5 Bucs Did Not Practice; Cameron Brate Returns

November 9th, 2022

Cameron Brate

Our beloved Bucs were back on the One Buc Palace practice field today — the fly to Germany late Thursday — and familiar faces were on the sidelines.

Julio Jones (knee/rest), Russell Gage (hamstring) left guard Luke Goedeke (foot) and Shaq Mason (ankle/rest) did not practice. Neither did backup linebacker J.J. Russell.

Cameron Brate (neck) was full participation, as was Antoine Winfield, Jr., who remains in the concussion protocol. Practicing is among the Return To Play steps following a head injury.

The greatest receiver in Bucs history, Mike Evans, was limited in practice nursing his bad ankle and a fresh rib injury courtesy of a crushing blow early against the Rams on Sunday.

Joe was ecstatic to not see defensive tackle Akiem Hicks’ name on this list!

    Any new intel on Jensen?

  2. Marine Buc Says:

I’m glad Brate is OK. Neck injuries are no joke…

I would rather have Otton as our starting TE at this point. Brate should be #2.

  3. Wokeizdunn Says:

This is all good news. Let’s hope they show to play in Germany on Sunday. Can’t stand these international games…especially giving up a home game. Thanks Glazers and Goodell. It’s all about the Shield; screw the fans. Safe flight Bucs! Get even healthier. Let’s Go Ryan J.

  4. SteelStudBuc Says:

Jensen has been seen with no crutches, no knee brace many times now. I have a feeling he may be available soon…. division title may be in reach even with sub par performance by this team… smells like a Bew York Giants style playoff run.

  5. jimm Says:

or #3 to protect him and give ko kieft more of a chance to develop

  6. 1#bucsfan Says:

Man I’ve bin a big fan of Brate since he came to the Bucs. Glad to see he’s ok but let otton keep building chemistry with Brady. The kid can play get koi reps too. Let Brate be a back up.

I love Cam Brate. He’s a great dude and an awesome Buccaneer and teammate.

But he should honestly retire for health reasons.

He’s had multiple concussive-type situations in the past few years.

    That’s when they become dangerous.

  8. Erik Hesson | Fine Artist | Founder of UniqueModernArt.com Says:

I don’t want to see Cam Brate potentially take his own life 20 years from now because of CTE.

    Real talk.

  9. David Says:

Good news about Hicks and Winfield, both could be very important moving forward. Hopefully Gage comes back after the bye week.

As for Julio… I expect nothing at this point. Extremely disappointed when all we heard was how great he looked in training camp. The guy can’t run a 30 yard sprint without needing time off afterwards

  10. SOEbuc Says:

Off topic, I heard the airport will be closed on Thursday for a large storm. What’s the new plan?

  11. JimmyfromNY Says:

Play them both Brady loves the two tight ends set . Opens up the middle of the field takes away double coverage from one of our other receivers.

  12. richbucsfan Says:

Yes, yes, the uber mysterious knee injury. Hopefully, he’ll be able to practice in 3 or years… 😜

This team is so loaded with drama. (smh)

  13. Coburn Says:

If mason and goedeke don’t suit up who the heck would even play at RG? And if God forbid said person got injured in game who would come off the bench?

  14. Redeemer Says:

I thought for sure Evans cracked some ribs on that play. QBs with rib injuries can wear flack jackets, too restrictive for recievers. Agree on Brate boys. Hope he takes inventory after the year.

  15. Anonymous Says:

I don’t want Brate to ever suit up again too scary

  16. PassingThru Says:

Having Akiem Hicks back is a big deal.

I sure with there was one healthy Bucs starting WR.

  17. bucs4life Says:

Maybe Cade Otton can teach him how to finally become a good tight end.

  18. Scooter Says:

9 hour flight takes a couple days to get acclimated. As for the Seahawks? Maybe 14 hours or whatever. Rest up brudders. Let’s make it real…

  19. Capt.Tim Says:

    Hicks is always hurt
But man, I love to watch him play when he can

  20. Ed Says:

Brate and Gronk played well together in the Super Bowl year. There’s no reason why Brate and Otton can’t do the same, where neither has to be a backup.

Otton looked like Gronk with the outstanding seam play in “that” drive against the Rams we all know well; then the touchdown play: no “deer-in-the-headlights” look from Otton; he looked like Gronk again; very impressive.

More Otton, more Rachaad, and maybe just more starters who -don’t-! already have a Super Bowl ring.

  21. Ed in Salt Lake Says:

Jensen is not going to be available SOON! He still has a slight limp and if/when he gets cleared to practice, it’s going to take some time to build his stamina, conditioning, and muscle endurance. Best case scenario is he plays the last game or two or comes back for playoffs. I don’t see anything before than realistically!

  22. Bucs Orlando Says:

How much is Julio being paid per snap at this point?

  23. Goatfarmer Says:

Reporter: “Byron, do you have any tweaks to your play script, anything new that might keep your opponent from keying on you so easily?”

ByRon: “Mmmmpppphhh, uh, I mean, we do what we do and that is to get better at trying to get 3rd and mangleable, — drrrrrrr — uhm….yeah I mean some times it work and some time it don’t. . We just gotta keep calling the runs and eventchully they’ll start clicking. It’s early.”

  24. SOEbuc Says:

60/40 Otton/Brate. That’s a great duo if our offense was not terribly terrible.

  25. Jeff Says:

Brate’s back! Now another target that’s good at dropping perfect passes! It’s a Tampa Bay tradition!

  26. George Says:

Beaten needs to retire . Or least sit out the rest of the season.

  27. teacherman777 Says:

    RIP Vincent Jackson

  28. Gofortheface30 Says:

Otton is much MUCH better at this point. Zero chance brate has a 5 catch 70 yard game in him and doing what otton did on last drive. Play your best players please for the love of god

  29. Scooter Says:

@ Joe. I didn’t text the 9 hour flight text. If necessary I could change my handle.
