Todd Bowles Has Update On Antoine Winfield, Luke Goedeke

October 24th, 2022

Bucs coach Todd Bowles.

Head Todd Bowles appeared before the local pen and mic club this morning as the team is full-go in preparation for Thursday night’s game against the Crows.

Bowles did have a couple of updates on two starters.

Safety Antoine Winfield, Bowles said, is likely out for Thursday with a concussion. That really isn’t a surprise. A guy getting his bell run on a Sunday would be a borderline miracle to get cleared to play four days later.

On Luke Goedeke, Bowles said the left guard will start Thursday but he will certainly be in a rotation with backup Nick Leverett.

Joe is confident no one is happier about this than Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich. This means Leftwich can still try to run Playoff Lenny up the middle behind Goedeke for negative yardage.

  1. Lakeland Says:

I really don’t understand why they let Jerome Whitehead, and Alex Cappa walk.

  2. Deeez NATZ Says:

Pathetic…This guy is worse than Luke warm lovey-dovey…Can’t fire his ash though, that would be the R word lol..

  3. Bojim Says:

    lol

  4. Upstate NY Buc Says:

This team Had to wake up this morning embarrassed. Because I’m not even a player and I’m embarrassed about my front door. Go Bucs!!!

  5. SB~LV Says:

    Bye bye Todd Bowles

  6. Coburn Says:

I thought Leverett looked better when in. Anyone else have observations on that one?

  7. Lakeland Says:

    I meant Jordan Whitehead

  8. Tye Says:

THIS GUY IS STILL A BUC!….
One of the Worst HC ever…

  9. Da Bucs Guy Says:

    Incompetent coaches!

  10. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Whenever fans think a HC should be fired, they automatically call him the worst HC ever.

We’ve def had worse…but give him time. He might claim the title.

What am I saying? The man does not know how to motivate a team. All the work Arians did changing the culture and we’re seeing Bowles reversing it in the span of less than 2 months.

We need him gone before more damage is done…because HCs do not get demoted.

  11. AbucAway Says:

Wish he would update us on Byron Leftwichs’ injury to his playcallimus creatives and if he’ll be a go for this week’s game.

  12. SB~LV Says:

WTF are the Glazer’s waiting for??????

  13. Bucamania Says:

It’s pretty hard to fail this badly with Tom Brady as your QB.

    Bowles is something special.

  14. Wild Bill Says:

Poor coaching, poor game planning, poor execution. So what’s left ? Nada ! This team is a mess. Hard to watch. Hard to believe. This team has lost its identity!

  15. Marine Buc Says:

    Who cares?

Let’s talk about the draft and the coming rebuild…

Hopefully they leave both Bowles and BL in place so we can get the first overall pick.

  16. SB~LV Says:

What was Tony Dungys waiting rule
    24 or 48 hours?
There are exceptions to every rule.
This situation is past the tipping point
    Act now !
Clean house and cobble together a coaching staff to finish the season
Or let the players make the game plan and call the plays

  17. SB~LV Says:

Get Bowles face off these pages!

  18. Jack Sparrow Says:

I thought they left Bowles and Leftwich in Carolina. So, it did not happen, then Thursday night wil be brutal. Same result. Bucs 3 (if they are lucky) , Ravens 32 (if they got bored).

  19. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Joe

I can’t wait for your next confidence poll…

    LOL!!!!!!

You need to do one for BL.

  20. Bucanero Says:

    Whatever. Go bucs!

  21. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

We DO NOT need a rebuild. Not a complete one.

We need a QB of the future…but we cannot tank to get a draft pick. Not with Brady leading us, plus it send a message to the team that it is okay to quit.

The only way we get a high draft pick is through trade then. So who would we trade? Brady? Though he is among the best, he won’t get a high first rounder.

Mike Evans? Cap numbers do not jive for a trade. Godwin? Won’t get a first rounder.

Via? Now he might get a first rounder…but I for one do not want to see him go.

No…we can’t really trade for a high first round pick either. The only other options are collecting draft capital and hope it’s enough, or signing another veteran.

  22. HC Grover Says:

Bowles is tied for the lead of NFC South. It may be that 3 teams with losing records are tied at the end. That will come down to tiebreakers. There will be no NFC South Wild Card. Whoever wins will be one and done in the playoffs. That might be why the keep this charade going.

  23. Tye Says:

IF this is a ‘Rooney rule’ thing or an act of special favor because of the ‘need for more ‘minority coaches’, its counteractive…

I am all for diversity BUT we need QUALITY not quantity…
Purposely employing ‘a minority’ just for the sack of doing so and him failing horribly only fuels the football society that they are lesser than their counterparts…

These teams need to weed out those who are a BUST as HC no matter their appearance and find coaches that will build quality teams….

A failure at HC needs to go!

  24. CChead Says:

Ive got an update for Todd Bowles. You are a failure. Maybe you should sit out the next 10 games with a mental disability.

  25. AllHailJPP Says:

Goedeke in. Watch you lines up right over him and runs right through him (cough….calias campbell)

  26. Bucamania Says:

Bucs offense now averaging 17.7 points per game. Last year it was 30 ppg.

    With Tom Brady playing QB.

What an epic failure of coaches and players.

  27. Cover deuce Says:

Incredibly stupid decision to keep trotting Goedeke out there. He’s not ready and Leverett has shown up big a few times now between this year and last. Just baffling all around.

  28. Marine Buc Says:

Can you imagine the smack JPP is going to talk after he sacks TB12 three times on Thursday night?

    Oh my… Brutal.

  29. Ash Says:

They are going to rotate the guards still? Oh my goodness we have seen six games of Luke he might be the worst guard in the league and you are still going to put him in a rotation this head coach there are no words to explain this stubbornness.

  30. gotbbucs Says:

Running a guard rotation is what a rebuilding team would do to evaluate for next year. They’re just trying to save the psyche of the rookie by not flat out benching him.

How about sitting Fournette for a half too? How much worse can it get?

How about activating Thompkins if Gage’s hammy is still giving him fits to try and add some speed and quickness to the reciever group?

All options should be on the table. Trotting out the same exact lineup week in and week out with the same game plan and expecting a magical transformation is season suicide.

  31. SB~LV Says:

    Bye Bye Bowles
    BBB
    Build Back Better

  32. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Ash

You are close. Goedeke is ranked like #71 out of 73 guards graded this season…

  33. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Winfield out will hurt….we need Davis & SMB back…

  34. BucsFan81 Says:

Hey if it’s not working keep trying the same thing over and over. That’s insanity and clearly Goedeke is not the solution.

  35. BucsFanSince76 Says:

In your next confidence poll try putting jason Lichts name in there for biggest reason for failure if you want to be fair.

  36. BigZ Says:

67 is bad. Been bad all season. I iso on him and gets blown up,whiffs or the old ole. He was suppose to be a solid run blocker. Haven’t seen it, nor has Lenny.

9 is just as bad. I never liked either pick.
JTS is an athletic Eric Curry.

  37. Infomeplease Says:

OK BL, I’m not a coach, I haven’t even played the game since high school, but I do watch a lot of games on TV. My observation with your play calling, when you find something that works, you don’t go back to it! Why? Other coaches do. Or they run the same formation and convert it to a different play! You know, to fool with the defenses heads!! Seems to me if a play works once, you keep doing it till the defense shows that they can stop it!!!
Like wise when a play doesn’t work I believe you should not try it again!
My observation with you is, you believe doing the same thing gets you different results! Some wise man Albert Einstein once said ” Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results!!”
Lately BL your offense is in Insanity mode!!!! It’s time to fix it!!!

  38. Quiet Chaos Says:

Let’s call out the lack of production from Shaq & JTS!

  39. Stringer Bell Says:

    @Lakeland

You know what’s funny? They called Jordan Whitehead ‘Jerome’ all day yesterday on NFL Gameday Live. Evvvvvery time

  40. JBBucs_06 Says:

Reality is that we are playing a LOT of rookies (1st time starters). Ko, Cade, Luke, Hainsey all on Offense. In comparison, last year THERE WERE NONE. That’s over a third of offensive starters with a 1st place in division schedule. On D, there’s only JTS in the 1st few weeks, but lately Logan and McCullum have been thrust into more playing time.

In watching the Panthers game, the fire seems to be gone from this team. THAT I can’t explain. The D is not able to feed off of the O, reminding me when the D got discouraged after JWs interceptions. There’s a lack of belief that that O will dominate like the last two years.

Byron has to get creative and possibly go hurry up to limit what the opposing D can do to us making assignments simpler.

  41. THOMAS PFALZ Says:

C’mon Glazers fire Bowles & Lefty. Especially sad ass Lefty. What a joke except I’m not laughing. Let BA come back as HC to finish out the season. Make Clyde the interim OC

  42. Your Mom Says:

Joe’s cynicism is rejuvenating for us annoyed helpless fans

  43. macajubav Says:

    @ Lakeland
not enough money for all these guys !
Cappa and Whitehead got contracts we couldn’t pay, or at minimum had to try to risk doing without. We were fine without whitehead while Logan Ryan was playing, IMO.

We really need to get rid of Bowels and BL, if not for this year (I don’t see why Brady isn’t just taking over, F them) , we certainly don’t want the next few years getting run into the ground with those two. Let’s sh1t the bed next year with a real couch then get a top QB in the draft. Trask is going to take us nowhere.

  44. Cobraboy Says:

    Raheem Bowles

  45. Cobraboy Says:

Somewhere, Suh is sipping a cold one with a smile.

BTW: JPP comes to RayJay Thursday night. Think he’ll be motivated?

  46. captivajim Says:

not only did Licht let Cappa walk -but he never made effort to trade for a proven vet replacement –because he thought he as so good at judging talent ??? But then he spent money on Jones , hicks,, rudolf & bernard..–what genius !!!!!!!

And , never lifted a finger to replace Jensen with proven playrr !!!!!

    Its all on LICHT……

  47. Bucamania Says:

My update on Goedeke is he is still HORRIBLE. The only reason he’s playing at all is because Licht doesn’t want to admit drafting the glass eater was a huge mistake.

  48. Vadertime Says:

What a horrible, miserable, terrible game that was yesterday. The offense couldn’t get their act together for a 4th week in a row. Too many dropped passes. No running game to speak of. The defense could not stop a team playing their 3rd string QB after a week in which they traded 2 of their best offensive players and fired their head coach. Something is very, very wrong in Tampa. Todd Bowles needs to fix this before he finds himself looking for a new job.

  49. Capt.Tim Says:

Goedeke isnt the problem. Cohesiveness is the problem.
Changing out another starter now, will just make things worse.
Gonna have to live with the line, and let them grow together.

Biggest issue is coaching, and entire team seems to have lost focus.
Im still putting my money on 9-8

  50. Goatfarmer Says:

    Doesn’t matter.

  51. macajubav Says:

squandering Brady’s final year, very depressing. But TB seems to be equally responsible in this nonsense. All these back up QBs are throwing better than him. And all these friggin grounders he throws. I understand he has always thrown it where only his receiver can grab it , but he seems to be throwing just too darn low these days, can’t play short stop and grab these on one hop TB.

  52. macajubav Says:

lets face it, this team would not be taking a dive right now if TB12 was still engaged and motivated. TB12 was the alpha and at minimum the offense took his every word for gospel. TB12 must be disconnected such that Bowels is now demoralizing the team as the “backup leader” he had been until TB12 vacated the top of the hill.
