The Mike Evans Watch Is On

December 28th, 2022

Struggle for 1,000 continues.

Will he do it or will it be the end of one of the greatest streaks in NFL history?

Since Mike Evans, the best receiver in Bucs history, was drafted in 2014, he has never had a season with less than 1,000 yards receiving.

He’s flirting with seeing that streak come to an end in the next 11 days.

Evans’ season total so far is 917 yards receiving. He needs 83 yards to hit 1,000 in the next two games. And you can better believe that defenses know this, too.

Evans is averaging 65 yards receiving a game. So if he just hits his average, he should break the 1,000-yard plateau.

Unfortunately for Evans, only once in the past seven games has he eclipsed his 2022 game average.

Joe sure hopes the offense snaps out of it and puts up major yards and touchdowns. But Joe’s been hoping for that since Week 1.

If he doesn’t get it against Carolina (and Bucs win), would he even play in last game?

So, just to be sure, COME ON TOM! Get ME13 125 and couple tuddys for good measure and a Tampa win with some play action, hurry up, variations, no run up gut for 1 yard BS on 1st down and PASSES DOWN THE SEAM. that is all.

  2. PA Buc Fan Says:

Brady is scared with his patchwork line. I truly believe that’s why him and Evans are so off. Brady doesn’t even look Evans way because he knows he is throwing the ball before Mike runs his route completely.

  3. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I hope Brady doesn’t try to force feed Evans to get his 1000 yards…..I hope not.

Brady doesn’t need to be throwing anymore interceptions either.

  4. Mike Says:

Put Evans in the slot and let him catch slant passes. Whatever he needs to do to get some quick looks.

  5. Allbuccedup Says:

He got 96 yards the first game against the Panthers hopefully he can repeat that.

  6. bucfanforever Says:

If Brady tries to force feed Evans, it likely be a far better offense than the one where they just ignore him all game.

  7. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ Mike

ME13 doesn’t have the explosiveness, nor can he rarely ever gain enough separation to play in the slot….that’s why most of his career he hasn’t played in the slot.

  8. Jp09 Says:

Maybe he’ll make up for his 75yd dropped TD in game 1

  9. Dewey Selmon Says:

Really hoping he gets it this w/e so we don’t have to hear how it took 17 games to get it. Some people will forget he was suspended 1 game.

HA HA HA HA HA…………good one!!!!! Alota bucs fans totally forgets that ME13 has dropped a few balls and passes this season along the way…..if he would’ve cause atleast HALF of those passes then he’d easily would have 1000 yards already.

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Just send Evans on shorter routes…..or line him up in the backfield and dump it off to him…….why not…..everybody else gets those…..

  12. ClwJB Says:

Most teams have been doubling ME all season forcing the dump offs

The Cardinals doubled him all game long

We dont have an answer consistently on the other side or up the seam to prevent this

This is the largest factor when combined with the OLine issues

Tom avoids sacks at all costs and when helps first read is t there he rarely has time to look off

  13. NEfan Says:

Catch the ball and don’t quit on your routes, easy formula to achieving his goal. Funny someone mentioned Brady doesn’t look his way yet every time they go hurry up Evan’s sees the ball. What happened the first half if Cincinnati? The coaches are his handcuffs, blame them if they put him in run blocking routes and try to win the game 17-14.

  14. Bucobill999 Says:

Bradys cizzock sucker above is mentally ill

  15. Faspro Says:

I couldn’t care less about Evan’s record, we need to win.

  16. Hodad Says:

Is getting 1000 yds receiving even a thing anymore with a 17 game season? You need like 60 yds a game to get there now. If he gets it whoopi, give him a cookie. The guy hasn’t found the endzone since week four. That’s more concerning then will he get his crappy 1000 yds.

  17. Destinjohnny Says:

It’s hard when your gm gives u the worst line in the nfl
It effects everything u do on offense

  18. bucnjim Says:

Brady gets intercepted when he’s forcing the ball to Evans. Just stay the course and get the win

  19. Bucsskitzo Says:

They better get him his 1000 yards. As a very very very long time fan, it’s more important to me that Mike gets his 1000 yds than the bucs making the playoffs. I know that sounds crazy but Is it really?
Option 1 bucs screw evans cus brady can’t seem to hit him and the team manages to make playoffs. Then likely gets demoralized and beat up in playoffs so you get eliminated first round. Do we really believe the bucs can make it past the first round. With this coaching staff I doubt it. And then problems develop next year cus mike evans got screwed out of his record and title cus inept coaches catered to an old washed up qb that plain out is playing like trash. Option 2, they force mike the ball and keep the best offensive player on the team happy and repay him for his years and years of dedication and hard work and show they actually care about their players. Be willing to bet even if they force to evans they still look better than they have anyways. They’ve been abysmal all year running the garbage this coaching staff has been calling. And at least evans remains happy and still actually wants to hang around and keep playing long after Bradys old butt kicks rocks and leaves. Don’t screw over one of best buccaneers in franchise history to cater to garbage coaches and a washed up qb(I admit he is the goat, but even goats need to be put down at some point so you don’t have to watch them suffer anymore). And I’m sorry but one year of making it to the playoffs when the teams playing like crap (so will likely be eliminated fairly quick) isn’t worth mentally demoralizing the best wr you have ever had. Especially when you need said receiver to stick around and carry on and keep helping the team after this dumpster fire of a coaching staff and our washed up qb move on. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate all brady has done for the bucs, but I appreciate what Mike has done for the bucs even more. Any real Tampa fan(not brady bandwagoners) would.

  20. Bobby M. Says:

He’ll get it….Brady made sure Gronk and AB got their stats/bonuses, i believe he’ll do the same for evans.

This has to be one of the craziest things I ever seen posted on this site.

Why even care? I think 99% of the players would rather get to the playoff versus padding one player’s stats.

  23. Bucsskitzo Says:

TheBucsAnthem because him having 1000yds every single season is not just an average stat. That’s a legacy stat. Saying players don’t care about stats is absolutely ridiculous. And as a true buc fan and also a local resident I actually appreciate having around a player like Mike for my 16yr old kid to look up to. Instead of having dumpster fire player divas (ie…AB). Dude is way more than just a player. He does a ton for the local community. He deserves to have his legacy preserved. Thinking he won’t feel snubbed and thinking it won’t get in his head if he doesn’t get it is just ignorant. He’s human and all players care about career stats. Especially if it’s a stat or record that’s never been done before.

  24. Sumosam Says:

Get your butts in the playoffs. That’s what matters.

  25. Bucsskitzo Says:

TheBucsAnthem I’m not saying don’t try to win. Of course I want my team to win. But I also want my team to do their best to help their best player reach his goal while doing so…….why? Because if you want other good players to actually come here in the future that’s what you gotta do.

  26. JimmyfromNY Says:

He quits on routes, runs the wrong routes doesn’t fight for x tra yards either down or right out of bounds. He has been locked down by corners off the streets . His drop vs Carolina was a season changing play but I’ll argue his press conference after the game was just as big as he tells u his effort was lacking after. Something you know as contagious as everyone considers him one of their better players. Brady is forcing the ball to him concerned about his record. He will 100% get the record because Mike wants it. I don’t know if he deserves it maybe he’s playing injured but at a minimum it’s a shallow record this year

  27. SufferingSince76 Says:

A thousand yards is still a big deal, folks. It will be criminal if he doesn’t get it. That said, the Panthers know that, too.

  28. Bucsskitzo Says:

Anyone who believes 99% of players in the nfl care more about going to playoffs (with a inept coaching staff that couldn’t lead them to water in fl without getting lost let alone a postseason win) then preserving a legacy for themselves is just down right crazy. I would completely agree with you if you had coaches you could trust and have faith in but if you trust and have faith in tod bowles and Leftwich………. there’s no point with even debating with you. Sorry but these coaches are pure trash and are incapable of leading anyone to success. So why not salvage something from this garbage season and at least make sure your best player knows you have his back and make sure he wants to hang around after you clean house.

  29. CrackWise Says:

Some of yall forget, Mike has only been active for 14 games this season. Missed one due to getting suspended BECAUSE of Brady.

In Brady’s first year it came down to the last game. Game 16 and Brady made sure Mike got his 1k. I could be wrong on that.

Additionally, it is clear that Mike has had a rough years when it comes to missing big plays. Either from drops, PIs or penalties. I have little to no doubt that Mike will be a HUGE factor these last two games and during a DOMINATE playoff run.

We still have a chance to flip the switch and take advantage of a weak NFC playoff field. Mike will lead the way!!!

  30. CrackWise Says:

As far as those that keep pushing this idea that Mike is washed up.

I got nothing for you. The guy literally is out there running wide open play after play and the ball never comes to him. When it does, its not even close to being catchable and he is not expecting it because when he is wide open the ball is not there.

Take last game for example. BOTH INTs where thrown where only the DB count make a play on it for an interception.

Then you had the DUMB pass in the endzone. Clearly Mike was getting bumped off his break to the outside. Instead of Brady giving the play a half a second longer to develop. AND BRADY HAD ZERO PREASURE on the play. He wizzes yet another ball where only the DB had a shot at it.

Had Brady stayed with the play just a moment longer. Mike broke wide open past the DB for what would have been an easy pitch and catch. ASUMING, Brady would not have underthrown it or tossed it where Mike couldn’t get to it.

Watch the replay. Heck, just watch the game in real time. Mike is open dam near every play. Always has been his entire career.

There is a reason MIKE is one of the greatest WRs of ALL TIME.

  31. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ Bucsskitzo

No no no no………..ME13 has already established himself at the best WR in franchise history……there’s nothing more he needs to prove.

I’m thinking ME13 would rather be in the playoffs than to miss them.

How long was that TD pass that got called back?
That + 75 yard drop = Buc Ball

  34. Bucsskitzo Says:

Crackwise…….. I agree completely. And hope to heck you’re right. Definitely best case scenario. But I think for that to happen the players have to take the reins. Or coaches will drive them off a cliff. But as much as I think Brady is at end of his career I still undoubtedly believe he’s the smartest qb in the nfl. If from nothing else, from his experience alone so I also think Brady knows he has to do his thing and take over. And I honestly believe for the bucs to make a legitimate run Evans will have to hit his goal. And hopefully now that the coaches have been so horrendous all year they’re realizing their jobs are in trouble if they don’t let Brady do Brady things. I’m by no means a Tom Brady fan and think it’s time for him to retire. But also think and old over the hill Brady is still good enough to go on short run to compete in the post season. What he lacks in athleticism at this point, he can make up for with his knowledge and experience. If Jensen comes back and the coaches get out of the way then Brady might just have enough left to do it one more time.

  35. Buc1987 Says:

One and done in playoffs anyways….get Mike his yards.

  36. Bucsskitzo Says:

Thebucsanthem yall act like Mike’s goal is to be one of the best in franchise history lmfao……smh. Mike wants to be one of the best in the entire game all time. Not just in the franchise. And dude is still one of the most underrated receivers in the game. Always has been cus he plays for the bucs. He would probably prefer the playoffs to his record but doesn’t mean he ain’t gonna shoot for both.

And to anyone who says he washed up…………..hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. yall just plain put crazy. Yes there have been moments he’s been off this year, there’s been moments every player in the league has been off. Dude is still elite and and a top wr. That simple. The only logical reason for someone to say otherwise would be because they’re a Tom Brady fan in denial. Mike been open all year and Brady just can’t hit him. Not blaming it fully on Brady, protection is part of it. But it ain’t all on Evans either.

  37. Buccos Says:

Brady will not allow Evan’s to miss 1,000 yards. Brady is fully aware of where Evans stands. The only thing that could possibly prevent it would be an injury, God forbid.

  38. CrackWise Says:

    Really,

So now, not only is Mike washed up but he is also a Crybaby.

LMFAO, if I could slap some of you like the little cheese and wine batta’s that you are, I would unleash a palm to your ear holes.

Lets all be real here, we are talking about a playoff bound team that is have a “down” year on OFFENSE (not on Defense).

IF any team is capable stringing together a win streak in the playoffs. I would assume it is the one that has made the playoffs and super bowl the last two years.

All we need to do is score one additional TD per game this year and we would have only lost 2 that TWO games all year.

Who is doing all the crying? Not the players, DAMM sure not Mike.

Loserville is starting to rear its ugly head once again!!!

  39. adam from ny Says:

mike needs about 80 and cg needs about 150 to get 1,000…

they should both eclipse that mark over the next 2 games…

if they play in the next 2 games (meaning they don’t sit out in atl)

Here is your reward Dooosh, I surrender, your too original and witty for someone like me to waste time on.

Cheers my friend, you can have your two girls and a cup moment all to yourself.

  45. Bucsskitzo Says:

BOAT love how yall comment on just part of a post. My point was simply that I hope both things happen (mike hits his goal and bucs make a playoff run) but if only one of the two can happen I hope Mike gets his goal. It’s very quite simple, to get good players to come to the bucs in the future they have to take care of the stars they have now. Some ppl live their lives by focusing on only the here and now, the most successful people in the world are strategic about their thoughts and actions and focus on making choices in ther lives that set them up for (a much greater) future success. Dynasties are built by thinking long term. Not by screwing over long term star players who have spent their entire careers with the team. Besides as I stated previously, this is an all or nothing scenario anyway. If the bucs are gonna make any real push to or during the playoffs mike has to be a significant part of the game plan anyway. If he’s not, they won’t make it. So the argument is technically irrelevant. In my opinion to reach one goal the other must be met as well. To go to playoffs mike has to be part of the gameplan.

  46. JimmyfromNY Says:

You Mike Evans, bandwagon fans are the most delusional I’ve ever seen he’s running wide-open,on every play? Explain to me why he’s near the bottom of the week and getting separation. He’s hardly open every play. That’s absolutely false.

  47. orlbucfan Says:

It would be very interesting to see how ME13 plays with Trask throwing the football. A young QB who looks to be pretty competent. Unfortunately, he hasn’t practiced with the first team offense enough. So, we’re stuck with the fossil for another game. Bucs will win tho.

Dude, enough with the Trask trolling. Get some new trolling material. No one that isn’t a blatant outright troll believes this Trask nonsense for even one spilt second.

You may think that these Trask troll posts are clever, but they really are not, to say the least.

  50. CrackWise Says:

For starters, I didn’t say he was wide open with separation every play. That has never been ME13s game.

HOWEVER, I did say he is open every play BECAUSE his game makes it so. IF and that is a big IF, you have watched ME13s career, he is a HOFer because all you have to do is throw the ball his direction and he gets open by beating his guy to the ball.

Now, with that said, you have to give him a chance to catch the ball. So, throwing behind him where only the DB can catch it does not count.

There is a reason they use to say Randy Moss was open every play. There is also a reason why Mike has broken Randy’s record.

    HE IS OPEN EVERY PLAY!!!

  51. stpetebucfan Says:

I hope the plan IS to force the ball to ME13 the final two games. Not so much for the record but the TB12 – ME13 connection needs to get reestablished BEFORE the playoffs!

  52. Duane Says:

ME13 will get his looks, touches, and add to that record. Those of us who followed his career know and understand that he drops the open pass more than he should, but he totally makes up for it with the 50/50 balls and his size in the red zone. They need the points, he needs the catches. He deserves the record for all the decoy routes he runs to draw the double team, and for the amount of times they send him out to block for this horrible rushing attack.
