Saints On The Brink

September 30th, 2022

The Andy Dalton era is approaching for New Orleans.

UPDATED: Jameis Winston officially has been ruled out.

Rest assured Joe will be up early Sunday watching the slimy Saints against the Vikings, live from England at 9:30 a.m.

Hopefully, the game marks the Saints falling off a cliff into NFL bottom-feeder status.

Fresh off a loss to the Panthers, a game Joe watched, the Saints were beaten up by Carolina. Quarterback Jameis Winston didn’t practice in London this week after what Saints head coach Dennis Allen said was an “accumulation of the wear and tear.”

The Panthers knocked stud Saints receivers Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry out of the game and Thomas will not play this week while Landry is questionable. Alvin Kamara, also questionable, had his ribs worked on during the game on the sidelines.

Andy Dalton is likely to start for the Saints against the Vikings. The three-time Pro Bowler was 3-3 with the Bears last season (a significant accomplishment), and Joe wonders if he’ll keep playing beyond this week if he sparks the floundering Saints offense.

A New Orleans loss would drop them to 1-3 with three consecutives losses and three in the NFC.

    Red rifle time. Blahhahhhahh.

  2. Bucsfan13 Says:

Don’t count out Andy! The Vikings made Goff look like Montana last week.

  3. D-Rome Says:

If Dalton starts and plays beyond this week that will slam the book shut on Jameis Winston ever being a quality NFL starter. He’ll be a backup for the rest of his career which isn’t a bad gig to have.

  4. Oneilbuc Says:

Lol 😂😆 here comes the false narrative about Jameis playing bad lol 😂😂 . Jamies had 4 broken bones in his back with a sprained ankle but that will never be mentioned. He ain’t practice none this week but go ahead start the narrative. Lol 😂😂

  5. SB Says:

But but but. JayMiss will still make the HOF right!?!?!

  6. SB Says:

In his first yr for the saints JW2 threw for a Whopping 858 yards and 4 TDs vs. 5 INTs.
Second yr he threw for a whopping 1170 yards that yr
This yr he has thrown for 75 yards and is on the bench.
Now THAT is the QB I wish we had.

  7. Redeemer Says:

Oneilbuc, availability is the best ability. I actually think Winston is a serviceable starting QB. He just can’t stay healthy. Kid has a rocket arm. If someone could teach him to get on the ground, and not turn it over, he could be a top 12-15 QB. Learning how not to lose shouldn’t take 7 years.

  8. Redeemer Says:

Bucsfan13, Dalton isn’t horrible. He’s just the definition of mediocrity. He’s terrible in big moments and big games. Bucs should win the division by three games.

  9. Oneilbuc Says:

Redeemer. That’s the thing I hated about Jameis and that’s going to be the reason why he’s not going to make it to me . If you are injured then just say it and sit . But when you still try to play like that you are going to hurt the team and people are going to blame you for the lost.

  10. sasquatch Says:

Andy Dalton is a more accomplished starter in the NFL than Jay-Miss.

  11. Oneilbuc Says:

SB . At the same time why you hoping Jameis don’t make it in the NFL he’s a millionaire and ain’t losing no sleep because of what you think about him . Jameis ain’t never talked bad about the bucs or the fan base like y’all do him . But in 3 or 4 months we will see what the bucs do about quarterback this team is set up for a rookie or Trask to develop and yes that is important to me having our own quarterback.

  12. Rod Munch Says:

Winston is terrible in the UK, so this is a blessing for them.

As for Winston, when/if he gets the job back, for his own sake he had better stop playing like he’s Teddy Bridgewater and start slinging the ball again. Not sure how much his broken back was affecting things, but he’s been really conservative and really hesitates before throwing it. I know the Saints want him to be a boring game manager, but getting a gunslinger for that role rarely turns out well.

But if Winston ended up being a FA at the end of this year and Brady retires, bringing him back here would be a perfect fit unless the Bucs want to go 3-14 under Trask — which maybe they do, maybe they’ll want to play for the #1 pick once Brady is legit retired.

  13. geno711 Says:

Boy, I think the Saints Reddit site dislikes Jameis more than the old Joe Bucs Fans posters.

My expectations are very low, but as long as he doesn’t throw 2-3 dumb interceptions every game and refuse to throw screen passes to our best player it’s an improvement over Winston.

The gap between Dalton and winston isn’t that big to be honest.

We might score more than 3 points before the 4th quarter this game.

Our offense has been dormant for 3 quarters every single game. Jameis has been missing throws and taking too long on his progressions.

That clip of Trautman is infuriating. After seeing that I noticed that Winston is really just a one-read QB. He was on Landry from the snap on that play. Watched the whole video again and you don’t see him progressing through the routes. To me this says he hasn’t matured since he’s been here as we’ve been told over and over by his teammates and coaches in the offseason press clippings.

It’s comical how consistent he is at throwing where the WR isn’t expecting it. That throw to Jarvis was difficult but cmon man, at least give him a shot. Also mikes making these crazy acrobatic catches, because Jameis is throwing it all over the place.

He went 7-7 on one of the drives. He made some really bad reads and bad decisions on other drives. This is who Winston has always been.

Dalton led the Bengals to the playoffs at least. Winston? Nothing.

  14. Rod Munch Says:

You don’t buy a Dodge Challenger Hellcat and put a limiter of 55mph on it. If you want to drive 55mph, go get you a Prius. Sure, the Hellcat will try to kill you at times, but it’s also quite the ride. Where as if you want to drive a Prius, well, you disgust me for being such a dullard.

    Savvy?

  15. A Says:

I went to Winston’s last London game – I think they are over him 🙂

    Go Bucs!

  16. A Says:

I had to keep explaining to the Brits around me that its bad to throw the ball to the other team.

  17. Oxycondoms Says:

Said it before the season when people were picking saints to finish first in division. Dont know what they were smoking thinking banking on winston said at the time wouldnt be surprised if panthers finished ahead of them

  18. Buc1987 Says:

Oneil still slobbering all over Jameis I see.

    Why?

    I have no damn clue.

  19. Listnfrmafar Says:

Dalton is better than Simeon so don’t count your chickens. Oneilsuckyall, I guess Brady should of sat with his MCL injury then and Bucs roll the dice on Gabbert to win the SB. Brady sat one season in 23 due to a torn ACL, Winsten can’t stay on the field. You must be really steaming Dalton you don’t get much more white than Dalton. Question Oneilsuckyall, why is you can come up with all the excuses in the book for Jamais poor play but when Brady throws a pick you call us out all the time if we give reason why?

  20. LVMYBUCS Says:

Screw the Saints I need the Bucs to get their S*** together so we can have home feild advantage.

  21. BillyBucco Says:

Either way: Red Rocket or Jay-Miss, this team is about to plummet.
Thomas is out again, so they double Olave.
Nobody in this Division wins more than 8 games but the Bucs.

CMC is always hurt. Their defense is good as always but we match up well against Mayfield as does most of the NFL.

The Falcons have a TE and a RB. That’s about it. Defense is better.

How do we not make the playoffs?

  22. BillyBucco Says:

We played so hard against the Saints we lost to the Packers.
You don’t think the league knew that?

In the end, the Packers game will be more important.

  23. Oneilbuc Says:

Listnfrmafart I don’t make excuses for no player if Brady was playing with 4 broken bones in his back and a ankle sprain I will say the same thing for him . Again It looks like I’m the only one who believes Brady played good last week . But y’all panic like he played bad and it’s because he didn’t throw for 350 yards with 4 touchdowns . To me I don’t see the problem on how we winning but apparently yall don’t like the way we are winning because most of yall are fantasy football people . I’m just tired of hearing it’s the team fault when we lose but when we win it’s all Brady. If you notice my main defens have been given the team credit not just Brady. I’ve been saying this the past 2 years. But y’all call it hate for Brady.

  24. patrickbucs Says:

Great grammar, O’Neil Buc. Winston sucks, the majority of the Saints fans want him sat. If you play, you can not give an excuse excuse because of injuries. Sure seemed to be able to throw it 60 yards regularly over everyone’s heads. Was he always hurt as a Buc? No, so he’s fine. He will most likely be cut or have to rework a deal and lower is joke of a starting QB salary this offseason and look for new work as a backup. Maybe Seattle.

  25. Buc1987 Says:

    Oneilbuc Says:

“Jameis ain’t never talked bad about the bucs or the fan base like y’all do him”

Slobber, slobber nothing worse than a supposed Buc fan still slobbering all over Jameis Winston and wishing him well……YUCK!

  26. SlyPirate Says:

It’s not common, in the Licht era, that a Buc leaves to go onto NFL success.

  27. Oneilbuc Says:

1987 . Then let me suck as a fan when it comes to the man himself and wishing him nothing but the best in his life. I really believe now that a lot of the hate is because he’s a black man and I don’t care how you feel about that either. I feel the same way about Brady and his wife and family I would rather for him to keep his marriage than play football regardless of the team.

  28. Oneilbuc Says:

Patrick you just hate the guy so even though it’s been proven that he’s playing injured don’t matter to you. Even the guys calling the game was saying the same thing so shut up 🤣😂 you driven by hate. You probably haten on Jamies because he’s a black millionaire. I don’t wish no one fail at what they do regardless of the player .

  29. Kentucky Buc Says:

Most of the league is black. That’s the dumbest sh** you’ve come up with yet.

  30. Bowles4President Says:

I would rather the Saints have Winston than Dalton. Dalton is more likely to win three games in a row. Winston is guaranteed to have highs and lows, which won’t get you deep in the playoffs.

  31. Irishmist Says:

    We done broke Jameis again.

  32. Defense Rules Says:

Everyone’s making it about the Saints & Jameis, but the NFC South team the Bucs should be most concerned about is Carolina IMO. They’ve lost 2 very close games (to the Browns by 2 pts & to the Giants by 3 pts) and both of those opponents now have winning records and are playing some good football.

And what should be most concerning to the Bucs is that the Panthers defense has been beating the snot out of opposing offenses. New Orleans, known for having a tough defense themselves, took a beating in their loss to Carolina. Bucs can’t afford to take that same kind of beating when we play them after the Chiefs, Falcons & Steelers.

  33. bucsince79 aka bumanner Says:

All those snapper heads on tv calling for the Aints to be NFC S Champs… They suck ass!!! Nasty team I have 0 love for those bums…

  34. TJ Says:

Our Super Bowl season, the defense cost us many games in the first half of the year. The offense carried us. Then the D caught fire, gelled as a unit, then played lights out and we took home the Lombardi as a complete team. I recall a TON of issues we had to overcome as a team that year. It’s a long season, winning the division, and keeping Brady healthy and protected is our priority. I’ll be more concerned if it is the Thanksgiving timeframe or December and we still have fundamental errors like we did last year. So let the Saints continue to implode. Obviously they have NO identity without Sean P. so we should cakewalk to the division in spite of our own issues.

  35. TJ Says:

Jameis Winston = Vinny Testaverde. Can Winston rebound like Vinny T did late in his career….

  36. Listnfrmafar Says:

Oneilsuckyall, you NEVER praised Brady for anything. Now your using the Jamais dismay is because he’s a black man? 2/3 of the team are black men, I don’t hear anyone trashing Evan’s, LVD, Shaq etc. aren’t they black men? Brady doesn’t get credit for the wins, yes his play is acknowledged same as when he loses. Read some of Joe’s posts, not all are positive. He does get credit for turning the franchise around because he did. I think I heard today he donated $1MM for flood victims and called out other NFL players for their support. Don’t hold your breath for Winstens check.

  37. Trask To The Future Says:

    ONEILBUC,

If you’re healthy enough to take the field you don’t get to use injuries as an excuse.

It’s always about the excuses with Jameis…

    – But… but… but… LASIK! Just wait until he gets his vision fixed.

    – But he doesn’t have good WRs… wait until Thomas comes back!

    – BUT… BUT… BUT…

    Maybe… just maybe… Jameis isn’t a good NFL QB.

  38. Mike Johnson Says:

I really do like Red. But he’s seen his best days in a Bengal’s uniform. He’s just about shot.

  39. Oneilbuc Says:

Kentuckybuc and yeah how many black coaches, Gm and owners do they have in the NFL?? Lol 😂😂😂 you the stupid one!!

  40. firethecannons Says:

I do not believe Jameis has what it takes to lead the Saints to a superbowl I enjoyed the the last Bucs vs Saints–it was awesome and then they lost to panthers I love watching the Saints lose. It is even more entertaining with Winston as the quarterback–what the fck were they thinking–Peyton thought he cold fix jameis and use against us. now they are stuck with him.

  41. Goatfarmer Says:

Osqueelerbutt – you really did get dropped violently on your head as a child didn’t you.

  42. Goatfarmer Says:

Meanwhile, GO VIKINGS! Pound the Aints. Get yer run game going. Cousins is a more successful version of JaMiss, he’s a pick 6 waiting to happen.

  43. David Says:

I wish Jameis Winston well. I don’t want see him hurt. I don’t want to see him succeed with the Saints either.
The last couple of weeks have shown that when he is stressed and under pressure he will still turn the ball over with the best of them, actually better than all of them.

As for Dalton, that’s a pretty good backup to have. He’s better than some of the starters out there

  44. Oneilbuc Says:

😂😂😂 a weak fan base on this site a bunch of Patriots fans lol 🤣🤣🤣 Nex year most of yall will be gone.

  45. adam from ny Says:

nah, they’re not ready to throw in the towel on jaboo yet…

more shall come to fruition around week 6

  46. Bucsfanman Says:

If nothing else, you can count on Oneilbuc to fill a blog when it comes to his favorite player.

Maybe Jay-Miss has some compromising pics of him or something?! It’s sad, really sad.

  47. Tbbucs3 Says:

The funny thing is…is that the same ones who accuse others of slobbering over Jameis are the same ones slobbering over Trask in preseason

  48. Oneilbuc Says:

Bucsfanman I love to make y’all mad 😡😡 I don’t lose 1 second of sleep either way lol 😂😂😂. My favorite football player is my son so yes I love to make y’all mad especially when it comes to Brady I control your emotions 🤣😜. I love to make you fake fans mad !!! Yes!!!!!!

  49. Kentucky Buc Says:

Blokneel can’t wait until the Bucs suck again so he can use his superior intellect to tell u why they suck. He can’t come to grips with the fact that this is pro football in the age of free agency.

  50. Howard Cosell Says:

Winston is who we thought he was!

Playing in his comfort zone like a gunslinger he’s an 8-8 QB because of all the terrible ints.
When he tries to play conservative ball control he just sucks for some reason. Conservative is very foreign to him apparently and he’s not good at it.

  51. Howard Cosell Says:

ME13 made Winstons and Johnny footballs careers because they could throw desperation throws off their back foot and he would always come down with it.

That’s why when you combine ME13 with a surgeon like Brady it’s beautiful to watch

  52. Howard Cosell Says:

Howard apologizes for forgetting his 3rd person lately

  53. Oneilbuc Says:

Kentuckybuc I’ve probably been to more bucs games than you and again you believe once Brady leaves the bucs will be a bad team. I don’t think so our defense is good and I think they will be good next year. The defense is carrying the team just like they did in 2020 . Brady had a good game last week but just because he didn’t have 300 yards and 4 touchdowns y’all mad about the bucs winning that way lol 🤣🤣. That’s why I call y’all fake fans the only player yall care about is Brady getting a bunch of yards and touchdowns . And that’s why I can’t wait until he’s gone because I know you will be gone as well.

  54. Lamarcus Says:

It’s kinda hard to feel sorry for them when our offense looks like trash so far

I get the landscape of the NFL and all but Brady needing all his weapons to look even average is concerning

  55. Trask To The Future Says:

Oneilbuc, the D carried us in 2020? LOL. The D was terrible many games. They played well on the post season when most of our opponents (GB and KC) and major O-Line injuries.

  56. Mike C Says:

Wow oneilbuc, smh you can get out of here with the Brady Boston fan bs, I have been a season ticket holder since the old Sombrero and I will be here next year and your boy sucks you are wrong stupid and stubborn, enjoy your life of delusions.

  57. Kentucky Buc Says:

Hate to break it to you Blokneel but I’ve lived in St Cloud for half my life. Once again you think you know but you don’t know. I attend at least 3 games a year.

  58. August 1976 Buc Says:

The Bucs offense averaged 31+ in 2020, no the defense was living off the offense,
Even in the dominant effort by the Defense in the Super Bowl, the offense scored 31, should have had at least 40+ in that game too.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  59. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I did not want Jameis to be our pick that year…and I do think Mariota would have done better if he had been drafted by Tampa. Gruden ruins young QBs…always has.

That said, Jameis showed enough after drafted for me to support him. But in the end, the turnovers did him in.

    It is no different now.

Sad thing is, we have no one good to replace Brady when he leaves…again. Bucs will likely have to tank and gamble.

  60. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Oneilbuc Says
    “I love to make y’all mad…”

LOL..doesn’t even phase me. In defense of the others, though, I would say calling them fake fans might be a little out of line. Whether Bucs fans or Brady fans, they are still fans.

  61. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I would add…lots of Bucs fans have never been to a Bucs game. It just is not affordable to many. That’s why the stadiums do not sit enough to hold all fans.

  62. Aaron Says:

Better be worried bout old Shady brady and his young lineman don’t know why y’all pay Julius he just plays when he wants thats the game he knows it’s a forsure game he’s a scared one too it’s football baby play or don’t get paid

  63. Goatfarmer Says:

    Who’s a brain dead idjut?

Osqueeleryall is a brain dead idjut.
