Big Game Coming For Chris Godwin?

December 5th, 2022

Feed him.

Joe thinks it damn fortunate that Bucs receiver Chris Godwin seems just about back from the horrible knee injury he suffered last December when the slimy Saints came to town.

Godwin is on a roll the past couple of weeks. And if he is close to his normal self, Joe hopes quarterback Tom Brady feeds Godwin the rock early and often.

Why is that? Godwin — and this surprised Joe — since former Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians arrived has been one of the best receivers in the NFL for YAC.

Per the Bucs, Godwin averages 35.5 yards a game in YAC (yards after the catch). The only guys ahead of him are San Francisco’s Deebo Samuel, Los Angeles’ Cooper Kupp, Cincinnati’s Ja’Marr Chase and Las Vegas’ Davante Adams.

That’s freaking impressive company.

So here is what Joe would do: If the running game ain’t there (and odds are it won’t be because it rarely is), then eff the run. Mike Evans will likely be tangled up with Marshon Lattimore (if he plays). So that means Godwin will be able to roam free and burn the slimy Saints.

Gut Dink Dunk Game Plan again?

  2. Kentucky Buc Says:

This will probably be the most conservative game of the year. Bowles and BL are going to double down on the bulls hit. Unless upper management came down hard on them after last game which I doubt.

Run, run, pass, punt. Get ready for it.

This team is toast. The coaching is the anchor around the teams collective necks. They can try and stay afloat but in the end it’s going to be futile. There is no passion. No fire. No continuity. That’s coaching. It was a terrible mistake allowing BA to dictate the hiring of Bowles. A historical mistake probably.
I hope for you guys they get a win tonight but it’s highly unlikely.

    Wasted year for Godwin

Some will laugh at this….but if Russell Gage is back & healthy….he’ll have a big game tonight…
Evans will be tied up and Gage gets open for those 7 yard passes Brady loves.

This may be the first game we have all 4 WRs healthy.

Sorry you are going to have to stay up so late tonight writing Joes

I am still blindly hoping all of the sudden the OC will see the error of his ways and open this thing up – spread the ball, use counters, play action, motion – disguise route combos, pass to set up the run and slow down the inside heat

You know act like an NFL level coordinator

We can still dream cant we?

Cant wait for this shootout tonight!! Final score looking to be in the double digits more than likely. Thinking it should be a Bucs W 9-6. LFG

    @ DGO60

I believe part of Arians conditions to come out of retirement to coach here was the plan for either Bowles or Leftwich to become coach after his tenure. Having Bowles at the helm at the moment was not a mistake, but simply paying the piper.

  12. NEfan Says:

Wait for it, 13-13, 4th qtr 1:12 left Bucs on the Saint 2yd line with 3 timeouts, Saints have 1 timeout. Bowles instructs Brady to take a knee 3 times, Succop misses the FG. Winsten comes in, Bowles calls full out blitz except White and DB’s are in man to man. Hicks and Vea are on the sideline sharing a box of Twinkies. Balls snapped, White runs into Davis knocks him down and WR scores on a 95 yd pass. Saints 19 Bucs 13.

  13. Bobby Says:

Tonight might be a long rough night because of impact of Wirf’s absence. If Brady has no time to throw, Godwin isn’t going to make the impact you say. We will see, hopefully I’m wrong and the offense just hums like a new car does when you first get it.

“Josh Wells, here’s what we’re gnna do. You’re going to line up one on one against Cam Jordan all night. All good, we believe in you. It’s ok to screw 1 or 8 times, that’s how you learn. Brady will be fine. You got this.” – Byron Leftwich probably
