“It Hasn’t Always Been Sunshine And Rainbows Early In The Year”

October 6th, 2022

A classy, veteran team with a championship core like Tampa Bay has should be confident and unwavering when facing early-season turmoil.

And yes, the Bucs are in a little turmoil. Losing two consecutive home games is an issue for any team with Super Bowl aspirations.

The Bucs started 2020 slowly and finished with a flury, an eight-game winning streak that included the Super Bowl. In 2021, Tampa Bay started well but got slapped around in Week 3 by the Rams before squeaking out a 19-17 fourth-quarter comeback win in New England in Week 4.

As Chris Godwin noted yesterday, “it hasn’t always been sunshine and rainbows early in the year.”

Godwin went on to talk about the daily grind and how quality chemistry comes over time and builds daily through a long 17-game season.

Joe absolutely gets why there’s no panic at One Buc Palace. Offensive players have seen how dominant the defense can be, and the defense saw the offense break out Sunday against the Chiefs. The kicking game has been good and the coaching staff won Super Bowl together.

Beat the Falcons on Sunday and order is restored with the Bucs standing alone atop the NFC South in a weak year for the NFC.

Lose on Sunday at home and, well, then there’s a serious problem.

What isn’t happening is the offense breaking out early. Other backs need opportunities to develop a more explosive running game.

You want to talk about a must win? Can u imagine this team losing 4 home games in a row including the Rams playoff debacle? This team sucks just for putting themselves in that situation.

the Bucs are a measuring stick for other teams????????????? I’ve been watching the NFL for 60 years and here’s my 2 cents. (no Lefties i didn’t say 2 trillion). In my opinion, the bucs need an oil change. get it?

Get the passing game going early and the running game will open up.

Good article Joe. I think we are at our best when we are a passing team. I know lots of fans want more balance. Our coaches know how to teach pass blocking. Brady gets the ball out quickly. We have skilled receivers.

Hopefully, Otton becomes more of a player as the season goes on.

not even a quarter of the season has passed, the big test is getting stronger in december and january

We’re 2-2, next game is a division game, need a win here. How do you trust R White to get more touches with the ball security issues and poor decisions on special teams? I’d like to see Vaughn get in the game over White.

  8. Hodad Says:

This will be a hard fought win, they all will. I don’t believe the Bucs can roll over any opponent left to play. Few teams have easy wins in the NFL. That said, this is one the Bucs, and must win.

Having special olympians calling the plays and trying to teach grown men how to tackle doesn’t help.
