Empty Talk From Devin White Getting Old

December 11th, 2022

All that woofin’ …

Joe is old school. Substance over style.

More often than not, Bucs inside linebacker Devin White brings substance to the table. He’s a good linebacker, usually an excellent linebacker. Sometimes, however, style seems to get the best of him.

Take his pregame woofing at midfield. That looks good if you ball out. It looks like @ss when you get throttled by Mr. Irrelevent, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.

The two crossed paths today in Santa Clara. Too bad White did little to get in the way.

One is a Pro Bowl linebacker drafted fifth overall. The other is an OK Big XII quarterback who regressed each year he was at Iowa State and was the last pick in the draft.

Early in the second quarter, Purdy scrambled out of the pocket with the ball on the Bucs-2. He dodged a couple of Bucs and the only guy between him and the goal line was White, the Bucs’ fire-breathing linebacker.

Purdy looked like Magic Johnson and broke White’s ankles with a juke that left him standing like his Uber took off without him. Purdy skipped into the end zone for a 14-0 49ers lead.

The sad thing about the Bucs is they are mentally weak. One thing goes wrong and this team collapses. Between Keanu Neal’s opening-snap sack that was a personal foul because he hit too hard and Donovan Smith’s holding that wiped out a Mike Evans touchdown, this team was toast after Purdy’s score.

Joe is done seeing this nonsense at midfield. The Bucs weren’t ready to play today. If White did anything, he got Neal too fired up to where he couldn’t think straight when his sack turned into a flag.

Enough woofing about how you won’t allow the Bucs to lose again this year yet you allow Mr. Irrelevent to puts 28 on your arse — in the first half!

Hey Devin, how about worrying more about doing your job and tackling instead of doing a Jameis Winston stunt at midfield? The only thing missing from White’s circus at midfield before games is him eating a W.

All talk. Get rid of him too. I’m sick of their bs. Fire the two token black coaches and get a real coach here. These two suck

  2. Sbucs Says:

Devin is just one small piece of a large clown show

  3. Show Me the TDs Says:

The crap coming out of his mouth has an expiration date that’s over 2 years old. Glad to see Joe is finally coming around.

  4. Jerseybuc Says:

This whole team is ass. Starts with the coach. Thst FG attempt was comical. He can’t hit that on a good day. Nope five em half a field. Clown show man clown show unfortunately. He ruined this team less than a year

  5. bucnut2 Says:

At least he’s not eating W’s like some other faux leader we had right Joe?

  6. Tyler904 Says:

He is very overrated. Had a great STRETCH during the sb run. But honestly the D is better when LVD is calling the plays. White is like Kwon Alexander 2.0 with a faster 40 and louder. Too small to play DE too dumb to be a great MLB. Did he have a tackle today??

  7. Buczilla Says:

Before you do your best Ray Lewis impersonation, it’s probably best to actually play like him consistently. There is no way in hell that I’d give this kid a big contract. Put a first round tender on this dude and see if our new (please!) head coach can get his head right.

  8. RuKa_44 Says:

Another weak minded “play’a” that believes he is a HOFer just because he won a SB…. What about actually putting the work Mr. White?!? What about shutting up until you actually do your job and play decent football?!? What about you stop talking BS and do your duty as captain and straighten up your D?!?!

  9. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

DW is a rhino. If you dont run in a straight line he’ll never catch you.

  10. Darin Says:

He’s eating L’s but if you ask Leftwich they’re W’s. These clowns don’t even know the alphabet!

  11. Boltsfan17 Says:

Significantly overrated. He has straight line speed but that’s about it. He’s certainly replaceable.

  12. Cc13wr Says:

First drive he had two loafs (including the TD). You can’t be the hooting and hollering guy and then loaf on the first drive.

Feel like BA would have called him out for this, publicly. Then practice would be tough on all the guys, building morale and focus on improvement. Someone prove to me that Bowles remotely has this in him. Or does he just go around saying “We just have to be one point better than the other team”? He is certainly not consistently getting the best out of Devin White, and you can tell that even a vaunted defense — Bowles’ forte — has lost its edge to compete for 60 minutes. Bad signs, kids.

  13. captivajim Says:

Once again -he gave the 9ers bulletin board material ; mouthing off that ” Bucs weren’t going to loose another game” . !! then Purdy walks right by him to score a walk-in TD ..
I’d trade him for some draft picks

  14. Lamarcus Says:

Trading Devin White should be high on the priority list next year

  15. ClwJB Says:

He is an immature player and still is very bad in coverage

Our D should be ashamed of themselves _ they got whipped badly

  16. Miller5252 Says:

I’m just glad he’s at least trying to be a leader and get his team ready to play. It’s part of having that C on his chest. Sad though, he’s doing what his coaches should be doing.

But it was sad seeing his ankles get broken by Mr. Irrelevant! Should put him at DE and see how he does. Can’t be no worse than cream puff JTS.

  17. T REX Says:

White sucks…overrated. Like Mike Evans. Overrated

Vea? Get him another pizza or 10

    Team is a joke

  18. Richard Says:

Joe….45 has never been close to being an excellent LB!!! The same issues plague him over and over again and if you, or anyone else, can’t see it you’re not looking very hard….I’m not going to repeat all his issues again because no one really wants to see the truth…he is NOT even close to being a consistently good player. Good players don’t continue to make the same mistakes over and over again!! You can’t name one aspect of his game that has improved…

  19. Bucamania Says:

Devin really is the Jameis Winston of the defense.

  20. Pewter Power Says:

Well should let your talking be done on the field not behind the podium sorry joker. OVERRATED

  21. DBS Says:

The entire team needs to be overhauled. From coaches on down. The secondary has sucked for years and what you saw today is typical no matter who is in there. Constantly leaves people wide open or gets fooled and burnt.

  22. tampabuscsbro Says:

    reminds me of GMC.

for a dude with a lot of talk about not losing another game he sure was loafing a lot today.

  23. Mike Johnson Says:

Bucs suck? yeah, right now they do. We got 4 games left. Lets see if these Bucs can run the table. You never know….

  24. Tbbucs3 Says:

Tough to point fingers at the defense when your O is incompetent

  25. ModHairKen Says:

Joe, correct: they are mentally weak.

  26. Cobraboy Says:

If I could buy White for what he’s worth, and sell him for what he thinks he’s worth, I’d be a very wealthy man.

I get tired of all the talk, then going out to get curb-stomped.

This team is abysmal, and I am tired of them, the coaches, and even the sulking, once-great Tom Brady. I am tired of pathetic underachievement under bad coaching.

  27. ElioT Says:

    Devin White is a poser.

  28. sasquatch Says:

Devin White is too dumb to be a leader or a spokesman for the team. He should just shut up.

  29. Noles Says:

Well must have been a hell of a speech… 😂

    Empty words

  30. Jack Sparrow Says:

Devin White is a sh*t. All bark and no bite. Overrated. Overpaid. Underperforming.

  31. LakelandSteve Says:

Barrett Rudd was a better linebacker tackling in the open field. Granted most of his tackles were 10 yards downfield but if he had you in his sights you were going down. Devin White won a Super Bowl early in his career and was told how great he was. The problem is that he and half of the other young guys in this team got satisfied. They got their Super Bowl so their career’s are complete. That is how they are playing like they just don’t give a crap.

  32. Crickett Baker Says:

Devon seems to be trying to be a captain and inspire his team, but he seems to be giving up on himself. Lakeland Steve could be right about him particularly. Young guys like he is need a good coach, and they don’t have one.

  33. !1bucs fan Says:

I agree with all the critical comments but this is where coaches matter. I’ll give you one example– Bowles and the Bucs staff in press conferences always give him a hall pass and make excuses for him. Sometimes a Coach has to call a player out publically–in this case it’s an individual trying to make a splash play or trying to get on Sports Center but as a consequence over running plays , losing lane discipline. You see that over and over again when he’s flailing in an attempt at an arm tackle. I don’t know the answer here but until the coaching staff calls him out and in detail of his numerous and continuous errors I’ll put some of that on them. Bellichik and Arians never missed an opportunity to find something Brady did wrong and call it out. Actually — that’s coaching too….

  34. Vlad The Impaler Says:

    Undisciplined, entitled punk team

  35. Vlad The Impaler Says:

    I forgot: Lazy also

  36. Mike C Says:

Got a stop on third down (finally) in the fourth quarter and you could visibly see him struggling to hold himself back from celebrating like a mad man smh.

  37. Daryl Green Says:

I FN told y’all, go back a read. FN ice skates Devin White.
He still as not gotten off a block. Trade ass
Good thing about that loss is the Glazers should fire everyone.

  38. Oneilbuc Says:

Our defense is ranked 3rd in scoring and 7th in total defense and y’all keep pointing the finger at the Bowles and the defense.

  39. Manny Says:

These guys dont care about winning besides brady. Its a bunch of enpty, careless faces. The coaches dont care and they put this season in their rearview weeks ago. Poor brady loves thisngame more than anyone who has and this is amateur hour for him. Its like a high iq genius being teamed up with a bunch of 2nd graders picking their noses. Leftwich is preschool. He doesnt even deserve to be mentioned with the teamates. Besides brady, wirfs, winfield, david, jensen and a healthy godwin are about it. Tom is having the worst year of his long career and it starts with coaching. He would be amazing with the 49ers. That is such a well coached team with an amazing defense and offense. He made brock purdy look like josh allen

  40. Ed Says:

There is no defending the Bucs defense yesterday. 2 lob throws where no safety help and defensive back not in a position to make a play on the ball.

No contain on Purdy, no game plan to confuse the rookie in his first start.

The Buc coaching staff puts out a product that is just showing up for games without any improvement or change-up’s from week to week. They are running the same WR screens that every team knows and stops. The deep balls are there but Brady is underthrowing them. They are a team of loafers.

Not being able to put up a couple of touchdowns in this era of protecting receivers and easy to draw PI penalties is grounds for termination the offensive coaching staff and getting a younger coach that can script plays that take advantage of the size of the receivers.

Time to move on from this staff and most of the older players. Licht has really let down Brady but not having a solid offensive line and depth. Mike Evans and Devin White had to play at Pro Bowl level to bring out the best in the team and they have both given up on their teamates.

  41. ChattBucsFan Says:

He is great at celebrating after the occasional times he actually does his job, regardless of what the scoreboard says.

  42. ChattBucsFan Says:

He is great at celebrating after the occasional times he actually does his job, regardless of the scoreboard.

  43. buccs99 Says:

He won defensive player of the week honors a couple times this year and a defensive player of the month in september, correct ? He’s also given up on plays, made a fool more often than not, and is about 50/50 when it comes to actually making the play than disrupting the play. disrupters are good players. playmakers are elite players. Yesterday, He and that entire organization was either.

  44. kyle Says:

didnt even watch the 2nd half.. i could see that they were getting killed up front on both sides.. no way for a comeback..

  45. al Says:

Bigger question is why the hell is todd bowles a head coach?

  46. Buffalo54 Says:

As far as I’m.concerend, the referees gave the 49’ners 1/2 of that game !they sucked, and were blind!

  47. garro Says:

” He’s a good linebacker, usually an excellent linebacker.”

Joe i dont know what you’ve been smoking all season… or maybe to many of your bromossos is the culprit.

This dude has never even been a GOOD linbacker! He cant tackle he misses assignments and then celebrates after giving up first down yardage. half the time he can’t even find the man he should be covering in pass defense!

He’s got a few sacks (missed a few too) that were schemed by Bowles…Thats about it!
