Kay Adams: There Is Disconnect Between Tom Brady And Todd Bowles

November 30th, 2022

FanDuel’s Kay Adams.

Kay Adams seems to be like Joe and a lot of Bucs fans.

We’ve seen the Bucs step on a rake, stub their big toe and drop a bottle of beer on their foot once in a while this season. Packers loss. Steelers loss. Stinking Panthers loss.

Adams, on “Up and Adams” seen weekday mornings on FanDuelTV, said yesterday she hasn’t talked much about the Bucs this fall because with Tom Brady and all the talent, it was just a matter of time before the team clicked and all would be right.

The galling loss to the Browns demonstrated to Adams the Bucs are not alright.

She could not believe how Bucs coach Todd Bowles handled the final Bucs drive of regulation. She said in so many words, someone should tell Bowles his quarterback is the best whoever lived and thrives like no other in the final minute.

Adams said Bowles’ moves late would have made sense if an unproven guy was behind center, but Bowles took the ball out of Brady’s hands and set the Bucs up to lose.

The last player on earth you want to take the ball away from is Brady.

Adams is convinced Brady and Bowles are not on the same page and maybe Brady is not even on the same page as his offensive coaches.

You can see her take on the Bucs in the FanDuelTV video below.

Time for the Bowles Head Bag.

  2. Onetrickpony Says:

Adams thought Bowles took the ball out of Brady’s hands and set the Bucs up to lose.
    On purpose or stupidity?

  3. OBVIOUS Says:

She’s not the only one who hasn’t been paying attention. Right Jason Licht and of course the GLAZERS. If there’s not a man around there that will step up and make the changes, perhaps there is a woman? Perhaps a female can explain winning football to the cartoon characters Willie Coyote, Droopy, and Daffy Duck because adult men can’t seem to explain it.

  4. PassingThru Says:

There’s no way in hell Brady is coming back to this mess. The Bowles and Leftwich “Reign of Error” has destroyed this team and their collective will to win games. You play the way your practice and given the mess that we see every game, those practices must be sloppy and confused. The only thing worse than the practices is the game management, in that Bowles and Leftwich consistently mismanage the playcalls and most recently, the clock as well. Those two idiots have mastered getting the absolute minimum out of the talent they have on hand.

Handing the team to the idiot who called an unnecessary and suicidal blitz against Stafford (who is elite at handling the blitz) was a colossal blunder and kept the Bucs out of the Super Bowl. I’m all but convinced that Arians handpicked Bowles to promote his own legacy as a head coach. By selecting an utter moron to replace him, Arians now looks like a genius.

  5. OBVIOUS Says:

Or is one of them with questionable speaking skills a little closer to Porky Pig? I can’t quite decide but the logic and critical thinking in the group plays along with cartoon characters. That’s undeniable!

  6. DungyDance Says:

“Adams is pretty convinced that Brady and Bowles are not on the same page and maybe Brady is not even on the same page as his offensive coaches.”

If he is not on the same page as his offensive coaches, then I see that as good news. That would mean there is a guy with huge sway who is bucking for some sort of change.

  7. A40train Says:

Let’s fave it qe are stuck woth dumb and dumber at least another year. Brady will not be here next season and I do not blame him one bit. They are not the answer this team needs as leaders.

  8. mg Says:

Not only are they not on the same page, they are in a different universe.
Cant remember a time in my 70 years where talent is thrown away by the coaching staff in such a short period of time.
    sad.

  9. Reggie Jax Says:

Joe don’t know why you banned me but if it’s because I don’t always like your take. We should dump you with Todd.

  10. JD Says:

    Bowles is INCOMPETANT!

  11. Scubog Says:

Kay Adams would be at the top of my list to replace Giselle.

  12. WillieG Says:

If I’m the Glazers, Bowles is in my office as soon as the plane lands. And I tell him in no uncertain terms that the next time he plays to not lose will the last time he plays to not lose as the head coach of my team.

  13. August 1976 Buc Says:

You lose the locker room when you the Head Coach reeks fear, simple.

Yaking the ball out of Bradys hand?

Coaching from being afraid to lose.

There is a tremendous disconnect with Bowles and being a Head Coach.

It is hard enough to beat another NFL team, but when you have to overcome your head coach too, that’s gets you fired.

The Hot seat Bowles is sitting on has reached the Volcanic level.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  14. SB~LV Says:

    Ya think !
There is a disconnect between me and the Bucs!

  15. #99 Says:

My question is,Why is our Rock star general manager so Quiet this year? no more diving in his pool? No more beers with Bruce? He assembled the very brittle always injured free agents .I think his ass should be on the hot seat with the other 2 clueless idiots..

  16. Manny Says:

Omg so sick of always having ti talk about how stupid bowles and leftwich are every week. I bet brady loves bill b now and misses him more than ever. If bill b had all this talent and wAs coaching they bucs, they would be like 9-2. This is ridiculous. Im sick of it. They arent they trying to change things. Why arent they still doing no risk it no biscuit? If it aint broke dont fix it man. I swear i remember arians or bowles saying they would still be using arians offensive strategy this year. Jason licht needs to do his job and start firing some people and finding some free agent offensive lineman. The best available. Tom brady is not the problem. He is having a pretty damn good year and im tired if everyone complaining about the man. I hope he comes back next season. You just see how greatful you are for the man when you got trask stinking it up or some free agent backup they bring in. 🤦🏻‍♂️

  17. 941bucsfan Says:

Brady looks unproven this year. Looks like a guy thats good enough to not lose, but also not good enough to go get a win.

  18. PassingThru Says:

One attribute about the playcalls strikes me as weird: the calls seemingly get insanely conservative once the Bucs get a small lead. The last game is a good example as it looked like the Bucs were going to break the game wide open after the third quarter TD, you could feel momentum building… only to have Bowles piss it away.

  19. douglas dallier Says:

Nice guys finish last Mr Bowles—-errrrrr—–we need a catagory lower than last for you sir!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Alanbucsfan Says:

Bowles is a good football coach, just not a good Head coach because he’s not a good game manager

  21. NEfan Says:

941 is a proven idiot. Did you watch the Rams game??? This is what this man is famous for. He was 218-0 with a 7 point lead going into the 4th and has 55 game winning drive the most ever and you take the ball from his hands. He hit Jones with a bullet on the Browns 48 yd line. Those 13 seconds give him two more plays to get in FG range. It is apparent Bowles has neutered Brady and could care less about his input. Fire the cannons Bowels is the pirate that sunk the Bucs ship.

Hey has anyone heard from BA or his faking another almost heart attack until the Bucs put a W on the board?

  22. mark2001 Says:

Alan… how quickly we forget the Defensive performance against the Rams last year.

Is he a good D coordinator? Probably. But frankly, I’m not seeing anything close to the ’99 Bucs D.

Is he a good HC? No. Nice of Bruce to try to give one of his guys another chance. But it surely cost us this year. What a waste of talent.

  23. mark2001 Says:

Kay… all you have to do is whistle. LOL.

  24. Beej Says:

After the first quarter and change, it felt like it was gonna be a rout. THEN, we start with the offensive version of a prevent defense

  25. NEfan Says:

Seriously Joe, what was wrong with that post??? Doesn’t matter I am off this site, it’s just as painful reading these posts as it is watching this team go down in flames. Good luck Bucs Fans sorry you have to go through this. But I don’t see the light at the end if the tunnel until Bowles is removed. I will say in the 4 decades I’ve been enjoying this game I have never seen a team torpedo due to coaching like I have the Bucs. Signing off Listen from a far!

  26. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

She nailed it. Licht needs to quit letting other people hire the head coaches

  27. 1sparkybuc Says:

The Bucs have had some historically bad coaches in the past, but none to match the stupidity and ineptness of Bowles. He lacks the will to even try. With his attitude we won’t make the playoffs, and we will be drafting in the top ten. This team would win more games without any coaches. The coaches are a handicap. The Glazers should fire all of them now. Don’t wait til the end of this disastrous season.

  28. GABucsFan Says:

    You can’t fix stupid.

  29. Defense Rules Says:

Strange thought just occurred to me: MAYBE Bowles wasn’t taking the ball out of Tom Brady’s hands; MAYBE he was taking it out of Byron Leftwich’s hands. After looking at the Bucs’ offensive 4th quarter performance PRIOR to that last drive, Bowles probably had zero confidence left in BL’s play-calling.

o 1st 4th qtr drive: Bucs made it to the Browns’ 37 yard line then Brady got a Delay of Game penalty taking it back 5 yards to a 4th-and-7 at the Browns’ 42. THEN Camarda punted … AFTER the Bucs were going for it on 4th-and-2 from the Browns’ 37 but got the delay of game penalty. That series included 2 runs for a total of 5 yards, plus 4 Brady passes, only 1 of which was complete (another drew a DPI that kept the drive alive).

o 2nd 4th qtr drive: Starting at the Bucs’ 45, White ran it for 2 yards, Brady threw complete to White for 5 yards, then short incomplete to Evans. Camarda punted from the Browns 48 and McCollum downed it on the 5 yard line.

o 3rd 4th qtr drive: Disastrous series that started with 2:35 left in the game (plenty of time) from the Tampa 20. White run off left tackle for MINUS 3 yards. Brady incomplete short left to Evans. Brady sacked for MINUS 7 yards. Camarda punted from the Bucs’ 10 yard line. Browns got it at the Bucs 46 yard line after a 12-yard return. THAT set up the Browns’ tying TD with only 32 seconds left (our run defense totally sucked BTW).

o 4th 4th qtr drive: Bucs got it after the kickoff at the 25-yard line. First play: SHORT PASS to White for 1 yard. Duh. 14 seconds later the deep pass to Julio for 26 yards. Time out Bucs with 8 seconds left. Brady INCOMPLETE SHORT left to Brate from the Browns’ 48. Brady INCOMPLETE DEEP RIGHT to end regulation tied at 17-17.

That whole 4th quarter was a disaster. White 3 runs for ZERO yards; Vaughn 1 run for 4 yards. Brady 12 passing attempts: 1 ended in a sack, 1 was an incompletion deep that resulted in a DPI, 4 deep passes with 1 completed, 6 short passes with 3 completed. And oh ya, 2 penalties on that 1st drive that were both critical (1 on 3rd down, 1 on 4th down).

The Bucs’ offense in that 4th quarter was a disaster. Not only did it spit-and-sputter the entire quarter, but it set up the Browns on the Bucs’ 46 yard line for their tying TD (aided by our incompetent S/Ts play). There’s enough blame to go around for EVERYONE in that debacle.

  30. David Says:

    Defense rules

I understand what you’re saying, but look at the majority of their touchdown drives over the last two months. It seems it’s when time is of the essence and they abandon BL‘s nonsense. They let Brady actually throw the ball more than 2 yards down the field and they play up-tempo.

You’re on the road, I don’t care if it’s Cleveland or Kansas City, you never never never never play for OT on the road if there’s a chance to attempt a game-winning field goal…. Especially when you have a great quarterback.

  31. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Mark –
The D is pretty good, not 49ers level, but better management of situations- they’d be even better.

  32. Defense Rules Says:

David … I do get it, but our problems are much deeper than can be solved by just firing a coach or two. Our OLine is a disaster, run-blocking AND pass-blocking (just look at the results of Sunday’s offensive production). It’s obvious watching Brady in the pocket that he doesn’t trust them. It’s also obvious that he & Mike Evans aren’t even close to being on the same page.

And don’t get me started on the Brady-Leftwich relationship or on the Brady-Bowles relationship. Lord only knows what’s REALLY going through Brady’s head on some of these play calls.

  33. mark2001 Says:

Alan. Not saying they aren’t “pretty good”. But with this talent should be great. And those “situational mistakes” will destroy you in a big game.

  34. THOMAS PFALZ Says:

Bowles reminds me of Raheem Morris but worse.

  35. Bucamania Says:

The clueless coaching staff should be on whatever page Tom is on.

  36. EricThe Viking Says:

She’s hot. Our babies will be smart and beautiful.

  37. captivajim Says:

i was surprised that Brady ,himself, didn’t call time-out right after pass to julio-but as we now know toiletbowles told him not to .. last yr ,with BA as HC -no question that Brady would have called time-out.
I’m getting the feeling that Bowles is so emotionally insecure ;that he has to prove to everyone that he’s the boss -not Brady..a bit like bellicheat during Brady’s ’19 season with Pats. that didn’t end well for that team either ..

  38. orlbucfan Says:

Hey DR, Brady comes out with this extensive playlist taped to his arm. I listen to BR but always see it on highlights. That means he can change a play anytime he wants. What’s his problem if the coaches call the wrong play? He losing his hearing?

  39. Statguy Says:

Lori Locust would be a better HC at this point

  40. adam from ny Says:

if the glazers are thinking “long game” and “lean years”, bowles might be the perfect fit for a few lean years while cap strapped…

    think about it…

have a scapegoat that’s born to lose…then dismissed when the glazers are ready to build and spend…

some teams actually like to have lean years between successful stints

  41. adam from ny Says:

also all the players see tom has not resigned…

so he’s sorta like a lame duck quarterback in the sense that he’s gone or outta here…
(we all know he’s the furthest from lame – he’s the goat)

maybe many within the franchise view this as a transitional year…

sad viewpoint, but something to consider

  42. Tucker Says:

No quarterback is going rogue all the time no matter how big the list on his arm is not only that but he is limited by the personnel that is on the field. This coaching staff has smashed the confidence of the team so much that they are not even executing well on the things that they are built for and that is just bad coaching. Predictable because the sequencing is just awful defenses have been mic’d up calling what’s about to happen just terrible. Leftwich should have been fired ages ago a change is what’s been needed and yet their stubbornness won’t allow them to and the talk of well it’s too late in the season is nonsense because it can’t get worse so you might as well hail Mary something for different results.

  43. Goatfarmer Says:

    Brian Flores or Eric Bienemy.

    And Kay Adams.

  44. firethecannons Says:

No doubt this (bowles losses)will only get worse, it has been progressing all the way to here and by the final game, there will no doubt be a reckoning, it will be hard to believe the owners waited that long. The media/press has to keep asking the questions we all demand answers too, they should not be afraid to ask them–in fact it should get easier to ask them as it will be demanded by the entire nfl as each game unfolds.

  45. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

    Brady is a detailed quarterback.
Bowles is not a detailed coach.
Detailed coaches are sticklers in time management.

  46. ClwJB Says:

The disconnect is Todd has no guts and Brady has the biggest bal*s of them all!!!!

  47. calbucsfan Says:

Got rid of DirecTV satellite this year and only have their steaming package now which does not include the NFL channel, thanks for the KA clip Joe, miss seeing her.

  48. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

    Adam from ny

That’s an interesting thought. That will definitely be an angle to watch as the next couple years unfold.

  49. Koo1 Says:

They would rather lose than let Brady lead them to victory.
It is all about credit for these clowns. From Bruce Arians to Bowles to Leftvitch.
They don’t want people saying it is all Brady. Period .

  50. View from 132 Says:

Great analysis and she didn’t even have pants on.

  51. unbelievable Says:

@DR – I hear what you’re saying about Leftwich, but the ONE area they have actually been consistently good at is going hurry up. And as Kay said, you have BRADY, the best in those moments.

ANNNNNNDDDDDD – if they did go 3 and out, there was barely any time left and you happen to have one of the strongest punters in the entire league! There’s just no way CLE scores at that point outside of a turnover. And again, you’ve got the QB with the lowest (or one of the lowest) INT ratios in the entire league.
