin and Vivian with Gisele in Miami). Remember he chose football over this part of family anyway. Beside, his idol Steve Young can help the situation with 49ers for Tom and Brian Griese is now the QB coach there whom he used to back up at Michigan.

I guess it is just a case of love and hatred relationship with 49ers.

    Go Bucs!

  18. Fan_from_India Says:

Niners D held Dallas to 12 points. We scored 14 last week and could have been winners if our D was also at the same level. Strange that Joe never questions the D when it is two years in a row now that the season ending game has featured pathetic defence.

  19. SOEbuc Says:

BUCS MUST HAVE BRADY!!! $35M dead cap hit if he is not resigned before the void date.

  20. Defense Rules Says:

Bucsfan13 … Brady’s ‘playing right now because he has an addiction to the game’ says it all. But I suspect that this year with the Bucs opened his eyes that all good things must end. Tommy’s toast without an All-Star cast to protect him & support him, and that’s NOT the Bucs. Gut feel is that he’ll probably retire for good, but even IF he continues to play, it won’t be here.

  21. Defense Rules Says:

SOEbuc … Remember the old Fram filter commercial … ‘Pay me now or pay me later’? That’s the $35 mil. Better to take our beating in 2023 and hope that Trask (or whoever) is at least adequate than to keep kicking that beaten up can down the street.

  22. Goatfarmer Says:

    We have Toad.

The Bowels of Toad preclude winning, competence in any phase, and fun factor.

Brady will not play for Blowzo. Maybe if he wears makeup and a nose.

  23. Johnw1c5 Says:

#collapse4caleb. Nuff said. Stop with the Brady stuff. It’s over. Let’s move on please. At least 2yrs of more bad football is coming.

  24. AbucAway Says:

Bradys not to old and the oline was amazing. The thing about it is, Brady threw the season away to get back at the Glazers and Licht for not giving his rights to another team. That’ll show em…

  25. NYbucsfan Says:

We have the ultimate Brady repellent. It’s called Todd Bowles.

  26. SufferingSince76 Says:

Ages 15, 13 and 10 is hardly “all grown up“.

  27. mg Says:

Way too much camera time for Lynch, pathetic television.

  28. Mr. Editor Says:

The more tape that Brock Purdy has, the more opportunity an enterprising defensive coordinator will expose him for the fraud that he is. It was shocking to see open passing lanes down the middle of the field. Did Coach Quinn tell the defensive linemen to do a basic thing and get their hands up? Obviously not. Still, considering the point of this article, let’s hope that Purdy’s fall (and when it does, he will go down hard) comes later rather than sooner. The media loves a feel good story, particularly about a Mr. Irrelevant, but this guy is Case Keenum 2.0.

  29. beano Says:

JOE SAYS: “The 49ers have won most of their games on this streak with third-string rookie QB Brock Purdy, the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.”

You never know until you put them in with the starters. 😛

  30. ViSyl Says:

I disagree, Purdy did not play well. The team played well like it was does. They are 1 good QB away from forming a dinasty.

  31. stpetebucfan Says:

    Bucsfan

Agree completely with your take. And I join you and D.R. as those who believe if Brady has his head together and gets treatment for his “addiction” he’ll do the smart thing and retire.

Next year could be as disastrous as Johnny U or Willie Mays who made fans cry with the embarrassing ineptitude of sports icons. Do we really want to see Brady go down that path?

  32. mg Says:

More job interviews coming for TB-12.
    The cowgirls need a qb.

  33. Beej Says:

If Brady retires, we’re good on the cap scenario. If he plays elsewhere, hopefully he’s nice enough to rework his contract to defer

  34. NEfan Says:

DR, FYI Parsons never touch Purdy last night. Perfect example how a dink & dunk offense is supposed to run. It is no coincidence Shanahan succeeded with 3 qb’s. Under Bowles, they all fail. Your boy Bowels blows.

  35. Allbuccedup Says:

Niners have no interest in Brady they have two young Quarterbacks regardless if they win or lose against the Eagles.

  36. Pewter Power Says:

Here we are in desperate need of a young quarterback and Niners have 3. Excellent job by John lynch. A ex defensive player was able to get that accomplished, meanwhile in tampa…..crickets

  37. mark2001 Says:

So Miami, Vegas, or the booth are better choices. I don’t see Brady returning here at all. Not with marble statue Bowles on the sidelines and the midland state of this team.

  38. Hodad Says:

Purdy whipped his butt, why would they want an old man who can’t move, can’t take a hit? Purdy is a better option that’s the sad truth.

  39. rrsrq Says:

what are the 9ners gonna do with Trey Lance

  40. Tbbucs3 Says:

You must live in Fanasty land if you think the 49ers would haven’t a single ounce of interest in “Old man Brady”

For the losers saying Purdy didn’t play well, he made big time throws and helped win a playoff game unlike Brady or Dak Prescott.

Brady will have VERY limited options if he wants to play next year.

  41. NEfan Says:

Ttsucs, does Brady have a McCaffrey, Samuel, Kittle, Boza, Williams and a slew of other talented players on both sides of the ball? Purdy didn’t beat up on Brady, he beat up on Bowles D and SF D like Dallas came in like a high school oline was blocking him. Parsons didn’t sack Purdy once last night. You bunch of wannabe arm chair QB’s including you DR, take into no consideration the Bucs canNOT run the ball. What team in the playoffs does not. Tje.Bills run game got shot down, how did that work out for them?

  42. mark2001 Says:

Just don’t see any reason for Brady to return here. Even if he can’t find another team that would give him a starting gig for a year or two. The team next year under the human statue won’t do anything to improve his legacy. It won’t make him more money than he could get in a booth. And he is likely to suffer injury behind this O line. So why would he come back here? It is pretty simple.

  43. mark2001 Says:

Human Statue is my description of Bowles, of course.

  44. NEfan Says:

    Statue, dummy, potato, potato

  45. AB Says:

This is hilarious – Bucs fan are like Brady’s desperate ex, just begging him to stay and lying to themselves about their chances lol

    Pathetic

  46. BuckyPhillips Says:

NEfan- why you still here? You’ll be annoying the San Fran or raiders fans with your goat is never wrong attitude. Brady is washed up and needs to retire.
