Relive Tom Brady Being Named Top NFL Player

September 5th, 2022

The best.

It really blows Joe’s mind that a Bucs quarterback was named top player in the NFL by his peers.

Joe throws back to 2014 (more like throws up) and the beginning of the dreadful lousy Lovie Smith era. Mike Glennon was the starting quarterback playing for an injured Stewart McClown. The game was 10-3 in the third quarter with Minnesota leading in Tampa.

It was one of the worst NFL games Joe had ever seen. It was the lowest point in Joe’s 14+ years running this here website. Joe literally had to get up in the press box and take a break — that’s never happened before or since in Joe’s career.

Joe had reached a breaking point and began debating life’s choices at that moment. Joe started thinking covering such a horrible team with a horrible coach with such a boring roster and coaching staff was a bad idea.

It was later that afternoon that the “Chase for Jameis” was hatched.

Eight years later, the Bucs have the best player in the NFL. At quarterback. Unreal!

Last week, NFL Network ended its “Top 100 Players” feature, voted on by NFL players, and named Tom Brady as the best player in the league. It triggered to Joe to think back to that ugly October day in 2014, and Joe marveled at how far the Bucs have come in eight years.

The Bucs went from fully unwatchable (unless you were being paid to watch them) to the darlings of TV networks, with suits fighting for the chance to televise their games countries abroad opening their arms to host a Bucs game.

A main reason for that is Brady. Below, you can enjoy the full segment on Brady broadcast last week naming him top player in the league.

GREAT re-watching that video. They caught a few of his lovely “perfect passes”. Just beautiful.

That vid is the bomb. Says it all.

But instead, some geniuses say, we should be developing a young QB versus winning with Tom. Put Trask our there and go 3-14. Of course then we might be able to draft Anthony Richardson , so there is that zircon embedded in the turd.

Osqueel — go to the Saints forums and enjoy yourself.

    @Joe,

No way. To me one of our worst losses we’ve had was that loss to NYG in September of ‘09. When (unfortunately) Leftwich was QB and Raheem was HC (I actually like Raheem a lot and will never forget what he did w/basically nothing and a “youngry” team in the “race to 10”).

We were coming off, not only losing our last 4 games the year before and crumbled our Playoff Dreams, but a 3 game losing streak to start the season. We lost 24-0. The Giants had given up 250 yards rushing the previous game and we couldn’t even get a first down – running or passing – until very late in the 3rd quarter. We were out gained in yardage 397-86

That was our worst game of the Bucs 21st century I believe. I remember watching it and feeling more embarrassed than I ever have. It was putrid. It was plenty of other bad adjectives that I won’t harp on too!

So here we have The Goat on the Bucs. Not only is he The Goat, he is in peak form. Rated number1 by his peers.

Don’t understand why Bucs management has their head in the sand and are not getting to seasoned offensive lineman in house right now . Complete lack of understanding of the thin line between a quarterback having the time to make his reads and being sacked

  11. Listnfrmafar Says:

George, I agree to keep this offense flowing they are going to have to protect Brady. Giselle saw Jensen go down and said hold on Tommy, we spent all that money on plastic surgery and Licht is.going to let Jordan and Donald mess it up? Not on my watch. Oneilsuckyall, SB-LV, oralbuc read this article and weep, the facts are the facts. His PEERS have spoken!!!

  12. PSL Bob Says:

Well, that clip got me fired up. We’re so lucky to be able to watch this guy play on a regular basis. The respect he gets from other players around the league is awesome. Just one more week to go to see him in action once again!!!! Can’t wait.

And today Jason Licht signed and traded for Offensive Line talent!

    Oh, wait…….
