Believe In Tom Brady?

December 20th, 2022

Can he still carry the Bucs?

No, Tom Brady has not looked like the Brady we all embraced who got the Bucs a Super Bowl and damn near a second one while leading the NFL in passing.

It seems Father Time is finally tapping on his shoulder. Of course the last time folks thought that, Brady ended up on the Bucs and look what happened.

Jim Trotter of NFL.com doesn’t believe this year’s version of Brady can lift the Bucs on his back like in previous seasons. Part of that, Trotter thinks, is because Brady is getting gunshy.

… … he has been the rising tide that elevated the play of those around him, but not this year. And it’s hard not to question whether he fully trusts those around him this year, considering how often he is being hit and how frequently he and his receivers have seemingly been reading from different playbooks.

Well, after 14 games, Joe thinks it is obvious the playbooks have changed. This is a new offense and it’s a crime someone with the Bucs decided to fix something that was not broken.

But yeah, on Sunday, there were a couple of plays where Brady sure seemed jumpy in the pocket, running or ducking for cover as if he were hearing footsteps.

Brady has shown flashes that he’s still elite. Whenever he runs a no-huddle, this offense hums. Why this coaching staff is so scared to use something that works is beyond Joe’s comprehension.

  1. Da Bucs Guy Says:

Brady can carry a team when there are pro-bowlers and hall of famers on the O-line and D-line. And that is how they won. News flash, the coaching has always been poor the last 3 seasons. They just had superior talent and Tom Brady to win games. But like all Arians built teams, there is only a two year window because he loads up so heavily on old free agents. And the Bruce Arians built teams implode after a two year playoff runs.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Ever since that bad roughing call in the Atlanta game refs have failed to call it many times when Brady has been hit late and in the head……they seem to be trying to make up for the bad call.

    And, yes….Brady is uncomfortable…..jumpy…..not waiting for reads……

The line isn’t as good and our WRs look slow and aren’t getting separation.

All this equals 5 yard passes……

  3. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Brady can’t carry a team alone by himself anymore…….this season has proven this.

Can he engineer game winning drives??? —– YES, of course he can.

    BUT

The days where he can shoulder the whole load, lets say 2 or 5 years ago….them days are gone.

  4. Beej Says:

He got hit 7 times in that game (likely all in the 2nd half) Is that why we abandoned the VERY successful play-action, because he couldn’t turn his back to the line for 1-2 seconds?

  5. Kentucky Buc Says:

B B But we gon rebulb da teem. Debelop Coiterbrack. Den we be dominart. Git jung guy. Ain’t be wrong. We be do.

  6. Cassius55 Says:

O-line, o-line, o-line & play calling. How do people forget how poorly Mahomes played in that Super Bowl where we crushed them when his o-line was crap? Yeah, he had also the bad foot thing but that only brought him closer to Brady’s level of lacking mobility. And how does nobody correlate this year’s ‘dead last’ running game of the Buc’s to our poor o-line either. While incredibly frustrated with game planning and play calling so far, I’m still not totally out on the Bucs. Sunday’s first half showed me that the talent & execution potential are still there but the coaching needs to stop suppressing. The results have to be kicking the crap out of the player’s confidence as well – not sure how much more they can bounce back from. Fingers crossed & trusting the coaching will get better (unlikely) or get out of the way.

  7. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    @ Kentucky Buc

    Is this English??????…………WTH?????

  8. cside dave Says:

I see Tom admitted to dealing with a shoulder injury most of the season. I like to watch warm ups and he was zipping the ball prior to the first home game. After that, the zip was gone and he didn’t throw nearly as much pregame. He probably isn’t confident that he can make some of the throws he wants to.

  9. HC Grover Says:

He will whup Dallas in the WC game at Ray Jay….Eagles….Bucs seem to find a way when they play…then the 9r’s rematch to get to Stupor bowl. 3 division titles in a row and on to the Big Game. Thanks Tommy!! Put this Bowzo disaster behind and thet Brady take over.

  10. BigMacAttack Says:

Yes Bradentucky, please put your teeth in when you write

  11. Todd Says:

Joe, would you consider writing a “what if” article please? What if Lostwich gets fired but Bowles does not. WHO would be some kick-but, CREATIVE candidates to become the Bucs new offensive coordinator? Let’s presume no hiring from within.

That would be an interesting deep dive!

And maybe get the ownership of the Bucs THINKING because you know they read your site daily!

    Thanks in advance.

  12. Smashsquatch Says:

The whole team has regressed, including Brady. The good news is they’ll likely host a playoff game. Last time I checked, Brady is pretty good in the post season. Question is, can Bowles & Lefty scheme up game plans good enough to win in the post season? If they think “we just got to execute better” we’re toast. If they admit failure and make adjustments, we have a chance to make a run.

  13. Hodad Says:

Believe in Tom Brady? I believe all good things must come to an end.

  14. OBVIOUS Says:

Kentucky, with All the pure crap I watched and since have been reading, You’re the Only One that tickled me with a well found Laugh.. I just wanna say thanks. Because as crazy as it is, your Jive talk makes More Sense than anything else this football team has put on the field. Sad and funny as all get out at the same time. Thanks for the smile!

Hey MORON, I mean Byron, Kentucky can help you with your speak impediment. His attempt at Engrish above (of which he had to work hard to put together) is cleaner than what you think Engrish sounds like! You’re just not bright enough son. It’s easier to Understand what a West Indian (a rosta) is saying than supposedly a guy that grew up in the United States AND went to college here??? Buddy, WOW! If I Owned a team and you came in for an interview for towel boy, I wouldn’t be able to understand you and would say “no thanks” as kindly as I could. If I looked at the interview sheet and saw that you were there for my head coaching job, I’d Laugh you Out of there To Your Face and then PROMPTLY fire the idiot that sent you into my office! Kid , you grew up in this country? Not a chance you passed English ANYTHING! GTFOOH!

At Least we have the worst Shat Show on Earth again. Thanks Glazers, Jason Licht for reminding me what misery is again. I “almost forgot” what it is and what it takes to ACTUALLY BE the WORST (supposedly professional “PRO”) team in ALL OF SPORTS HISTORY! Only the Glazers could pull that off twice in history! But here we are. You’ve done it again. WOW!

  15. zzbucs Says:

I do believe TB12 is not the same he use to, but I also believe he is better than most of NFL QB with the exception of 5….Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Herbert and Deshawn…that´s it…
    Can he still win games?
Of Course he can…He with the coaches need to take more risks thats all…..

  16. SufferingSince76 Says:

    Trotter is correct.

  17. Bobby M. Says:

We lost 3 starters on the o-line….2 of which were pro bowlers along with a top 3 TE and replaced them with a rookie LG, back up C and 2 rookie TEs. It was poor roster management by Licht from the start of camp. Offense has zero chance of being effective with those changes and the coaching buffoonery we have leading this team.

  18. LVMYBUCS Says:

Players don’t want to play for Bowles and Lefty plane and simple. They just riding out he wave.

  19. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

@joebucsfan I’ve met you a couple of times and know your a good dude, but when do you say enough is enough on a team. I found JBF when it was JWs last year as a Yuc and been a fan of the site since, but my question to you is besides the forgotten years is this the most depressing year of covering this team? I’ll be honest I sold the rest of my season tickets before the Baltimore game and 4 stadium club tickets ( aren’t cheap ) and got 100 percent value on that game and the Bengals. I took the L with Carolina and Atlanta at 70 percent because I refuse to support these owners ( who already took my money ) coaches, and millionaires that have checked out. I can’t remember a team with the same QB go from SB, almost B2B to this crap so quick and crypto scamming, got cheated on, image is everything QB looks like a deer in headlights meanwhile the defense without any leaders ( happy if they stop the other team ) has been this bad. It’s just mind blowing !!! Thanks and have a Great Christmas!!!
    Mark

  20. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

Lastly what team next year is going to want Tom Brady ? Seriously I can’t think of a team besides the Patriots and does Bill put his pride aside for one year especially after seeing this version? Mind blowing

  21. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ Yucs2Bucsr

I think like 50% of NFL teams would GLADLY take Brady on their team…….

so don’t say things like that!.

Even at Brady’s ancient age in the NFL…..he’s still better than 80% of quarterbacks in the NFL.

  22. beano Says:

We wasted a season that should have focused on development because we were fixated on the GOAT, he da GOAT, how GOAT he is, he’s a wonderful GOAT, blah blah blah. Actually, I’ll take Montana or Bradshaw over Brady any day. They were 4-0 in Super Bowls. Brady is 7-3, would have been 5-5 if not for historic chokes by the Seahawks and Falcons.

  23. JimmyfromNY Says:

Lol!! With no offensive line , no running game all receivers near the bottom of the league in separation and complete nitwits running the show. And he still is near the league in several passing categories. As much as u Brady trolls want him not to be wanted by teams next season u are clueless!! He 100% will have to teams lining up, look at some of the QB playing in TEnnesee , Vegas , Jets , Pats ,and SF etc .

  24. Zoocomics Says:

    @Da Bucs Guy… nailed it!

However, I wouldn’t say that Brady doesn’t necessarily require pro-bowl/hall of famers on bother sides of the ball to win a Super Bowl, but this Arians/Bowles/Leftwich “system” certainly does require elite talent, given it’s razor thin room for error without it.

With the exception of the games at the end of our Super Bowl season, where we beat the piss out of some terrible football teams, we have managed to play down to every football team we’ve played, and with the exception of the Super Bowl win, I can’t recall the last time we played 4Qs of solid mistake free football. Does it make sense for me to say that last seasons team must have been the worst 12-4 football team I’ve ever witnessed? 3/4 of those losses were against bad football teams, against back-up QBs! A team like the Chiefs doesn’t lose those games. And that’s the difference.

Bowles defensive, even with all the injuries we’ve suffered, the FA we lost and those FA we chose not to bring back, they’ve done enough to win football games. Offense leaving them on the field too long, who knows how good this def could be if they weren’t having to protect a tight lead or keep it close enough to give the offensive a chance to steal a win. These quick 3 and outs and turnovers giving great field position to the other team, it’s just unsustainable with this type of def and the lack of a dominant pass rusher.

  25. NEfan Says:

YucYuc the season ticket holder. Jets, Atlanta, Carolina, Saints, Indy, LV, AZ, Rams (Stafford is done), Lions, Giants, Pittsburgh, Denver, Pat’s and most of all BUCS. He doesn’t require $40-$50mm. Next question?

  26. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

@BucAnthem you really think after this year he’s a top 5 QB 😳 Everyone can blame Lefty, but who’s really in charge of the offense and the 7 time champ has his hands tide and has no say or control. I just don’t see a SB contending team taking that chance and people can say San Fran, but he’s going to move cross country, pay 70 percent in taxes, and have one last dance with the Niners. If it happens great, but just very hard to believe especially after seeing his play this season ? It hurts

  27. Mike Johnson Says:

Brady is just about done. I hope he reties this year..for his sake. One only needs to look at poor Matt Ryan in Indy. They trot that guy out there to get slaughtered and embarrassed every week. He looks like an old man out there. He must need the money. He should be retired. Its embarrassing. I just don’t want to see the GOAT carted off the field. His O line is barely holding up. Please walk off into the sunset Tom. And my fellow Buc fans should be encouraging him to leave. Look, there is not much more juice to squeeze out of this man.

  28. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

@joe your welcome 🙂 So Tom goes to a new team and they automatically become Super Bowl contenders ? Am I missing something or watching a different number 12 and this is the same man that would never sign a ball after the game to a opposing player who intercepted him. Plus I’m waiting is 37.5 million at Fox and if you don’t think that Crypto scam didn’t hurt his wallet your nuts !!!!

  29. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

@mikejohnson thank you and was wondering if we were watching the same number 12 because obviously some think he’s still elite 😳

  30. Joe Says:

but when do you say enough is enough on a team.

What’s the solution? Run off the greatest quarterback who ever lived for Kyle Trask, seriously? Put a gun to Bruce Arians’ head and say, “Agree to coach again or I pull the trigger.” Joe’s been on record for months saying Leftwich needs to be launched. The defense, despite being riddled with injuries, is playing fine.

I found JBF when it was JWs last year as a Yuc and been a fan of the site since, but my question to you is besides the forgotten years is this the most depressing year of covering this team?

Thanks for your support and being a loyal reader.

Joe would not classify this year as “depressing.” More aggravating or frustrating. Highly annoying. The Bucs have plenty of talent to win. They just refuse to do what works which drives Joe up a tree.

  31. Joe Says:

Am I missing something or watching a different number 12

Seems so. You know Brady is No. 3 in the league in passing, right? And when he runs a hurry-up he’s top five in yards and points. (At least he was three weeks ago.)

Brady wasn’t the one who changed the offense. Brady wasn’t the one who has receivers running rush-blocking routes.

When this offense runs a hurry-up, it hums. It’s not Brady’s fault if the idiot running the offense doesn’t want to use that. Or play-action which Brady also excels with.

Bowles and Leftwich took one of the NFL’s best offenses and gutted it.

  32. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

@NEfan why are you on a Bucs site anyways, but nice end to the Raiders game. Huh

  33. Craig Says:

I think it has all sunk in to Brady; the hits, sacks, and pain. His brain is railing against him and it sometimes wins.

That is when his attitude drops into survival mode and the game goes out the window.

I still say we need to know what Trask is about. That doesn’t mean working Brady model should be benched. He should not be allowed to be a detriment if he is having a bad day, because his bad days are really bad.

If the Bucs blow up in any of these last three games, Trask should be given the garbage time snaps, and not just runs to nowhere.

Brady will be gone immediately after this season and the Bucs need to know if Trask is the future.

  34. tbbucs3 Says:

Trask doesnt even dress for the games so it makes no sense for his name to keep popping up in every Brady article

Seems a bit unfair for Brady fan boys (and Joe) to keep dragging his name through the mud as he’s yet to even take a snap for the Bucs….and thats coming from a Fla St fan.

Yes, a declining Brady is obviously still the best choice for the Bucs this season….even as Brady has played bad for much of this season, no sane fans want him benched for Trask.

  35. Buc1987 Says:

    Yucs2Bucsr Says :

“@NEfan why are you on a Bucs site anyways”

    No one knows…

  36. NEfan Says:

Ttsucs, Trask couldn’t win a preseason game, he played in all 3. He’s supposed to jump in and turn this dysfunctional offensive shat show. Talk about setting the guy up for failure.

YucYuc, nice try my love for Belichick left when he f’d over the team and lost the Philly SB. I got rid of my premium seats once BB let Brady go and Newton was hos replacement. This season is a total shat show, two coaches playing OC that are defensive minded under qualified for the job and it shows. Sound familiar???

  37. beano Says:

tbbucs3 Says: “Seems a bit unfair for Brady fan boys (and Joe) to keep dragging Trask through the mud as he’s yet to even take a snap for the Bucs….and thats coming from a Fla St fan.”

I appreciate your candor. I’m a UF guy (two degrees) but have family that went to FSU so I cheer for them too. Back to your point, when Trask did take snaps in preseason he looked quite good in 2 of the 3 games. And, in the final game he posted a significantly higher quarterback rating than both Gabbert AND Brady. But none of that matters to Hater Joe, who bloviates on and on about Trask’s miscues in training camp with scrubs – but never Brady’s miscues, of which there were many according to my sources who were there.

  38. Bucanero Says:

    Yes

  39. JimmyJack Says:

The shame of it all is our defense is pretty danged good. If we can only find an offense who could compliment them.

  40. beano Says:

NEfan Says: Trask couldn’t win a preseason game.”

Neither could anyone else, we were 0-3, LMAO. But, Trask could post a significantly higher quarterback rating in the final preseason game than both Gabbert and Brady. Chew on this, Bradi Boi:

    RTG
    Kyle Trask 99.6
    Blaine Gabbert 89.0
    Tom Brady 87.5

  41. beano Says:

Yucs2Bucsr Says: “@NEfan why are you on a Bucs site anyways?”

    He’s a Bradi Boi. Can’t control himself.

  42. AbucAway Says:

I do. And I now believe that they found what they were looking for in the first half of that Bengals game. This team can do it. They found it. They’ll take the last three games. I believe it

    It’s on!

  43. JimmyJack Says:

And sorry fans I haven’t been with y’all to share our sorrows. But do not worry my Bucs flag is still flapping. I will never turn my back on our team and believe that I am with y’all in spirit.

    GO BUCS!!

  44. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

@joe I get the hurry up and seems like that’s the go to when we are down in the game, but what about all the 3 and outs ? White was running the ball pretty well and then they go to Lenny and I think even Vaughn made an appearance, but to think that Tom doesn’t have a say or isn’t more powerful then Leftwich is nuts !!! Maybe the wrong word in depressing, but yes loosing Jensen and Marpet was huge and you cant say besides some 76 mistakes that the line doesn’t give him time in the pocket ? Did you watch Stephen A about Brady and how not only is he not feared or respected. Obviously 2020 and 2021 any WB would want to play for Tampa because of the offense, but IMO the D has always been suspect ( crazy to say ) and the Brady effect helped. I just can’t believe how bad they look and it’s now week 15 ? I don’t see them winning in AZ and see the Saints sliming their way in . Anyways have a Great Christmas Joe

  45. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

@jimmyjack I’m not a fair weather fan, but after 18 years I’ll admit I did sell the rest of my seats not just because of their play, but it’s expensive and would rather use the money on my kids. Times are tough and I’ve been blessed to have those Stadium Club seats, but had to make a choice. I don’t root against them, but just can’t see these guy ( hard to call a team ) magically turn it around and if they continue to lose could have a top 10 pick that could actually make an impact on day 1

  46. NEfan Says:

Not me Jimmy, once Bowels completely destroys this team which will be soon and Brady rides off in the sunset scratching his head, I have no desire to partake in a franchise where winning is painful and losing is commonplace. Don’t think for one minute I won’t pop in and left the haters know how much I told you so! Not sure if I asked this question, Is letting up 79 points in two games good defense? Just asking because I keep reading that they’re pretty good. NOT!!!

  47. Kentucky Buc Says:

Yep Joe. They gutted the Offense. Never could stand Coaches who had their philosophy and refused to adjust to the players they have. The receivers on this team are built for creativity and big plays. The only guy even remotely close to a possession type receiver is Godwin. I’ve played for Coaches like this. They do what they do and if it doesn’t work they try it some more. It’s the equivalent of putting Bolt in the 10,000 meters. But hey. We be do what we be do.

  48. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

I can’t believe I’m catching heat from a NE fan ( who must have a Brady signal) when people talk about him or his play and lastly his stats aren’t bad because if you look at the yards it’s all coming from when we are already out of the game ( minus the Saints ) and scored a TD against the Bengals when the game was over. This isn’t the same Tom and if it’s an injury, crypto, ex wife, etc what happened to throwing it down field like the last two years ? To get blasted for an option is ridiculous and I guess it’s from frustration because I played football until I blew my knee out my Junior year at UAB. Played WR and started, but these 15 to 20 yard passes aren’t cutting it and put Scotty to at least show the deep threat because everyone knows ( including the other team ) the game plan

  49. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

@NEfan grow up and what are you 19, 20 ? If you want to meet up we can talk about, but I guarantee you won’t like the outcome kinda like your teams moronic play against the Raiders

  50. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

@NEfan then why signal me out when I’m not the only one seeing Brady’s fall ? I just wish he would retire and I’m not a Gator or Trash guy, but after those 4 turnovers why not put Blaine in ? We already were going to lose, but I guess padding Brady’s stats is more important

  51. Randy Bowers Says:

No and I don’t think all his teammates do either.I’d like to see a couple of them walk the sideline and get in his face and cuss a little.

  52. Tony Says:

Everybody says how they’re older & all yeah I understand but it’s not like they’re gonna find Tyreek Hill Justin Jefferson Jamaar Chase Josh Allen Patrick Mahomes Myles Garrett Aaron Donald or players like that just sitting out there as FAs. They tried to bring in whoever they could. Although they probably never should’ve let JPP Suh & Whitehead go.

  53. David G Says:

Has any QB ever made the playoffs with a sub .500 record and went on to win the Super Bowl? It will be just one more amazing record that the G.O.A.T will have under his belt! As long as we have Brady and we can get a little healthier and stay healthy during the last part of the season, we have the talent! I will not give up on the MAN that brought us our 2nd Ring and changed the attitude of this franchise! GO BUCS! The G.O.A.T is a BADASS!!

  54. NEfan Says:

beanblo, Brady played one series and Tyler & Otton dropped two Evan’s softballs. Trask played the majority of ALL three, maybe that’s why they didn’t win one. Why isn’t he active??? Your beloved BA approved diverse coaching staff apparently doesn’t feel he is fit to fill this role. So he either he isn’t ready or this is another screw up by this coaching staff. You make the call.

  55. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

@tony if they lose these last games they could have a top ten pick, but also next year will probably win 4 and will have a great pick and I know some good QBs will be there for the taking. Unfortunately Mike will be gone and still have Godwin and a better Otton, but these next two drafts ( and where’s Licht been ?) maybe he’s gone after the season, but hopefully the next GM has a solid 2 year draft !!

  56. NEfan Says:

YucYuc, I am far from 20 and played LB at a much higher D1 level than UAB, but I can now respect your expertise because you at least played at the collegiate level. I am a bit confused though, you of all people should understand how important separation and route running, PA and motion is to both the receivers and QB, so how can you justify these offensive schemes from the past two seasons?

FYI, I am 6’4″ and 30lbs heavier than my college playing weight. Be careful who YOU call out!!!

  57. beano Says:

NEfan Says: “beanblo, Brady played one series and Tyler & Otton dropped two Evan’s softballs. Trask played the majority of ALL three.”

    1. Trask had dropped balls too, lots of them by the scrubs he was playing with.
    2. Trask did not start any of the three games, Gabbert did.
    3. Trask never played – and still hasn’t played – with the first team.
    4. Trask drove the team to winning field goal range in Game 1 but the kicker missed.
    5. Game 3 RTGs:
    Kyle Trask 99.6
    Blaine Gabbert 89.0
    Tom Brady 87.5

    Thanks for playing.

  58. Trikki Rikki Says:

Brady can still lead a team to and win a Super Bowl, just not this clown show with Leftwich and Bowles and quite frankly nobody can.

  59. Joe Says:

    4. Trask drove the team to winning field goal range in Game 1 but the kicker missed.

QUICK! Call Canton. We have to make an appointment for Kyle Trask to begin having his bust formed. He led a bunch of practice squad flunkies in a preseason game to a field goal facing plumbers and Walmart warehouse workers.

Do your shoulders hurt from reaching so hard? LOL

  60. Buc1987 Says:

    Sigh..beano.

  61. Redeemer Says:

The hodgepodge offense their running is designed for recievers to win individual matchups. They don’t scheme guys open. It’s the exact opposite of what they should be doing. Brady is at his best pre snap. Determining coverage and deciding where to go, before the play starts. Instead, he’s throwing to who wins their route. That’s a hard way to sustain offense. Teams don’t respect the bucs running game, so their playing coverage. IMO Brady’s influence was the reason the offense looked different and great in the first half. But, if you turn the ball over 5 times, it doesn’t matter.

  62. beano Says:

Joe Says: “Do your shoulders hurt from reaching so hard?”

Not reaching. Just stating facts you deliberately ignore because they don’t fit your narrative. You would fit in nicely in Washington DC with the politicians.

Say, Joe, I almost forgot. You being the quarterback guru you are, how about revisiting your article in 2014 whining that the Bucs did not Johnny Manziel? Yeah, this one:

“CAN YOU IMAGINE THE EXCITEMENT TODAY IF THE TEAM HAD PICKED MANZIEL? CAN YOU IMAGINE THE IMPACT? HE HAS BEEN THE FINEST PLAYMAKER IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS! YOUR EYES TELL YOU THE KID CAN PLAY!”

    LMAO

  63. beano Says:

Joe in 2014 on not drafting Johnny Manziel: “CAN YOU IMAGINE THE EXCITEMENT TODAY IF THE TEAM HAD PICKED MANZIEL? CAN YOU IMAGINE THE IMPACT? HE HAS BEEN THE FINEST PLAYMAKER IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS! YOUR EYES TELL YOU THE KID CAN PLAY!”

Joe in 2022 on Trask: “TRASK SUCKS.”

    Draw your own conclusions, boys.

  64. NEfan Says:

beanblo, Joe took the words right out of my mouth, except he didn’t say he was playing against a bunch of flunkies. Sing it with me beano:

    I got a Man Crush
I hate to admit it but
I got a hard Trask crush
    It’s slowing my brain down
    ….

  65. Joe Says:

It’s interesting you always bring up Johnny Football. Joe LOVES Johnny Football, no doubt. Always will. Maybe the most entertaining quarterback Joe has seen in college until Lincoln Riley came to Oklahoma. And we will never know how Johnny Football may have turned out if he wasn’t ruined by a jackarse meathead defensive coach that had no use for him.

What’s also interesting about how you often invoke Johnny Football to trash Joe but you *NEVER* mention how Joe called Josh Freeman a “bust in waiting” even before the Bucs drafted him. Hhhhmmm? How come you never bring that up? OH! Could it be that it doesn’t fit your hater narrative?

How many practices of training camp did you watch and take copious notes of each and every play? Joe has missed a grand total of ONE training camp practice since Kyle Trask has been a Bucs player. How many have you missed?

If Kyle Trask was remotely close to what you want him to be, Blaine Gabbert wouldn’t be on the roster and likely not even Ryan Griffin.

If Kyle Trask was remotely close to what you want him to be, the NFL wouldn’t have had to force the Bucs to allow Trask to wear a uniform in a regular season game — his ONLY regular game where he didn’t wear street clothes just like you and Joe.

But yeah, Trask is the next Jim Kelly. Do you have your reservations made for Canton yet? Better hurry.

The fact — FACT — that the NFL had to force the Bucs to allow Trask to where a uniform once in two years for a regular season game should tell you all you need know what the team thinks of him. Forget about what Joe thinks of him.

Brady is washed up and it’s time for y’all to move on!!!

    @Yucs2Bucsr:

Right now they might as well just put the fans in there to run the team because they’d probably be able to draft better, too! Plus how long do they expect to be rebuilding. The Glazers need to let somebody buy the team that’s gonna care. Somebody like Vinik. Licht was never the best of GMs even before he got here. If you’re not gonna do anything in FA or the trade deadline then trade down as much as you can & GET MORE DRAFT PICKS & HELP REBUILD THE TEAM!

Fire them cannons? Uh NO! FIRE THEM COACHES!

  68. Oneilbuc Says:

Joe. You need to just except the fact that Brady is washed up and it’s time to move on. I rather see Trask with the starters than Brady right now at least we can see what he is because we know Brady washed up and playing like a 45 year old quarterback. Trask has never practice with the starters !!

No no no no no! We can’t let Trask play! Especially with the first team! He might do what he has always done and make the quarterback guru who worshipped Johnny Manziel – Joe – look foolish!

Between the Giovanni Bernard debacle and Joe constantly trashing a Bucs QB whos never played in favor of the mighty Fan Controlled Football quarterback Johnny Manziel….

Bucs media has REALLY exposed themselves this week….

  71. D-Rok Says:

Wow. Tensions are palpable today. Losing does that to fans.

1st half of game gave me hope. It was complimentary football in all 3 phases. Brady was sharp, and the whole team was, top to bottom. It proves they CAN do it against a very good team.

The question is: From here on out, CAN the Bucs do “it?”

  72. D-Rok Says:

    Sorry, WILL they do “it?”

  73. JB Says:

I think his divorce and related mental stress has played a much bigger (the biggest) role in his play and commitment this year, way more than any of the other factors.

  74. steele Says:

I believe in Brady if 1. the team is masterfully coached on every level 2. the roster is full of all-pro veterans and unsung all-pro types, and younger players worthy of same, complete and ready, and collectively motivated by the coach(es) 3. he is completely healthy.

None of this is in place. So there is nothing and no one to believe in at the moment. All we can do is pray. Hard.

  75. Oneilbuc Says:

Beano. You know what I really believe the only reason why Trask didn’t get a chance to practice with the starters since he was drafted was because of Brady. Brady know how he got his shot he was the young unproven quarterback that took a good veteran quarterback job . So that’s why I believe Trask never got a chance to practice with the starters and they know fans don’t want to see Gabbert because he sucked every where he went. And what did BA always said I don’t want my starting quarterback looking over their shoulder. And think about this fact Brady ran to Robert Kraft to get Jimmy G out of New England. Brady has always been a insecure quarterback especially right now. So that’s why Joe and Ira Kaufman pod cast has been pushing the narrative that Trask couldn’t beat out Gabbert when you know it was never a quarterback competition between Trask and Gabbert.

  76. beano Says:

Oneilbuc. Excellent comment. You’re absolutely right. I would add only this: It is remarkably disingenuous of Joe and Ira to push the narrative that Trask failed to beat out Gabbert when they damn well know there was never a competition between the two. The quarterback coach himself, Christensen, said so himself BEFORE this season’s training camp when he flat out said – in May! – that Gabbert would be #2 and get the reps as #2.

  77. Tony Says:

    @JB

That’s why I was worried about them from the beginning. Between everything that’s been going on between him & Gisele all the injuries & then both the morons gonna be taking over since Arians was gonna be retiring & yep I figured more then likely they weren’t gonna leave everything alone. They were gonna screw things up when there was no reason to change anything.

  78. NEfan Says:

Oneilsuckyall and beanblo, 100% on the Brady comment. He got his shot because Drew Bledsoe got hurt, that is in part a reason he never wants to miss or leave a game. The Jimmy G. year Brady went on to win a SB then went to 2 more and won another. So I guess losing Jimmy G was worth it. If he’s so good why isn’t he backing up Brady? If anything the team should want him learning from him. I guess you’re both smarter than the Bucs organization including BA.

  79. beano Says:

NEslow. Once again, Trask does not back up Brady because Joe Montana would not back up Brady because Brady wants a comfortable loser as backup. When Trask was drafted in 2021 right after the Brady Bucs won the Super Bowl, the narrative was 100% that Trask would “sit and learn for a couple years.” Hence loser Gabbert has been the annointed backup – not by winning some nonexistent backup competition that Joe and Ira lie about.
