Will The Bucs Be Favored In Any Game?

December 3rd, 2022

Former Bucs guard Ian Beckles.

Very early this morning, Joe checked and noticed the good people of BetMGM have the Bucs giving 3.5 points to the slimy Saints on Monday Night. One popular multimedia voice sounds dubious of that line, and future Bucs lines this fall.

Former Bucs guard (1990-1996) and popular local podcaster Ian Beckles took to his Bucs podcast “In the Trenches” and detailed the sorry state of Tampa Bay after losing to Cleveland last Sunday.

“Our Buccaneer team is not good enough to pencil in a win against anybody in the league except for Houston,” Beckles said. “This season has not been enjoyable to watch. The Bucs are not a fun team to watch. When is the last time we have hit a bomb?

“If the Saints beat the Bucs, is anyone going to call that an upset? Not me, no way. If the Bucs lose [to the Saints], you begin talking about next year.”

Beckles seems to think a big problem is big names aren’t playing big.

“Some of our stars are not stars,” Beckles said. “Mike Evans isn’t getting enough targets. To me, Mike Evans looks frustrated out there. There’s an issue out there.

“This Bucs team, it ain’t right. It ain’t right. It doesn’t look right. It doesn’t feel right. It’s not fun to watch.”

Beckles went savage discussing the offense.

“Seven three-and-outs?” Beckles squealed. “That’s the Jets with Zach Wilson. Not the Bucs with Tom Brady. Seven three-and-outs? You don’t win games like that.”

Harsh words for Bucs outside linebacker Joe Tryon-Shoyinka continued.

“If he was sitting across from me, I would say, ‘You ain’t good. You know why you’re not good? Because you don’t make no [g-d] plays!'” Beckles hollered. “Not only is JTS not making plays, you go look back and watch the game, go back and watch that first drive [by Cleveland].

“They went right at JTS. They didn’t block him on a misdirection play because they knew he has no instincts. He doesn’t know what he is doing.”

Bucs right tackle Tristan Wirfs got mad props from Beckles but he predicted for as long as Wirfs plays in the NFL, he’s going to be plagued by ankle issues now that he has had two major ankle injuries in less than a season.

Wirfs had a bad ankle sprain in January and now he has a high ankle sprain suffered last week in Cleveland. Beckles said once you’ve had a couple, linemen battle them for the rest of their careers.

“Tristan Wirfs, best pass-blocking right tackle I have ever seen,” Beckles said. “A high ankle sprain never goes away. Once you have ankle sprains they don’t ever go away.”

    @ Joe

Point spreads are dictated by the oddsmakers and the betting public. The goal is to have half of the betters on each side of the bet.

“The oddsmakers’ goal is to make bettors wager equal money on both sides of the spread. In an ideal world, when the money is evenly split, the sportsbooks will gain the exact juice as their profit. If all bets come equal, the sportsbook’s profit maximizes.”

The ankle issues can go away. Get Tristan to do yoga

My question for Ian – why in the hell would you take a picture of you catching a catfish? And worse, socialize it? Come on man!

  6. Cchead Says:

Todd Blowes Bucs have been favored in most games. If you bet the other way you would be winning. Fire this sorry excuse for a coaching staff

    LFG

  7. Mike Johnson Says:

I got the Saints having our number on Monday night. They usually do. All they do is rattle Brady. They might have a feast against our O line.

  8. NEfan Says:

Mike, they rattle the Bucs coaching staff including BA. Brady had no problem going toe to toe with NO as a Patriot.

  9. NEfan Says:

My answer is, I wouldn’t bet this team no matter the spread.

  10. Hodad Says:

Wirfs, and Jensen, get them right for next season.

  11. Goatfarmer Says:

    Brian Flores or Eric Bienemy.

Joe I won’t disagree with you with the fact that Evans numbers have fallen this year as well as his targets. However I will make the argument that the targets are down because of the number of pure missed passes. I have never in my life seen him miss as many passes that bounced off his chest or have it land in his hands and fail to bring the ball in. He has also missed some key red zone catches that would have put him in the end zone.
