Ira is right. This team may not even have it in them to win our sh!tty division. I’m surprised Joe found this view surprising. Haven’t we seen enough from this team? We know that they have lost to some terrible teams. We know that 2 wins were due to last minute heroics by Brady. This team isn’t any better than a 3 or 4 win team. They can’t run the ball, they can’t stop the run. They can’t generate big plays on offense. The passing game is inconsistent. They’re one of the lowest scoring teams in the league. The HC is too cautious. What makes Joe think we’re any better than Carolina at this point? This team sucks in a way that rivals some of our worst teams in franchise history. They are a joke. Shameful. Disgraceful. They do not deserve a post-season game.

Yeah, unfortunately I’m going with Ira on the possibility of losing to Carolina. I think it’s a high probability based on our lack of scoring, Ira pointed out that Carolina has a decent defense, and just inconsistent play in both sides of the ball.
I find it odd that Steve seemed taken aback by Ira’s take. How can anyone think that the Bucs are a better team than the Panthers? They have beaten us already and nothing has gotten better since that loss. As a matter of point, it could be argued that the team play has declined.
Even though I see the season as done, they still have to play four games and if they are playing to get the division and a playoff berth, the Bucs need to win two specific games, back to back. The question I’m wondering is if you rest the stars the first two games and then put them back on the field, fresh for the final two must win games. In my opinion, if they rest, then chances for wins increase. At the same time, if they rest, it’s really a bad look, especially at Home.

Ira, I think it’s quite possible the Bucs may not win another game. Some of the players look absolutely lost out there. I have asked this question several times but what has happened to the Tom Brady Mike Evans connection. He’s not even looking for Evans in the red zone. What happened to the Mike Evans fade for six? Something is very wrong in that Bucs locker room or with the coaches. Our offense went from a juggernaut to completely listless.

The Panthers have a solid running game and a good defense. They can definitely beat us in Tampa. Lee likes to describe bad teams as “trash.” Well, I got news for Mr. DeKemper (as Ira would say), we’re a trash team. We really need to respect all our remaining opponents because they are all good enough to beat us.
In the podcast, it seemed that Ira was leaning strongly towards a rebuild. I agree! If we kept Brady (and this is a strong hypothetical), then we would need to make some short-term compromises that may affect the team’s ability to rebuild quickly later. I say let Tom leave and see what is behind door number 2 (Trask). We should fire Bowles and Leftwich and start with a new coaching staff. We can’t rely on Bowles to guide this team in a rebuild. For next year, we need to move Wirfs to left tackle. He is our best lineman and left tackle is the most critical position for protecting the quarterback. If we want Trask (or whoever is behind center) to be successful, they will need a good offensive line. Move Jenson to left guard, keep Hainsey at center, Mason at right guard, and draft a new right tackle. On defense, re-sign Dean and trade Devin White. White is worth enough to bring some decent draft picks. In the first three rounds of the draft (in no particular order), we need an offensive lineman, a defensive lineman, and an inside linebacker. I suggested a defensive lineman because it is clear that Vita Vea needs a big body beside him to be most effective.
I do not want to give up hope on this season, but the Bucs haven’t really given the fans any real hope to cling to. I will just cling to the same hope I have when I buy a lottery ticket. I’ll wish for luck, but not fall into despair if I don’t win.
