Pair Of Rookies Shining In Final Rehearsal

August 27th, 2022

Happy with rookies.

Boy, it seems like Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht nailed a couple of draft picks this spring the way they are playing tonight, and in the past.

Tight end Cade Otton continues to shine. He caught a pass from Blaine Gabbert down the seam for a big gain. And he had a key block to spring Sneak Vaughn for a big gain as well.

Rachaad White? What is there to say? He’s the Bucs’ No. 2 back and he does it all, pass pro, run and catch.

At halftime of tonight’s game with the Colts in Indianapolis, Bucs coach Todd Bowles told WFLA-TV Channel 8 sports anchor Dan Lucas that those two continue to make plays and the more plays they make, the more snaps they will get.

Joe still maintains that Otton will be the Bucs’ starting tight end at some point this year.

We know that White will be a big part of the offense.

Need to get some balance with Vaughn at number two.

  2. Buc4evr Says:

Vaughn looked like the number two back tonight.

  3. Danbucsfan Says:

Deep at rb…deep at wr.. good problems to have, actually I like has been deep as well considering all the injuries. COWBOYS HERE WE COME!

  4. Maniac Buc Says:

I think Otten should be TE1 from day 1

  5. BUCman Says:

Over hype for White! Vaughn has outplayed him two weeks in a row now.

  6. gotbbucs Says:

Man, the bar must be really low for what it means to “shine”. I’m not sure I’ve seen anything out of White in the last two games that make me think he has the #2 job locked up. 6 carries tonight for 9 yards, the longest run being those 9 yards.
Vaughn is the more explosive player of the two.

  7. George Says:

Need Offensive Lineman. Otherwise these young skills players won’t get a chance to shine

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

BL called a perfectly awful game tonight……..

I don’t know how White can run at all with the entire world knowing that’s exactly what he’s going to do.

  9. PassingThru Says:

I’m tired of those first down runs called by Leftwich.

Why can’t he also call second down runs?

  10. Rod Munch Says:

PassingThru – Well Leftwich did do one glorious series where he ran up the middle 3 times in a row for -4 yards. Believe me, when he gets the chance to be a head coach, and doesn’t have Arians and Brady yelling at him to throw the ball, he’ll run on all three downs from the wishbone, then, finally, we’ll see what Leftwich can really do!

  11. kgh4life Says:

Bucs ran the ball well tonight, good to see. They can’t rely on Brady throwing 40+ times a game with this oline.

  12. DoooshLaRue Says:

I thought Laird showed some skills and toughness. Hopefully he at least winds up on the PS.

  13. JimmyJack Says:

Passing Through. Check out the 1st drive. Leftwitch came right out no huddle. New look at we moved the ball right down the field. I wont mind more of that.

  14. Canabuc Says:

Ko looked very good as a blocking tight end.
I also thought Fatukasi also looked good, better than Britt and Stuart.

  15. Netwalker Says:

Vaughn is definitely playing well. Easily his best season so far. Some have complained about all the runs up the middle. I disagree. The O line needs reps. Preseason is the time to get them. Bucs are deep at RB. If the O line can jell the RB’s will be a force the defense has to reckon with. That will open things up for all these great receivers.

  16. LongSeason Says:

Andre Anthony made some nice plays. Looks like a solid backup as a 7th Rd pick.
Fatukasi looks like another solid backup as an undrafted rook.
Can we get some O-Line luck? Man. Someone is throwing grenades at our O-Line. Eek!
Hope Hainsey’s ankle isn’t too bad.

  17. Keith Henig Says:

If there is no depth at OLine, these players won’t do much.

  18. Defense Rules Says:

Canabuc … ‘I also thought Fatukasi also looked good, better than Britt and Stuart.’

Same here. OLine DEPTH is certainly concerning, but so is ILB DEPTH right now. We’ve got 2 awesome starters in LVD & White, but as we saw last year, you still need DEPTH. Minter gave us that last year; not seeing the same quality this season. Thus far though, Fatukasi doesn’t look like starter-quality yet, but he looks better than any of the alternatives to me.

  19. Letsbucinggo Says:

White shined 6 carries for 9 yards 1 rec for 3 yards please Vaughn has looked a lot better. Looks like the Bucs do everything possible to keep Vaughn and Trask from succeeding. Lets trade Vaughn and Trask for O-lineman if they are going to ride the bench forever
