FOX Announcement Puts Rob Gronkowski’s Future In Question

October 16th, 2022

New old gig.

Yeah, you know, Joe is still holding out hope that foot-rubbing tight end Rob Gronkowski proves his agent and model girlfriend correct and returns to the Bucs this season.

The Bucs miss him.

Last week, Gronk put out a Twitter where he said he will join the FOX Sunday pregame crew. For 2019, before he joined the Bucs, he worked on FOX’s pregame show.

(Joe never saw Gronk on that show because, with the exception of Adam Schein’s “That Other Pregame Show” seen on CBS Sports Network, NFL pregame shows are a waste of electricity.)

Then FOX also put one up announcing Gronk will be part of their Sunday pregame shows the rest of the season.

So how will Gronk do pregame shows and play for the Bucs?

Joe’s not jumping off the ledge quite yet. Joe is confident Gronk’s agent, oily Drew Rosenhaus, has a clause in his FOX contract that allows Gronk to wiggle out if he wants to return to the football field.

And if you notice in the Twitter, nowhere does it say Gronk will be in studio each Sunday. Gronk could easily do a goofy pre-recorded piece that runs on Sunday mornings and that way Gronk could, in theory, still work for the pregame show and play football.

But Joe has to admit, this isn’t very encouraging for Gronk returning to the Bucs.

Our fun big lunker is done. He’d have to start training seriously now, and why? That dude got abused like I’ve not seen, and rarely did a defender get a PF because of it. He’d be met with helmet to ribs shots as soon as he got back on the field in December. No way he comes back.

I miss him, Brady misses him, the Bucs miss him, the NFL misses him. But he doesn’t miss us, and that is good for him.

  2. Marc Coppola Says:

He put his Tampa condo/mansion/penthouse up for sale the other day. Gronk isn’t coming back folks, sad to say.

  3. sasquatch Says:

    “I’m done with football.”

Take him at his word and stop this nonsense.

  4. Winny Testaverde Says:

Well put, G-Farmer. That spearing to the ribs/back/lung he took from the repugnant Rams probably did him in. In New England most nefarious defenders dove at his knees instead. Good for you Gronk…going out on top.

  5. unbelievable Says:

    He’s done. Get over it.

  6. AbucAway Says:

Thank you for r the article, Joe. And the pic.
I really miss this dude playing football.

  7. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Tide Pods

  8. captivajim Says:

Cannot blame him –he took a beating; cracked ribs ,punctured lung , etc ..Really enjoyed watching him play , but wish him well in whatever he decides to do next .
He had a dam good run ..

time for the rookies to step up

  9. George Says:

Gronk was never coming back. Why get his head beat in at this point?

  10. Kody Says:

    CADE AND KO

THOSE are the only 2 stud TEs we need to be talking about from now on no

  11. JP Says:

Pretty good site but if you can’t appreciate the fantastic chemistry of Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan, JJ, and now add Gronk you are missing something personality wise, meanwhile, you’re posting the rock Riley podcast , snore….yawn….. and may have loved brooks as.a buc, nice guy,, but Derrick and Ira, my gosh law energy , sleepfest there as well.

  12. steele Says:

Maybe it’s time to stop waiting for foot-rubbing Gronk and start praying for foot-stomping Suh or some other legit DT help, and some legit pass rush help too?

  13. Bucschamp Says:

Good gig. If he do well this will set him for life without injuries.

  14. Elita Vita Says:

Well written Goatfarmer. We all miss him. He is not coming back. It’s the time to accept that, be happy for him and thank him for the times of joy he brought to us. He gets to go to the HOF separate from his BFF Tom Brady this way as well. We love you, you big hunk Gronk, and thank you for being you.

  15. In5D Says:

It’s all part of the drama. Gronk WILL be back!!!

  16. Lakeland Steve Says:

It’s a shame because besides his play on the field he was a great teammate in the locker room. He gave the team a little extra boost just by being there. I’m still going to hold out a little hope but once the bye week is gone I think that is it for any comeback if he hasn’t returned by then.

  17. Hodad Says:

    Good for him.

  18. Listnfrmafar Says:

He did the Fox gig before, he was horrible, surprised they took him back.

  19. #8 Says:

    Suh.

  20. BUCkleup Says:

Gronk was banged up and running in cement shoes by the end. Hall of Famer but let’s move on already. Especially after 88 showed promise last week. Time to move on Joe.

  21. Pewter Power Says:

Did get over it he’s done and Bucs needing him in no reason for him to change his mind. That would be like Ali Marpet saying the line is playing weak I better unretire and help out!

It will take a long time before they find a tight end without that body toe and skill set. It’s like people forgot how this offense used to play before gronk got here

  22. David Says:

    Give it up! He’s gone.
It’s all about OTTON & KO

  23. A Bucs Fan Says:

They definitely miss him in the locker room and on the field. Although, ultimately, I don’t think Gronk is healthy enough to play ball. He’s done.

  24. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Well, I guess that money they’ve been saving for Gronk can go elsewhere……Suh, OBJ…..I just don’t want to give up a draft pick…..

  25. D-Rome Says:

(Joe never saw Gronk on that show because, with the exception of Adam Schein’s “That Other Pregame Show” seen on CBS Sports Network, NFL pregame shows are a waste of electricity.)

Agreed Joe. They should cut those shows to a half hour. I only watch the last 15 minutes anyways.

  26. Browsing from DC Says:

@Goatfarmer. Absolutely. Unlike other TEs (or receivers in general) Gronk probably took more hits per reception than anyone. Is there a NextGen stat out there? Lol. Most go down on the first hit. Gronk would drag the first (and second and sometimes third) would-be tackler another 15 yards before going down. His “beastliness” led to getting hit multiple times to bring the big fella down. And yes, some of those extra hits were aimed at his knees and other “questionable” spots.

We’ll always have his highlight reels on YouTube. Dominant like no other. Cheers to a long and healthy life after football!

  27. OBVIOUS Says:

Good Bye. Have a good life. NEXT…….. PLEASE!

  28. Jeff Says:

    He’s not coming back.

  29. K2 Says:

When Gronk celebrates his 80th birthday these rumors will probably stop.

  30. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Gronk is done, at least with football. He put his Condo up for sale.
Time to say goodbye, and embrace Cade Otten!

  31. Maniac Buc Says:

There was never a chance Gronk was coming back. He’s done. If it wasn’t for Brady, he would have never come back the first time. He’s seems to be the only one who knows it’s over for him. Listen to that man.

  32. lambchop Says:

We will miss Gronk. The dude was elite! But the punctured lung and cracked ribs reminded him of why he left.

Aside from not playing from us, which is a bummer, it is so cool that he is one of the few elite players that didn’t let football define him to the point where it was hard to move on. This guy used football to do other things. Football didn’t use him till the dire end. You have to respect that. Gronk walking away is a harder decision than Barry Sanders or Megatron walking away. One was just tired of carrying the load of a poverty franchise, while the other had too many injuries with limited team success on that same poverty franchise.

  33. lambchop Says:

These two are gonna make some beautiful babies together. LOL.

  34. MadMax Says:

    He’ll be back, trust me!

  35. SPARKY Says:

Gronk was on Fox pregame, he looks in great shape. He definitely hasn’t quit lifting the weights. Just saying.

  36. HC Grover Says:

Gronk is now a tee vee star!!!

  37. Thadeus Says:

He doesn’t come back, there are no playoff’s.
