“Fast And Confident”

January 17th, 2023

Tristan Wirfs

Inside the solemn Buccaneers postgame locker room, Joe noticed a sheet of paper in the lockers of two players, it was titled “Fast and Confident.”

It had a bunch of bullet points and a two plays diagrammed. Standard stuff, but what stood out to Joe was the bold message of “fast and confident.”

Were the Bucs fast and confident last night against Dallas? Joe wasn’t seeing it, certainly not consistently. And the Bucs are not a team one could say has swagger.

For Joe, the colorful paper felt  like a representative of coaches preaching one thing and players doing another. It was that kind of season for the 8-10 Bucs.

Joe believes Tom Brady even looked lacking in confidence, jittery in the pocket at times and possibly coughing up a red zone interception today because of it.

Overall, the Bucs looked slow this season and missing, at least on offense, the confidence that comes when your offense line is beasting and working as one.

After the Bucs were eliminated from the playoffs last season, they felt like a great team that just ran out of minutes. Today, they feel like a bad team that was put out of its misery.

Like most Bucs fans, Joe’s going to have bad few days.

Glazers must fire Blowesbowels and get Flores or Bienemy. Monken would be good to see.

Blowesbowels showed his head coaching ass in front of the world tonight. His offense was its usual predictable disjointed self but at least his defense didn’t understand their assignments. Resilient? Another word for Loser.

“Slow and Old” was the 2022 Bucs team slogan….starting with the quarterback

  3. Anthony Princiotti Says:

Brady was hit on the shoulder on the interception. As a result, his attempt to throw it out of the end zone failed because his throw didn’t have anything on it.

One term describes what happened the Bucs tonight Joe: “Boat raced”. What an embarrassing way to end the season and possibly an era of the Bucs being considered to be a team of relevance. Its like we are suddenly back in the Lovie era of ineptitude.

  5. tbbucs3 Says:

This was the worst Bucs offense since 2014

Went to my first Buc game in 15 years. Atmosphere was great. Loved being there until that INT. My takeaways on the bus back home:

    1) Wishing and praying Gage makes a full recovery. I was in end zone seats and seeing him try to lift his head reminded me of a buddy who got injured on a jump. Scary to see again and I wish him well.

    2) Jensen fired up the crowd and it was great to see him again.

    3) Our coaches need to go. Just outclassed all season. Running when we should pass then vice versa. Same plays over and over.

    4) Brady was playing to not get injured. I would say Miami is most likely landing spot as it’s his “new home town” as kids and ex wife are there. Team is better. Las Vegas seems too odd. Add in Gronk and Dolphins are a great contender and Brady has chance to win SB with a third team which would be another of his legendary feats. Bucs have a chance but he would want new coaches, Oline needs fixing and pay cap is a mess.

    5) My guess is we are in rebuild mode next year and it will be 3-5 years before we are good to great.

I fear we’re entering another dark era of Bucs football.

Our cap is fooked. We don’t have a QB for next year, we’ve relied on 1 year contract overpaid old dudes to fill in places where we were missing talent. And we for some reason seem to be crippled by injuries the last 2 years. We need 2 solid drafts top-to-bottom to put a decent team back together.

  8. Chris Stewart Says:

You guys really think they are going to fire Bowls after how the National media roasted Texas for Lovie. Unfortunately, he gets a pass

  9. Tom S. Says:

The Bucs were eliminated last season because Bowles called a 0 blitz in spite of Stafford’s strength being…against the blitz.

Then Bowles got promoted because when your playcall costs your team the season you should absolutely get promoted to have more influence on playcalling or so the Glazer mindset goes.

We are….but not to worry….after Brock Purdy wins 6 rings in San Fransisco he can come here on a 3 year deal win a Superbowl in his first year then play like trash and throw tablets on the sidelines his final year

Brady looked frustrated for most of this season. It had more to do with the offensive unit looking crappy since the preseason. Despite protestations that the O Line wasn’t a problem, anyone with an eye for the game noticed that Brady started the season taking snaps in the shotgun, then immediately dropping back to pass. That demonstrated that he had not confidence in the O Line protecting him. Though he stopped doing that after a few games, it was patently obvious that he was never comfortable with the pass protection, just as it was obvious that the unit couldn’t run block either, further complicating the Buc offense.

With the exception of one quarter of football, the Buc offense was awful all season long. Bad O Line, no starer quality TEs, only one bonafide red zone threat, banged up WRs, a RB who seems to have lost quickness and cutting… it was too much to overcome. Making matters worse was the predictability of the offense along with poor play designs. The entire offense looked like they hadn’t practiced together all season long… like Romo mentioned, there was always something wrong or poorly executed on every snap.

    Tom s. Spot on.

  14. lambchop Says:

    @Tom S.

The entire secondary was a step behind and clueless on that play. Hindsight is 50/50. We let their #1 WR get open cuz our guys were not set.

More than the Glazers promoting Todd, it was BA’s abrupt stepping down. That was a blindside that cost us this season.

  15. steele Says:

Thank you, PassingThru, you nailed it. That was the season.

  16. Steven L. Benner Says:

What an upsetting game!!! Not even close….a Blow Out! The entire team just looked like they ran out of steam after the 1st Quarter. We started great- got pressure on Dak Prescott but then let him have his way- even running in for a Touchdown! The team tried to make something happen with 2 minutes left on the clock….TOO LATE!!! Mike Evans caught that one deep pass and instead of pulling it into his body he pushed it forward! Should’ve caught that!!! JulioJones is just a waste of money- Should’ve never brought him onto the team- he was more Out than In the entire Season cause of injuries. Need Bruce Arians BACK!!! PLEASE FIRE TODD TOILET BOWLES & BYRON LEFTNUT. We’ve gotten nowhere with them at the helm. There was a play where the Ball was on the 40 yard line & it was 4th & 3 and we didn’t go for it??!!! Could’ve faked a handoff to Fournet and Brady could’ve ran & slide with protection infomt of him. Coaches TOO Conservative- it’s the Play Offs!!! As for Brady…l don’t think he will go to Miami as he would have to deal with the Patriots too much. Las Vegas RAIDERS would be a good landing spot as he would be back with Josh McDaniels and not too far from his Hometown in California. I do think that it is safe to say that the “COWGIRLS” WILL get slammed next week by the 49ers!!! There’s No Way Dallas will beat San Fran in California. They sucked against the WASHINGTON Commanders & lucked out with a Win and Tampa was an easy Win for them. Next week their Parade Ends!!! Can’t wait to seen it all play out.

  17. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

Wow, I’m surprised Todd’s timid, passive aggressive, lazy attempt at motivation didn’t help.

  18. OLDE pfart Says:

A waste of minimal energy. The team appeared defeated after the 1st qtr while Dallas was energized and tuned…..Bucs lethargic and looked like they wanted to be spectators for the rest of the season…..Brady could not connect with the receivers….were they even on the same pages last night? Guess we sit back…hope for coaches with abilities to energize a new team next year….

  19. D-Rok Says:

Sad, sad football game. It was NOT competitive.

    Todd bowles = Kamala Harris.
They’re only there to check a box.
