Practice Makes Perfect

November 25th, 2022

Bucs OC Bryon Leftwich.

So Joe is still trying to figure out if the best game the Bucs have played offensively right before the bye, over Seattle in Munich, was a fluke or a sign of things to come.

Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich of course believes the Bucs showed their capabilities. Speaking yesterday at One Buc Palace, Leftwich explained why the offense looked sharp in Germany.

It’s because of practice. Leftwich said for the first time all season, the past couple of weeks the Bucs have had their entire offense (sans left guard Luke Goedeke) available on the practice fields at One Buc Palace.

“I think it is good for us because we are all practicing together,” Leftwich said. “I think the most important part for us is to practice. I believe practice is important in this league.

“The more we can practice together, collectively as a group [is better]. Earlier in the year we didn’t practice together. We had a lot of banged up guys so we didn’t get a lot of practice work.”

That’s a fair point. Julio Jones always being nicked up is a perfect example. (Was Joe the only person in Germany who thought when Jones got belted at the goal line on the Bucs’ first touchdown that Julio was going to get up broken?)

Of course, now that the first-string offense has practiced together for a few weeks, fans ought to expect a more competent offense Sunday as well, right?

    Right.

I wonder if more time together in training camp may have helped as wellโ€ฆ Hmmmm

  2. Buccos Says:

It took Brady years to get to know Gronkowski and Edelman. He and Evanโ€™s and Godwin are still getting better and he is Just getting to know Jones and Gage and Otton. They should continue to gel and get better as the season progresses.

Total BS. Byron called a better game in Munich, yet we still underperformed on the scoreboard. His play calling remains the problem and needs to change in a major way. Sick of it!

    Can you say Coach speak?
Or trying to cover your ass?
    Jeez!

The guys practicing were the guys playing!
We know that there is a drop off when backups play, but Byron is ultimately responsible for coaching all the players. Even the Back ups! And game planing accordingly?!?

Byron โ€ฆ โ€˜I believe that practice is important in this leagueโ€™.

Iโ€™m impressed. BL just unlocked the greatest secret in the formula for winning. Practice โ€ฆ Whodathunkit? Uhhh, maybe every coach whoโ€™s ever won?

Itโ€™s taken us over half a season to get our collective act together. Too many injuries? Too many new moving parts? Too many distractions? Realistically who cares? We are where we are: 5-5 sitting atop the NFC South with 7 games to go. Can we still blow it? Oh yes. Can we win it all? Yes to that also.

And yes BL practice WILL be important IF weโ€™re gonna make that happen. So will excellent coaching & so will great execution by the way. Now make THAT happen for every remaining game in 2022.

Bad coaching can lose a game more than good coaching can help you win a game. That’s what the Bucs are experiencing. Seattle should have been 35-10 because of bad coaching on both sides of the ball it turned out a one possession game.

Detroit proved this yesterday. 3rd & 1 in FG range with 32 seconds left. Both teams had 2 timeouts. Lions decide to pass the ball instead of running. Clock stopped. Kicked the FG, leaving Josh Allen with 2 TO’s and 29 seconds. If Lions run on 3rd & 1 and don’t make it clock keeps running forcing Bill’s to use a TO. Results the same Lions kick FG but now Bill’s have less time on the clock and 1 TO. End result Bill’s kick winning FG with 5 seconds left. 5 seconds they shouldn’t have had. No OT Lions lose, horrible coaching decision. It’s not just the Bucs.

Heading into their home stretch the Bucs are still too predictable and too easily throttled by stacked up defenses. Go long or go home Lefty.

Itโ€™s a waste of space to quote ByrMron. The brain dead boob is cringeworthy.
