Where’s Jameis Winston?

December 18th, 2022

“So now you like turnovers?”

Joe never dreamed of typing the following. And Joe is guessing you didn’t either.

Today, Tom Brady, the best quarterback who ever lived referred to by some as a farm animal, turned into Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

Maybe worse than Jameis.

Jameis was a good quarterback for the Bucs, but for his turnovers. He got run from the Bucs because of turnovers. But Joe doesn’t ever remember Jameis turning the ball over on four consecutive possessions.

And that’s what happened tonight in the Bucs’ 34-23 loss to the Bengals. The Bucs led 17-3 at halftime, perhaps playing their best half of football this season. In a handful of minutes, the Bucs were losing, thanks to points off turnovers.

Brady’s turnovers.

Four turnovers in a row by Brady that began on the second possession of the second half. A pair of interceptions sandwiched around a pair of fumbles.

Yikes!

And it wasn’t just turnovers Brady committed. He was often off-target. Throwing behind receivers. He looked every bit of 45-years old.

Brady looked (and played) like Jameis.

How bad was Brady tonight? He was bad enough that Bucs coaches probably didn’t want to pull him and have Blaine Gabbert show him up.

No, Joe is not off the Brady bandwagon. But bad is bad, and Brady was really bad tonight. Maybe for the first time ever, Brady cost the Bucs a needed win.

Joe never thought he would type that last phrase.

Joe, I call em like I see em. Brady played probably his worst half of football ever. I will not however give the Brady haters anything more than this one game. The rest of this mess of a season isn’t his fault.

  2. Bucanero Says:

Brady has a Get out of jail card so this is no problemo. I expect greatness from him. That’s all he has shown over and over again.

  3. Darin Says:

Coaching. Brady hasn’t played good all season. No QB has ever played good for bowles and Leftwich. No coincidence here. They’ll find ways to lose every week. Keep getting against them it’s good for the wallet and you feel better when they lose!

  4. Rod Munch Says:

If Brady played like Winston, it would have been 34-31 at the end of the game.

Everyone QB is entitled to a day off. If Brady has the physical ability to dominate, next week will be a completely dominate game.

  5. Lamarcus Says:

I think Tampa Bay BUCS is the home of the Interception!!!

  6. Darin Says:

The dbs were beating the Bucs wrs to the spot. They know what routes are being run by the situation. Other teams have coaches that will point that stuff out.

  7. shak Says:

brady almost turned it over again but brate reached over the db to pull it down. ball was very short.

  8. McBucky Says:

The season is nothing short of bizarre.

  9. Lakeland Says:

Deep on the Saints bench, where he belongs .

  10. shak Says:

still think we’d be better with bruce and byron should have gotten that job to save us from him because ewww.

  11. Thisisouryear!! Says:

Yes Brady played awful second half but he’s Tom Brady. I don’t expect that to continue next week. In the first half I thought he showed off the arm strength. It’ll help immensely if Wirfs gets back.

  12. Arn platz Says:

Is the Den of Depression back in effect?

  13. alton d green Says:

Here is my Christmas present to some of you math challenged people. Put it all on Tom?????? Burrow had 69% 4tds and 1 int and 200 yds. Tom also had 69%, 3 tds with over 300 yds, 2 ints and 1 fumble. Y’all DO understand there is also a defense and not just and offense and it’s both halves. Blame Tom? Joe Biden got 80 million votes

  14. Conte Piscatelli Says:

He was worse than JW, at least JW threw 30 tds and pushed the offense up the field when he wasn’t turning the ball over. TB is playing scared and it shows

  15. steele Says:

That was one of the worst halfs in Brady’s career, but he’s had bad ones before. Such was the SBs vs. NY Giants. Any time a defense with the weapons can execute the same old blueprint—bigtime pass rush and upfront pressure, combined with any weakness in OL— reduces Brady to what you saw today. Not having reliable support—I mean telepathic good support such as Gronk, or a great RB, or…a great offensive coordinator, and you get this.

It’s not a surprise. He’s an older version of himself. I’ve said all season that the only way a 45 yr old Brady still thrives is if a team is all-in built around him, protecting his weaknesses. This team is NOT. Forget the noise about “built to win it all”. That went away with Suh, JPP, Gronk, etc. etc. It is a generic, badly-coached mess with hit or mess supporting cast, and a patchwork backup OL.Brady came out of retirement to play for a team built for a temporary free agent starter or Kyle Trask, and low expectations.

  16. Oddball Says:

    Brady needs to get laid.

    Simple as that.

  17. Tye Says:

    ‘Where’s Jameis Winston?’

Andy Dalton throwing passes in their game today, Taysom Hill was throwing passes in their game today…

    I’d say JW is where he deserves to be, lost in the crowd of players on the side line………… {hysterical laughter fills the room}

  18. Rod Munch Says:

Tye – Winston broke his back in week 2, and still isn’t healthy, which is why he isn’t starting. Maybe try being less boring.

  19. ChiBuc Says:

“Everyone [sic] QB is entitled to a day off.” More like falling asleep at the wheel and crashing into a wall. I sure hope he enjoyed his day off, cuz we didn’t.

@Alton, stfu with your ignorant political rant. Know the venue, moron. You are WHITE noise of highest order

  20. Miller5252 Says:

But but 5000 yards 5000 yards!!!! Ole 30/30 can’t beat out Red Rider or the Swiss army QB Hill. The goat compared to ole woman abuser and crotch grabber Winston….. Does Brady have more Super Bowl wins than Winston has playoff appearances???? Maybe because of everything Winston did off the field or all the wins he had for the Bucs, I’m sure ole Americas turnover machine will be in the Bucs ring of honor one day! I’m mean how many QB’s threw for 5000 yards and are apart of the 30/30 club. I don’t know what Arians was thinking getting rid of a guy who could throw for 5000 yards for some old guy with 6 super bowls at the time. Just Crazy!!

  21. BuckyPhillips Says:

Give up on Brady Joe!!! Remember last week when you called everyone that wanted Brady out crazy??? It’s over. We won 1. Story complete. Let’s move on!!!

  22. Bucs Says:

Brady is hurt guys. His finger on his throwing hand is obviously hurt and affecting him. I saw him hold it up after a play as if in some pain. He’s working through it but it is affecting him

  23. Brian Says:

Brady had 3 bad turnovers. I int he got crushed when he threw it. I didn’t see all the bad passes you did. He completed almost 70% of his passes. He did cost them the game today though

  24. Brian Says:

Might be the worst take you have had and that is saying a lot

  25. Rick Says:

Why all the Jameis hate? He worked his butt off – showed up early – threw for a ton of TD’s and yards. Was a good community guy. Sure he was picked a lot and we sucked with him at QB – but why such deep hatred for the guy? At least he was ‘our’ pick – always tried his ass off good or bad. Never bad mouthed the city or organization.

Brady has never been a Tampa guy anyway. Did everyone already forget he was trying to go to Miami this off-season?

Thanks for the Super Bowl Tom – but I’m as loyal to you as you are to the Bucs.

  26. Buczilla Says:

I agree, Brady did suck today, but I also think that our incompetent as all hell coaches have sucked the life out of our team like a gaggle of liches.

  27. firethecannons Says:

Brady did suck and he needs to retire please we need to get more mobile at quarterback, hopefully get a justin herbert clone–would love that while we are at lets a clone of nick and joey bosa for the D-line

  28. Bucsfan13 Says:

Brady has to regret coming back. Beating Brady is like the SB for teams. The Bengals D were talking smack about Brady after the game. Eli Apple talked about “they had the old man tap dancing.” I think Joe is going too far about pulling him for Gabbert. Gabbert has more turnovers than touchdowns in his career.

  29. Craig Says:

Brady has sucked all season. It is almost like a fifth grader acting out his angst.

He refuses to trust the O-line and tosses crap throws so he won’t get sacked, but he is a legend and nobody will sit him.

I want to know WTF is happening with Trask. He has a good chance of being better than Brady at this moment, but they won’t even put him in a Bucs uniform.

That is yet another thing to blame on the coaching.

  30. NEfan Says:

78!!! That’s the amount of point the D let up the last two games. Cincy DC made adjustments BL did not. Where did all the pressure come from the second half??? And why is Brate on the field???

  31. HC Grover Says:

    He wants OUT.

  32. Jameisgirl1 Says:

Brady is playing with same team Jameis had. No run game, piss poor offensive line and a hit or miss defense. Pretty much the same results. No reason whatsoever for all of y’all to hate on Jameis the way you do. Brady looks poor, not mediocre this year. Gronk, AB, a good running game and o line make a big difference.

  33. D-Rok Says:

Look, Brady was exceptionally crisp and sharp the whole first half, and the entire team was, even though we “only” scored 17 points.

What happened in the locker room at halftime? The ENTIRE team came out and many players played like crap including Brady.

What the HECK happened at halftime? Every member of the Bucs team came out in JV mode in 2nd half. I was SO impressed after 2 quarters, only to see an epic meltdown from top to bottom.

What happened? Did Bowles give a dull, boring speech or something? Something aint right.

  34. Christos Says:

Ok i know this year the team is playing bad football mostly on Offense but just relax and dont go there.
I m really tired about this, 3 years now have passed since the 5 year Winston era and some Bucs fans are still debating. I mean COME ON. Yes the Offense this year has underperformed a lot and i mean a lot but one game with 4 TOs and we re talking about Brady and Jameis.
Just stop guys just stop. Is like you re not watching Bucs football. Please for the love of sanity just STOP…….Some of you are untreatable, honestly i have no words (after what i wrote hahahaha).

  35. D-Rome Says:

What a silly article! The Bucs lost more games BECAUSE of Jay-Miss’s arm than won.

  36. Dlavid Says:

Joe , you gotta let it go ! Till you get over Jameis your never gonna be well . He also never won a SB !

  37. alton d green Says:

mcbucky says: It’s not really all that bizaar, Todd didn’t like all the hooplah about Tom coming to Tampa. It was out of his control the first year AND the second year. But as soon as he was the head honcho, look what happened. See? it’s not really that confusing. we had a chance to put the nail in the coffin and the Todd the nod said “let’s call a dumbass play. That put the match on the gasoline

  38. Jmarkbuc Says:

Joe working the low hanging Winston click bait with this one..sheesh.

  39. Mike Johnson Says:

Might we be better off with Jameis than Trask?

  40. BucsMD Says:

    A little unfair Joes
It was more like vintage Trent Dilfer, that last Int in particular was vintage Trent.
