Injuries Force Big Role For Keanu Neal; Shaq Is In

October 16th, 2022

Safety Keanu Neal

The list of inactive Buccaneers for today’s game in Pittsburgh has been released.

And there’s bad news and great news.

The great news is that Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett will play. He made a last-minute appearance on the injury report yesterday with an “illness.”

Out healthy are No. 3 quarterback Kyle Trask and tight end Kyle Rudolph. Out injured are Akiem Hicks, Julio Jones, cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting, safety/corner Logan Ryan, and safety Mike Edwards.

That’s three key players in the secondary!

Edwards was a gametime decision, and his absence means free agent signee and former Falcons Pro Bowler Keanu Neal will be asked to carry a heavy load today.

Neal has been inconsistent this season in limited action. But Joe’s seen enough good to think a starting role might actually help Neal settle in and play faster and more consistently.

Keep an eye on bone-crushing No. 22.

Zion will be out there in nickel I hope Bowels doesn’t strand him against one of the Lers top 2 WRs. Time for Neal to recall some glory days and time for the rook to grow up. And time for Diva White to deliver some meaningful run stops, the over-yacking prima Donna.

Keanu Neal will show today that he’s back to his old Falcon’s playing level. The guy just needs reps. He will cause a fumble today, that’s my prediction.

  3. Leopold Stotch Says:

Edwards and Ryan out is not what I wanted to see. Not good. D better be on their A game today.

  4. Buc1987 Says:

    Bucs 20 Steelers 17.

    Go Bucs!!!

  5. Bucsfan13 Says:

We miss Jordan Whitehead. He was a beast in stopping the run. We could’ve had him for cheap. I’m still upset we let him go

  6. Defense Rules Says:

Looking at the current roster on the team’s website, appears that the Bucs have realigned their roster somewhat due to injuries. Number of offensive & defensive players are now the opposite of what we started out at on Game 1. Several new additions MAY actually get field time towards the end of the game.

Noticed that on defense we’re now carrying 6 CBs, 5 Safeties, 4 ILBs, 5 OLBs & 7 DLinemen for a total of 27 on defense.

    Carrying 3 QB, 3 RB, 7 WR, 4 TE & 8 Olinemen for a total of 25 on offense, plus 1 P, 1 K & 1 LS on Special Teams.

Good thing the NFL expanded the game-day roster from 53 to 55 this year or we’d be in serious trouble.

If the D is not bored they might do something like make a tackle.

  8. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

    Bucs 41 Steelers 17

    Brady 400 yards/ 3 TD’s

Devin White overcomes his boredom issue – 2 sacks

    Antoine Winfied – 1 sack, 1 pick-six.

  9. CrackWise Says:

In all honesty, that game last week against ATL was boring. So DW was just saying what we all felt. Seriously, I failed to get excited at any point in that game. I mean it’s not the first time I have gotten bored during a Bucs game BUT it was the first time during the Brady era and the first time enjoying it because we won.

My prediction for this game. IT WON’T BE BORING!!!

  10. Rod Munch Says:

Whenever I noticed him this year, he’s been pretty awful. Hopefully he can change that opinion today.

  11. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Man, I want Julio’s job and paycheck.

  12. Buc1987 Says:

    No live thread today Joe?

  13. teacherman777 Says:

I just saw Neal CRUSH somebody.

I hope we sign Jordan Whitehead and Neal next offseason.

They could both play this hybrid safety/linebacker position that I am envisioning.

They can both play dime package linebacker and safety.

I would love to see Neal and Whitehead putting FEAR into the team we are playing.

And for the fun of it, let’s sign Kwon Alexander next season also to rotate with David and White.

  14. teacherman777 Says:

    We are the Bucs.

We need hard hitters to honor the legacy of John Lynch.

  15. teacherman777 Says:

On the last sack of Brady in the Red Zone.

I saw Goedeke get thrown like a rag doll.

We absolutely must sign a veteran OG/C.

    It’s urgent.

Sign a second rounder for the best OG we can find.

We need a guy who can also back up Hainsey this year and Jensen next year.

  16. Anthony Says:

    First prayers to Cam Brate.
Now tampas coaches need to grow a set and stop letting Brady do what he wants.
Enuff of the daysoff enuff screaming like a spoiled child enuff drama focus on football or sit. I’m tired everytime he’s hit ir sacked he screams at his line. How about his low passes or missed reads. Or how about not being with his team for walkthroughs day before a game. Really. I’ve been a fan of his since Michigan days but his actions this year are to much. Wow focus on football or go play pickleball
