Tom Brady Will Survive

August 3rd, 2022

Tom Brady fangirl.

Joe understands Bucs fans have been lining up at the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in an effort to deal with their grief over the loss of center Ryan Jensen.

Well, NFL Network stats and data chick Cynthia Frelund has comforting words (and numbers) for fans struggling to cope.

Tom Brady, Frelund insists, will lead the NFL in passing touchdowns this fall with 40. And yeah, that’s without Jensen.

I can make a strong case for NFC quarterbacks with prolific projections being good preseason MVP choices. There are a ton of excellent QBs in the AFC, so it’ll be quite hard to stand out over there. Not to mention, Brady finished second in MVP voting last season. Brady’s O-line health will matter here — his 2.2 sack rate last season was the third-lowest for a QB in any season since 2016, per NGS — so the Ryan Jensen injury definitely hurts the veteran QB, who’s turning 45 this week. If Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Julio Jones and Russell Gage can all get healthy at the same time, Tampa will have the highest win-share value at a position group in my models in at least five seasons.

Well, what Brady does and has done throughout his long career defies logic much less description. But 40 touchdown passes at age 45? Dang. However, Brady threw 43 TDs last season. plus 40 in 2020 with one less game. So Frelund is actually projecting a dropoff for Brady.

Regardless, if Brady 40 touchdowns, the Bucs will be just fine once January rolls around. And Joe supposes Robert Hainsey will be doing OK as well.

All this Miami bs & folks trying to paint Brady as a dishonest, unloyal turncoat, etc. will do three things:

    MVP
    #8
    Peace Out Tampa

I hope the fans & local media simmer a bit on their outrage or TB12 really will leave–I’d rather see TB12 stay.

    Suh.

Get the ball out quickly, as always.

  4. LOL Says:

I don’t think anyone in their right mind wouldn’t entertain a billionaire trying to give them ownership in their MULTI BILLION DOLLAR team.

To think Brady owes something to the Bucs or should sacrifice opportunities that are best for him and his family are ridiculous and asinine. Those people are either liars, hypocrites or bat S&$*t crazy.

It isn’t a marriage between the Bucs and Tom. Its a contractual obligation and that’s it.

  6. SufferingSince76 Says:

Brady and the entire team are professionals. They understand the business. All this junior high school outrage is over the top.

  7. Kody Says:

Can Tom Brady survive getting sacked 5 times by the Rams? Can our OL prevent that? These are now the questions that keep me up at night. Iā€™d feel a lot better with Tretter signed. No knock on Hainsey, but heā€™s still a pup. Letā€™s be honest.

  8. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

As you label this as “junior high school outrage” consider this…..as your steady girlfriend was committed to you during the last year, she was secretly negotiating to be with a richer boyfriend next year.

  9. SB~LV Says:

    ^^^^ what he said ^^^^

  10. SB~LV Says:

Brady had an open marriage with the Bucs, except the Bucs didnā€™t know it !

  11. LOL Says:

So you all you crybabies have a crush on Tom then is what i’m hearing??

People in high demand have tons of others making advances on them regularly. You must not have much life experience if you think its not constantly happening.

Brady signed a $375 Mil deal to be a TV host when hes done with football. he will make more money doing that than being a QB… Where is all the outrage at that?

  12. Dooley Says:

LMAO man, some of you guys got imaginations that run wilder than Hulkamania

  13. SB~LV Says:

    LOL
Your kind of critical thinking is why the jury system scares the HELL out of me!

  14. AbucAway Says:

If it’s true, as someone else on this forum pointed out, that Tom extended his contract to three years to help with cap space, and if he wanted to leave this year but the organization wouldn’t let him out of the contract then it is the organization screwing him around, not the other way.

And I’m sure that is a runonsentence

  15. rekcut Says:

She came around on Brady. She always wasnt this nice about Brady.

  16. LOL Says:

Go hit the pipe again and chill dude LOL

  17. MadMax Says:

whats this I hear? a very intelligent man, the GOAT at his profession, keeping his options open (mostly to himself and those he trusts) which is what any smart person will always do in a business situation….and now some feel like a jaded ex-gf? Is that what Im hearing and reading?

    LMAO! WOW!

  18. Steven007 Says:

LOL, a marriage and a contractual obligation are pretty much the same thing! But point well taken.

  19. Beeej Says:

Nothing wrong with Brady seeking employment elsewhere, or even sending out feelers. I haven’t left a job without already having a new one in many decades.

  20. geno711 Says:

    I agree with Cynthia.

Brady will lead the NFC in TD passes.

Good for him trying to become an owner of an NFL team.

Good for us that he is our current QB.

  21. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Beeej, in MOST employee/employer relationships, if the employee is secretly negotiating to work for a competitor DURING the most important stretch of employment…..you get it. It’s not good.

  22. Craig Says:

I also think Brady’s production will drop a little this season. A young center will have a much better chance of misjudging the defensive formation and the implications of it.

Brady will still have a low sack count, but more balls will be thrown away.

  23. Buc1987 Says:

Morgus…as has been suggested by Patriots fan GOB Brady still put up BIG numbers and almost went to another SB with the Bucs.

  24. SB~LV Says:

Big passing numbers are really not big anymore
They are just the way of the NFL these days.

  25. Buc1987 Says:

SB~LV…if all of the Miami bs was a distraction the numbers wouldn’t even be there and they get bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs imo.

  26. adam from ny Says:

tom is probably waking up at night in some cold sweats like he’s in a nightmare…

because the entire interior of the o-line is gone…

and to top it off gronk his best blocking tight end is also gone…

that’s a hell of a lot to lose in one shot in one season…

so tommy b will just have to be quick draw mcagraw and his receivers will have to be johnny on the spot…

    it should be ok…

losing jensen now is better than losing him in say, week 1 or 2…

  27. SeƱor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

This is NOT about “…your steady girlfriend … was secretly negotiating to be with a richer boyfriend next year…”

this is about You are the best at your job and another company wants to hire you. So don’t you owe it to your family to do what is in their best interest?

How many of you would NOT even talk to another employer who is offering you a LOT more money to come work for them? Stupid azz takes in here at times. Ppl just LOVE TO HATE

  28. SufferingSince76 Says:

Morgus, My sympathies that you have that much invested in Brady. Weird comparison.

  29. Listnfrmafar Says:

Relax you luck Buckaroo fans. What inspires Brady more than controversy? Look for another SB win.

  30. Coran Says:

Morgue with the GF comparison again? Well again, itā€™s very telling that youā€™re comparing a romantic relationship with a business arrangement where the primary goal is to make money (fans get lucky that Tom cares about winning). These people you ā€œdateā€, do they lower their price to help you out? So you can bring in other people to ā€œdateā€? Do they make you and where you live finally look cool to others? Cuz Tom did that. In your ā€œdatingā€ experience, do they make you pay more when they bring their ā€œfriendsā€? Cuz bucs got gronk, ab, fournette, Jones etc for nothing but salary and a low pick. Very team friendly. Surely your ā€œdatesā€ charge more for having to give you a trophy to make you feel good about yourself at the end of the night. Tom didnā€™t… he got you that at no extra charge.

Stop comparing this to a romantic relationship. Itā€™s super weird.

  31. Eddie Marz Says:

SB LVI hear you loud and clear! šŸ‘šŸ˜‚

  32. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Ah, Coran….so, do you have any employees, in the MOST ULTIMATE position in your company? And you’re FINE with that most important person….RIGHT in the middle of your most important part of the business year…..negotiating with your competitor for a more lucrative position?? Uhhhh, obviously not. Does that comparison satisfy you? It’s real.

  33. MadMax Says:

^ So do a better job at keeping him happy, which is what we did….get over yourself lol

  34. Maniac Buc Says:

@Morgus, absolutely nothing wrong with that. Heā€™s an obligation to himself first, and if the deal is that good, I as the owner of the company he currently work for would say take it, cause I would if I was in your shoes.

  35. FrankieD Says:

    Morgus the Magnificent
    SB~LV

Seems like some people think TB is their girlfriend… hahaha… You… gotta… be… kidding… me!!! How pretty do you think you are?

  36. Bucswin Says:

But seriously. Have you seen his swimwear ad?

  37. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Maniac….the NFL absolutely saw something wrong with that, to the tune of $1.5mm, a suspension, a 1st and 3rd round pick. And I am CERTAIN the Glazers weren’t exactly thrilled to learn of this courtship.
