“It’s More Like I Can’t Strangle Everybody At One Time”

December 27th, 2022

Head coach Todd Bowles

Think you’re frustrated by the Buccaneers’ plodding play? Head coach Todd Bowles is right there with you.

Though it was playful comment yesterday on SiriusXM NFL Radio, it was telling, Joe believes.

Bowles was asked about his “cool, calm and collected” sideline demeanor in the face of the Bucs having so many comeback wins and needing to dig themselves out of not just losing, but playing ugly football.

“I don’t know about cool, calm and collected. It’s more like I can’t strangle everybody at one time, so to speak,” Bowles told Movin’ The Chains. “They worked it out [Sunday]. It’s always nerve-wracking. I’d like to have a double-digit win at some point.”

Joe wonders who Bowles most wants to strangle?

Bowles did get those double-digit wins in Weeks 1 and 2, against the Cowboys and Saints, respectively. But last year, the Bucs had a whopping nine double-digit wins, including a playoff game against the Eagles.

Man…..this whole coaching staff is so FIRED after this season ends………no playoffs.

Sorry bucs fans…..but this team ain’t beating Carolina this Sunday.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Bowles should strangle himself…..but he wouldn’t do it long or hard enough…..

  3. Jmarkbuc Says:

    You play how you practice.

    Ask TB12.

I vote for removing the ridiculous social media cam you see on Buccaneers.com

  4. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Hey Bowles

    Just do Leftfoot.

  5. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I think when the season ends with no playoffs for the Bucs and after everyone gets fired, released, or leaves…….then maybe ex players will start talking about how dysfunctional the whole coaching staff was and I bet some players will admit that Brady play at QB fell off Tremendously compared to two years ago.

  6. SB~LV Says:

    He is still here?
The contrast between his philosophy and 2022 NFL is painful, the FACT that he keeps pounding a square peg in a round hole should cost him his job after the last game.
We have been down this road before and it is not a pleasant ride.

  7. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

Let’s just enjoy seeing Tom as a Buc for 2 or 3 more games. Man I can’t believe the run had to end like this, but we got another SB trophy out of it and the rebuild will start

  8. Redeemer Says:

I just wish he’d stop talking. When you’re losing say little, when you’re winning say less. If I were Mr. Bowles, I’d be spending every minute of my day on finding solutions to this mess. Instead, he gave the guys Monday and Tuesday off. Monday fine, but Tuesday too? If they would’ve pounded zona, fine. They looked like wet dog food.

  9. SlyPirate Says:

IF THEY FIRED BOWLES TODAY …

They’d be a better team tomorrow. It’s crazy to think but it’s true.

    ^^^^^^^

Do you actually need someone to tell you this? Wow.

  11. AmauryGuzman Says:

Bowles sucks so does BL. Crazy how this offense has basically remained the same since week 1. That’s inept coaching at its finest.

  12. Bucanero Says:

Bucs win against the smelly-yuck-panthers. ME13 gets in the endzone.

  13. SB~LV Says:

Bowles mug is bad for business

  14. Redeemer Says:

Anthem, I bet those same players will defend Brady. They know you can’t win with second and third string lineman. Go ask Pat Mahomes. They also know you can’t win without some semblance of a running game. Yes, Brady’s play has dipped. IMO it’s more of a function of what’s around him. His frustration is starting to show in his play.

  15. BucU Says:

    Bowles =Very nice respected man
HC Bowles = an absolute disaster. He must be fired. Including the rest of the staff.

  16. Bucobill999 Says:

Only way he keeps his job is to make it to nfccg anything less he has to go

  17. Kentucky Buc Says:

Just do a little self strangulation Todd. That should cover it.

  18. JimmyfromNY Says:

The more he speaks the more u see how incompetent he is. He is in over his head and he KNOWS it. He personally can’t wait to be fired and move on to a team like Cleveland to Houston and be a defensive coordinator and pick up a nice NFL salary.

  19. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ Bucobill999

No way they make it to NFCCG……..they’ll be lucky to even make it into the playoffs…..I seriously doubt they’ll beat Carolina this Sunday.

  20. HC Grover Says:

    He’s a Stiff.

  21. Pewter Power Says:

Yeah well what it means is these guys don’t want to play hard for you. What do you know a defensive coach can’t inspire offense to pick it up or put his stamp on it besides saying run it more or pass it more dude your 4th down calls are ridiculous

  22. Lamarcus Says:

Idk. A Guy with over 100,000 passing can’t figure it out…why do we expect the coaches to figure it out???

Way to naive to believe Bowles and Leftwich has any say so over Brady and his preferred play.

  23. Mike Says:

Honestly, the main reason I don’t respect Bowles is that he won’t fire Leftwich. It’s the most precipitous drop off from year to year in about 30 years. If that’s not enough to get an Offensive Coordinator fired, I don’t know what is.

  24. Trikki Rikki Says:

He should take one for the team and strangle Byron first, then he can strangle himself.

  25. AmauryGuzman Says:

@TheBucsAnthem you’re a debbie downer. The panthers have been terrible on the road. If the bucs are not ready for this game then they shouldn’t be in the playoffs plain and simple.

  26. Iamabuc Says:

That right there says it all, guys. Bowles has lost the locker room. We all can see it.

  27. catcard202 Says:

I still see a window of hope for winning out the next 2 weeks & carrying some momentum into the PO game w/ DAL…But it’s just as likely that the OFF continues to meander about aimlessly & uninspired…Leaving the organization at a serious set of crossroads as soon as the season is over.

The 2023 cap situation is alarming ($43M over at the moment w/ a TON of dead money out there!).. There’s only so much can be done restructuring. Mega changes will be needed (cuts/trades) for the FO to get in position to even sign draft picks.

Many would gladly exchange the future for a PO home game against the Jones Boys…But I’m not that guy, not with this rosters mixed resume this year. I’d rather lose out & garner a little better draft capital to start the rebuild with. There’s a significant difference with dealing from a #12-15pick than starting with a #19-21.

  28. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ AmauryGuzman

It’s called being “REALISTIC” if you look at the Bucs “whole body of work” for this whole season so far.

If the Bucs hasn’t figured it out by now….they simply can’t push the “magic” button and all of a sudden the offense comes life…..it doesn’t work that way in the NFL.

But you know who is playing red hot, inspiring football????? That’s the Carolina Panthers. They have turned their season around and are on fire. The Panthers want the win more badly than the Bucs do and that’s why the Panthers will win this Sunday.

This BUCS team simply doesn’t look like they wanna play every game……they’re just a bunch of individuals/millionaires collecting their checks and preserving their bodies for next NFL season/new year.

  29. Wokeizdunn Says:

Bowles statement kind of tees me off. He should not to strangle anyone. He should freaking FIX IT!!! What do we need the worthless owners to make the same statement? You show frustration UP, NOT DOWN. “They” worked it out???? WTF???? Why is he even saying this to the media/public?

  30. Joshua porter Says:

You can say the same thing about the kitty cats . If they haven’t figured out how to win on the road by now there not going to

    ^^^^^^^^
Yeah, Wirfs didn’t come back…Yeah, Mike Evans hasn’t been playing hurt…Yeah, Brady hasn’t been playing hurt…Winfield, too…You really have no idea what you’re talking about, do you?

  32. Cobraboy Says:

Arians: “No risk it, no biscuit.”

Bowles: “I don’t want no stinkin’ biscuits.”

This is just not a good team, period. Why the “Brady will put it together for the playoffs” from casuals is beyond me.

The Cowboys will blow this sorry bunch out of RayJay.

  33. Cobraboy Says:

One wonders how many players want to strangle Bowles.

  34. 1#bucsfan Says:

I think bowels had more to do with the offense being stagnant than most think. Bowels has this offense handcuffed. Also doesn’t help we have 3 diff Olinemen then last year.

  35. FlBoy84 Says:

    Can’t strangle and can’t lead… what’s a sad excuse for a HC to do??

  36. Anonymous Says:

Sounds like a man in over his head. He never had control of this team from the beginning. He’s not a head coach.

  37. Jeff Says:

    Clueless Todd!

  38. unbelievable Says:

Don’t worry Todd, the feeling is mutual about you.

  39. IrishTony Says:

    @bucsanthem
I’ve been a fan since 76 and even during the crap years I was always optimistic about my team’s chance of winning. I believe they’ll prevail this week because of superior personnel and a super strong motivation to stop the only thing the Panthers have going for them “the run.” So we’ll see how motivated this team is in the trenches and if they can force the Panthers (and Darnold) to throw which could lead to turnovers.

  40. MissingBA Says:

“They worked it out” and not “We” shows how this guy thinks. He is not head coach material.

  41. MadMax Says:

If this turns out to be a catfishing….it will be the greatest of all time and I will sincerely owe Bowles and Leftwich huge apologies….but im sure they understand our frustrations lol.
