“Rachaad Done Zero Things Wrong In That Ballgame”

September 15th, 2022

Bucs rookie running back Rachaad White.

It’s rare for a rookie to get an “A” grade in his first game.

But it seems rookie third-round pick Rachaad White got there on Sunday night. The running back played 17 snaps and caught two balls for seven yards and rushed six times for 14 yards. He also was called upon to pass block, and today offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich expressed his appreciation for White’s work and implied he was perfect.

“Rachaad done zero things wrong in that ballgame,” Leftwich said with authority.

Sure, White could have put more stats on the board, but it’s always fantastic when a rookie gets the job done and proves he’s reliable.

With Leonard Fournette tweaking a hamstring in the fourth quarter on Sunday, the Bucs may need White a lot more in a hurry.

It will certainly be interesting to see who gets the load of the snaps.

  2. robert Says:

I liked what I saw from Rachaad in pre-season. Would LOVE to see him get a shot at starting, not that I want Lenny to miss time…….but I would like to see what this guys brings when given a great opportunity.

    @joe

what up with CNN saying TB and wife are living seperately?

  3. Maniac Buc Says:

Lenny is fine. White may be sprinkled in more than he was game 1, but Lenny will still get the bulk of the work!

  4. Redeemer Says:

    Hope Lenny can go.

  5. sasquatch Says:

Wish Lefty could speak decent English.

  6. Buczilla Says:

Maybe Licht has figured out how to draft good running backs? He’s already a great gm, so this would be almost unfair.

  7. Derek Says:

    He done did good

  8. Goatfarmer Says:

Let’s see if he can catch a punt instead of watching it bounce another 15 yards.

  9. Buc4evr Says:

I think Vaughn is still a better pound the rock RB then White at this point. Hope he is activated this week.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

“He be a good running back for us”

Another literary gem from Leftwich……prepping for his head coach job.

  11. robert ethan Says:

He done 0 things right, as well. May as well not have bothered putting on pads,

  12. Marine Buc Says:

That first run was sketchy and looked pretty bad. He danced to the left then to the right then back to the left then hit the deck… He should have bounced it around to the left as there was a lane that appeared.

He also missed Parsons on a chip block as he ran his flat route…

Other than that he looked fine.

  13. alton d green Says:

sometimes espn commentators make me cackle like Caramel Harris. About 2 out of 3 are picking the Saints. BUT espn power index has the Bucs a 70% chance of winning?????????? sure am glad the border is secure ain’t y’all???

  14. CleanHouse Says:

I think ROJO is better than both White and Vaughn
    Wish we had him

  15. Marine Buc Says:

    @ CleanHouse

I really wanted ROJO to work out but he was constantly in the “dog house” for dropping easy passes, fumbling and missing blocks in pass protection. Running off tackle in a straight line and constantly being tackled by the first contact made him a very limited member of the offense.

If you can’t catch, fumble, get the QB killed and can’t break a tackle – what else is there?

  16. Tim Says:

“Rachaad done zero things wrong in that ballgame”. Dude, you’re a coach. Some even say you’re ready to be a head coach. Then I read a quote, and I can’t help but think you need a few more years.

  17. unbelievable Says:

If Lenny has a real hammy issue, he’s going to miss a few weeks at least.

Was it when the defender kinda fell on to his leg / calf from behind? I think that’s the same way he injured it last year too. Noticed a few guys trying to tackle Lenny that same way in the game…

  18. Todd Says:

Lenny is running possessed. Looked like “Hall of Fame Lenny” to me.

By the end of the game the DB’s were like, “Here he comes. Shart, meet pants!”

    Get well soon, Lenny.

  19. Bucsfan13 Says:

White has been largely unimpressive. Steve was right when he said on the last podcast that this guy is getting way too much for so little production. His running style is he likes to wait for blocks to set up. That doesn’t always work in the NFL. You need to hit the hole. He’s vision sucks. Why not play Gio? Gio has been a good runner and can catch passes. Brady trusts him, but it looks like they’re going with the young kid as the third down back. Gio’s been productive against the Saints. Let Gio cook!!

  20. Mike C Says:

Tisk Tisk Tim, you are not allowed to shame people for ignorance. Well certain people.

  21. Goatfarmer Says:

I’m with 13. White is still all potential and no production, like a certain “punt returner who wants to be a WR” that neither catches punts he should, nor returns them very far when he does. Nor gains yardage on a reverse, nor gets open, nor catches the ball very well when he does, nor blocks. But he looks good in practice, though.

    Give me Sneak and Gio.

  22. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Can the kid play more than one game before you dudes right him off?? Rojo was a health scratch for KC – tells me he doesn’t know the playbook. Go figure. But you guys know best right? Right.

  23. JimmyJack Says:

Rachaaaaaaaard did enough to earn more looks. Thats good enough for me from a rookie in his 1st game.

I think hes capable of breaking off a big one and if not, no biggy, we got Keyshaun Vaughn and we already know hes capable of breaking one.

  24. Stanglassman Says:

Ignorance is not know the difference between intelligence and vernacular.

Vernacular describes everyday language, including slang, that’s used by the people. The vernacular is different from literary or official language: it’s the way people really talk with each other, like how families talk at home.

  25. Darin Says:

As soon as I saw the quote I knew who said it. Byron be who he be foo

  26. Mike C Says:

Stanglassman, if he was at home or on a web site, fine. He is a professional! Don’t defend that quote, no one should.

  27. OBVIOUS Says:

I don’t mean to be classless but I can’t help it in this case. I just CAN’T get over the way that Leftwich speaks. I just can’t do it. Somewhere I know it’s not true but the guy sounds like a complete idiot. It’s almost like he has to practice in a mirror to sound as unedumacated as he does. If this is TRULY how he speaks each and every day then I’m going to lean into “classless” and proclaim that he must be a true dumb arse. A MORON. You know I think the guy practices this type of speak. I think it has A LOT to do with fear. I believe he either lives in fear or lived in fear for So Long that it’s a defense mechanism. I really do.
I believe He’s trying his BEST to sound like a thug. Straight up. Look, I’ve worked in the hood Leftwich and to tell you the truth, it’s rare to find people who Actually talk like you do. The ONLY TIME you hear someone speaking in your terms or with your flexion is when an issue is is on the table. Dude, you’re 24/7…
That’s one thing. The other is your SERIOUS lack of grammar skills. And one more thing, Get the POOP out of your mouth when you speak. It must be hard to actually pick up what you’re putting down. Seriously, I believe that you a d the team would have a heck of a lot more success if you could find a way to speak that everybody else could actually understand. IT IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING…. GET IT?
On another note, DEVIN WHITE used to speak with your type of flexion and he was hard to understand. He also caught the wrap of not being very bright because of it. NOT ANY MORE! I guess he’s just not scared anymore and now he speaks in relatable and easy to understand kind of way.
JUST SAYIN. I got your account either way my man since you are the offensive “brain trust” for my Very Favorite Team. And I guess I should be grateful because if you started to sound like you knew what you were talking about, well you just might be a head coach elsewhere.

    GO BUCS!

  28. ClwJB Says:

Big difference in first step speed with white and Vaughn – Lenny gathers steam and rolls – these guys both are one cut slashers

Need to adjust the power O to more zone type reads and all will be fine

  29. CrackWise Says:

I will say this, Lefty put together an awesome interview a week or two back that @Joe posted. He did not make as many literary mistakes if ANY?

The guy is sharp. I just think he has a distain for the media like alot of us do these days. So, he is like WTFE when it comes to talking to them.

UNFORTUNATLY, it does not play well, and the media focuses too much on the DUMB stuff he says.

But for real, he does excellent when you listen to him in a candid situation. This coming from someone who IS NOT a Lefty fan. BUT he is starting to win me over.

  30. TampaballAllDay Says:

You guys are focus on how he talks but how is he at his job? Y’all are different

  31. MadMax Says:

Im gon get mines in…its ghetto speak…it a style MANE! Lol…

Im ok with it till it comes to a hot girl half my age flirting with me…smoking body, pretty face, but then she starts talking and it freaking ruins it for me…I cant get over it….I just cant…. no amount of alcohol HAHA

  32. Redeemer Says:

When owners interview people for head coaching jobs, how you speak does matter. You instantly become the chief spokesman for the entire organization. It could be that both Todd and BL were turned down because they can be very inarticulate. Speak in generalities, platitudes and banalities. It’s really not very hard. Brady isn’t the most eloquent speaker, but he keeps it simple, short and to the point. These guys all hate the media, because they pretend to be friendly and will cut your throat at the first sign of trouble. Mike Tomlin has mastered the art of giving them just enough.

  33. Redeemer Says:

MadMax, yes!! Nothing worse than a hottie who speaks like English is their third language. We call them one hitters here. Best example ever is the chick from the movie Ted.

  34. TampaballAllDay Says:

I didn’t realize you knew a owner sorry redeemer

  35. gotbbucs Says:

They’re trying way too hard to push White into the forefront. Its the same thing that happened when they drafted the Muscle Hamster and shoved him down our throught instead of letting Blount carry the load.
Vaughn’s touches would be more productive in my opinion right now. White will get there, but his stutter step style is probably going to get him smashed in the backfield right now. Those holes that stay open for a full second in college are there and gone in a fraction of a second in the NFL.
If Fournette truly does have a hamstring right now, Vaughn needs to be active instead of Bernard.

  36. Infomeplease Says:

I hope LF is 80 to 90:% good to go!! If not RW and the rest of the RB room will have to perform well for the Bucs to win on Sunday! The defense will have to play like last week too!! Can’t wait for Sunday!!

  37. Hunter's Crack Pipe Says:

    Stanglassman Says:
“Vernacular… like how families talk at home.”

Not at my dinner table, if I wanted dessert. And not in professional settings. But you do you if you don’t mind sounding ignorant on TV.
