“I Think He Will Keep Playing”

January 29th, 2023

Former Patriots reporter explains.

On the night the Bucs embarrassed themselves before a national TV audience on “Monday Night Football,” by getting their arses handed to them by the Cowboys, Tom Brady grabbed people’s attention.

In his mandatory postgame press conference, Brady stunned many by thanking reporters for covering him and the Bucs and acknowledging the Fourth Estate’s jobs aren’t the easiest. Many took this as Brady’s coded and forever goodbye to the Tampa Bay area.

Former Boston Globe reporter Nora Princiotti did not get that vibe. Princiotti heard that spiel years ago as a beat reporter covering the Belicheats

Princiotti, on “The Press Box” podcast heard on The Ringer, mentioned Brady’s postseason response was actually a deeply ingrained indoctrination from the Belicheats coming out.

It wasn’t unusual for Belicheats players to say similar words, Princiotti said, because they are under direct orders from Bill Belicheat to be hostile, bland and dry to reporters during the season.

“Patriots players would actually do it a lot,” Princiotti said of players thanking reporters after the season ended. “It would sometimes be a bit of a mea culpa. Like, ‘Sorry about all the times I had to be a jerk this year.’

“The season would end and it would be, ‘You guys have a hard job. We appreciate it.’ Blah… blah… blah… blah. And you’re like, ‘It’s fine.'”

So Princiotti is not moved to say the next we hear of Brady’s voice will be on a FOX broadcast of an NFL game.

“I really don’t think he will be,” Princiotti said of Brady working for FOX in 2023. “I think he will keep playing. I think he will come back.”

But where? Princiotti didn’t offer an answer.

If tampa fixes their olé o-line, we’re back to 12-5 with brady, no prolem mañg.
But that’s a mighty big fix.

  2. SB~LV Says:

Lol… Brady answered the question last week
    With
    If I knew the #*!¥*#%
    Lol

  3. Dewey Selmon Says:

If he signs with the Raiders are they going to unretire a dead mans number. Stabler #12.

  4. Jack Clark Says:

I love Tom Brady, I think we should bring him back and hire Todd Monken as our OC. That will fix 90% of our problems because 90% of our problems came from our offense. Scoring at least 30 touchdowns from passing and 20 touchdowns from rushing would be ideal imo because we need to be balanced

  5. Winny Testaverde Says:

If Brady signs with the Raiders…which I think is possible ( along with Gronk )…they won’t have to un-retire # 12 as they don’t retire jersey #’s.

  6. beano Says:

I gotta give Joe credit. He always finds someone to say what Joe wants to hear.

  7. ModHairKen Says:

LV has zero appeal. Bad coach. Bad owner. Bad Defense.

Payton to Tampa is not dead.

Some players with no pride and fire will be gone. Some dead wood will be chopped.

It won’t take much to be in contention again. Healthy Center. Better Guard. Better 3rd WR. A TE. Gronk.

Fournette. Gone. Some sorry DBs. Gone. Players who were paid full time and played part time. Gone.

They have cap issues to clean up. It can be done.

Just when you get fully depressed thinking Bowles is going to come back, the Glazer Boys will surprise you.

The old he-coon walks just before the light of day.

  8. beano Says:

    Brady and the Bucs had a 3 year slide: 2020 > 2021 > 2022. He ain’t coming back, fellas.

  9. Dewey Selmon Says:

    Thanks for the info Winny.

  10. Roc Says:

Bucs Fans Brady will not play for Bowles

Glazers love Bowles for reasons I don’t understand

Next year Fans will look at the draft by game 4

Bowles has shown nothing as a HC but you know the Glazers get a SUPERBOWL and crap out for 20 years

  11. TombsEN Says:

Again can you all please stop with this Payton talk it isn’t going to happen…One reason why I’m against Brady coming back to the Bucs is that the team is going to eventually have to pay that huge cap hit and stop kicking the can down the road. Whether it’s this year or next, that bill is going to come due.

  12. TombsEN Says:

Can we all just give Bowles a chance, my goodness some of you are quite miserable, I mean complaining just to complain is quite annoying. Get on the Bowles train or not but he is clearly going to be here next year.

  13. beano Says:

Roc Says: “Glazers love Bowles for reasons I don’t understand”

The Glazers had no choice. They could not have fired the two top coaches – Leftwich AND Bowles – when both are black. Bad look. And, the Glazers would have lost all those invites to lefty cocktail parties in Tampa.

  14. Rand Says:

I don’t know what might’ve been worse, the beat down by the Cowboys or the Cowboys beat down by the Eagles. Probably a good thing we didn’t play the Eagles cause then Brady would never even contemplate coming back to the Bucs after such a humiliating lopsided loss.

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    If he plays, he stays.

  16. Beej Says:

Why can’t BA be the OC? He doesn’t want all the headaches of being a head coach (understandable) and offense is his favorite thing

  17. Wild Bill Says:

Brady is a mess. He had very little if any fat on his frame before his personal life turned to sheit. He lost muscle mass which is hard to regain at his age. He went from lean and mean to gaunt and weaker than his normal previous seasons. At 46 he belongs in the booth rather than on the playing field. I hate to see a former great hang on at a lower level. There is a pretty long list of former great qbs that bounced from one team to another as their abilities declined. For his own sake I hope he retires and takes the big bucks in a network job where severe injuries seldom occur (joke). If not a network job then maybe GM?

  18. Wild Bill Says:

Meanwhile we get to see some young guns on tv today.

  19. TampaBayBucsFanSince1976 Says:

HGH would bulk Brady right up and it is a commonly used thing league wide.

  20. ChiBuc Says:

Y’all still talking about the Oline and Tom “outplaying his legacy” Brady. When’s the last time you typed or spoke a sentence without the word “Brady” in it? The old man is untouchable, his minion and him pathetically cling to the past, and all he is to the franchise at this point is a revenue stream. Your wasting your time, your just rewatching the same soap opera you watched last year.. the Brady Show. Yawn, it predictably fails to entertain, just like his play during the season… but please do continue to beg, whine, lament, retweet, and act as tho you you are the only person who can read between the lines. Real football is on, if you’re a fan of football and not just the weak Brady Show

  21. Ugotrobbed Says:

Tom Brady is still a top QB, when Tom Brady comes back Tom Brady will be leading us another Superbowl and Tom Brady will be the MVP! Tom Brady will have a say in our draft and I think Tom Brady will get Gronk to come back as well because Gronk loves Tom Brady.
    I like Tom Brady!

I thought Gronk just said that Brady would not be going to the Raiders.

  23. stpetebucfan Says:

Only ONE thing is certain. $$$ will not determine the decision!

He has taken discounts almost every year in the league and yet he’s pushing a half BILLION in wealth and will easily top that with his broadcasting money.

HE DOES NOT NEED $$$ HE NEEDS TO PLAY FOOTBALL AND WIN.

He’s trashed his marriage and is getting on thin ice in terms of trashing the final memories. Will he got out like Johnny U and Willie Mays? Or will he be smart and quit on top like Jimmy Brown? Well it’s too late for that, he should have hung them up after a story book season with Gronk and the SB season. He could never have topped that storyline. He doesn’t care. He just NEEDS to play,

I hope he does the smart thing for his health and so we don’t have to watch him missing wide open targets with throws behind them, over them and at their feet. And no more game altering ints like the brain fart int against the Cowboys. I like Brady. I just hope he does the right thing.

BTW why should he be in a rush to make up his mind. It’s a business and he doesn’t owe the Bucs anything.

  24. The Anomaly Says:

Monken is making $2 mill a year LOL

    No way he comes here.

  25. bucsbrady Says:

I always thought Nora was cute and never got her just do boston globe. I cant stand Bill Simmons so I have lost touch. Portnoy way popular than Simmons. I honestly dont know a person that listens or reads ringer. Portnoy Barstool have Brady’s back. That means a lot to boston sports fans

  26. vadertime Says:

I am on the Fire Bowles watch. He shouldn’t be the HC of the Bucs.

  27. Tap-Out Says:

@Joe ….do your job and check ModHairKen or I will!!
