Dream Game For Mike Evans

October 7th, 2022

On the cusp of Bucs history.

Joe heard Mike Evans interviewed earlier this year and be asked what matchups he’s looking forward to on the Bucs’ schedule.

The context of the question surrounded opponents, but Evans talked about how much he has his eye on teams that play a lot of man coverage and will give him 1-on-1 matchups. Evans wants to win every game, so when it comes to looking ahead, he’s mostly drooling about the chance to have a big day on the field.

Enter the Falcons on Sunday.

They blitz a lot and play a lot of man coverage.

Evans can expect to match up against beastly third-year cornerback A.J. Terrell, who is no Marshon Lattimore when it comes to covering Evans. Today, Evans said he can’t wait.

“I love it. Top corners that play match – not much safety help – I love that. I love it,” Evans said at One Buc Palace. “I hope I get a lot of that for the remainder of the season.”

Joe hopes Evans’ dreams come true in about 48 hours. He’s healthy and the Falcons also should have their hands full focused on Chris Godwin, Russell Gage and Julio Jones, who are all expected to play.

Mike Evans is 100% the best football player on the team, an all time Buc and a great dude off the field. Derrick Brooks, Selmon, Sapp, Ronde, Evans in that order as all time Bucs

  19. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Evans is the best receiver in the league, and has been for years. I will accept no argument.

  20. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Evans is approaching Ronde Barber territory for second best Buccaneer ever. I do believe he is now ahead of Brooks. (Don’t ask about Sapp. He’s maybe 9th or whatever, maybe not that far down).

  21. BUCkleup Says:

Jack Burton – bless you but look it up. Brooks is an 11 time pro bowler and 5 time All pro. Evans is a beast, but not there yet, nor even close on the All pro. Check the #s.

  22. Wild Bill Says:

I don’t care who catches Brady’s balls, especially not Gizzyele. But his dam receivers better hang on to everything that comes their way!!!

  23. BigMacAttack Says:

Use an extra lineman, pull the guard and run counter. Jeez Leftwich it isn’t rocket surgery. Holliday Inn Exorcist

  24. HC Grover Says:

otten blocks like plan 9 edge rushes

  25. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Buckleup…happy to disagree. I do not base my opinion on all pro designations handed out by journalists who never even played peewee. And i dont care about anyone who played anywhere else. My opinion is mine only who has been watching from the beginning.

And here it is…Ronde was a better corner than Brooks was a linebacker (thats how good RB was), and Evans is a better receiver than Brooks was an LB, but its close. My opinion. And Brooks was so so so good. And Lee Roy was better than all of them.

  26. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

That rookie that Atlanta has at CB (I forget his name) has been REALLY good the last few weeks and has been up against Evans like targets like Metcalf and shut them down… I think Mike is better than Metcalf at being physical and will show the rookie what’s up … But I wouldn’t be surprised to see them put that rookie up against Evans to begin the game and see how he does

  27. TampabayDJ82 Says:

@SorryJack – First of all that CB is not a rookie and Evans torched him last year for I believe 5 of his 14 TDs !! Evans is gonna have a monster day especially with the other guys back . Look for Jones to have a few big plays against the team that drafted him.. Go Bucs
