Cam Brate Back In Tampa

October 17th, 2022

Bucs TE Cam Brate.

Busy in Pittsburgh, Joe missed a fairly important update from the Bucs received shortly after the loss to the Steelers. Joe didn’t catch it until after 7 p.m.

Yesterday was an eerie scene when Bucs tight end Cam Brate was prone flat on the ground at the Agriculture Stadium in Pittsburgh. It seemed Brate had a neck injury, Bucs coach Todd Bowles said after the game, as he had his head stabilized and was wheeled off on a stretcher.

Brate was taken to a local Pittsburgh hospital for evaluation.

The optics were awful. Brate was down so long (roughly 10 minutes) that a flock of flying rats (pigeons) roosted on the field because the place grew so quiet.

(The birds later became squatters in the end zone as play continued, even with the ball only 15-20 yards away. WTVT-TV Channel 13 sports anchor Scott Smith told Joe the pigeons were more determined to get in the end zone than the Bucs.)

Joe got a text from the Bucs with a heads-up that despite being wheeled off the field with his head stabilized, Brate flew home on the team plane last night. That’s great news as it looked as if it could have been much worse.

Joe is confident Bowles will have something of an update later today, more than just the neck injury noted yesterday, when he has his day-after presser.

Get BA back on the field and SUH in a uniform

  2. sasquatch Says:

Sure hope he retires. No reason to risk his health any further. Concussion and neck injury within a couple of weeks is not good.

  3. Howard Cosell Says:

    @Parrish
No way Suh would play for this soft and lazy team.

    Great news about Brate.
Possibly a neck stinger while still sore from the concussion.
Maybe he’ll be ok and can return (if he wants to) after a
    thorough and appropriate rehab period

Thank God Cam Brate is well enough to travel. Bucs had one of the worst games in last 8 years (only watched nfl since then) the only game worse was on prime time against the saints and we scored like 3 points.
we need to stop assuming this team wins any game from here on out and we are not going to the playoffs so get that out of mind we are only going to plyoffs if we win more games so no business thinking that might happen. this team and coach leftwich suck I mean they are really bad really bad and really embarassing

Glad to hear Brate was released by local hospital.. a few wks on IR might be a good idea..hopefully he can finish the season without long term damage…

What a horrible scene. I hope brate returns to full health soon and doesn’t rush himself back to the field. If he decides to retire I would be fully for that. None of this is worth risking your future health. I love football but the more and more we learn about head injuries the more I don’t think the off chance at a few million is worth it.

  8. Kody Says:

    PLEASE RETIRE, BRATE!!!

    Good time to retire.

With that Stasche Cam should have a bright future in the Adult Film industry.

Wish him a speedy and complete recovery.

Great to hear it wasn’t as bad as it sounded! Absolutely love the end zone line about the pigeons. That is funny!

ok so this is some good news from the pittsburgh debacle

  12. Christos Says:

I just want to say that the team should put him in IR and not allow him to play again for this season at least. For his own well being.

  13. Hodad Says:

Cam Brate, new color guy for the Bucs radio. Time for Dave Moore to join his buddy Gene.

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

He has taken a beating in the NFL
Enough is enough, I hope he is talking to Marpet

  16. Mike Johnson Says:

brate is prety bright. He graduated from one of them Ivy league schools..I think. Maybe after this year, he will follow Marpet into retirement..that is if he’s smart. Those concussions are cumulative. Get well Cam.

  17. GoatWatcher Says:

    Time to sign the pigeons.

  18. Panhandle Buc Says:

Those pigeons showed a lot more heart and determination than the Bucs players…

The latest reports from WDAE say that he has no concussion. He has a neck injury. To me, that is good news, because I was worried about the concussion issue, too. As far as the neck, he was able to fly with the team, so it wasn’t serious. How it will affect his playing status, there is no word yet.
