Lost Decade Bucs fans will remember the instant chemistry Cameron Brate had with Jameis Winston. It stood out in training camp and ran into the regular season.
After not playing as a 2014 rookie and getting cut and landing on the Saints practice squad, Brate returned and found 30 targets in 2015 — and caught 23 for 288 yards and three touchdowns. A year later he was in the Pro Bowl conversations with 8 TDs and 57 catches as the Bucs marched to a 9-7 record.
That quick chemistry is back to the practice field again in the form of Tom Brady and newcomer receiver Russell Gage. It’s the kind of stuff you can’t teach.
Brady says strong receiver-QB chemistry can take three to five years.
It seems a lot faster than that with Gage, and Todd Bowles addressed it after practice today. “It seems like they have natural vibe,” Bowles said, noting Gage knows how to get open and it’s obvious.
Joe is drooling. Can opening night get here already!?!

Much needed signing. Not only because of godwin but evans about to turn 29. Hopefully we dont see it this year but its not entirely out of ordinary to see a dip in production from him in a year or so

Now we can all more fully appreciate why Brady reached out to Gage – the guy can get open. Gage is like a clone of Godwin, but slimmer and quicker. Perfect combination of skill-sets for our 2 slot WR’s. Really like this addition.

This is why Gage will have more yards, receptions, and TD’s than Evans. TB12 likes to throw to the open man, and Evans never gets separation.

Jason says that Mike Evans never gets separation. OMG, do you actually watch Bucs football games? Evans usually gets the other teams best corner on him and gets doubled a lot and he still wins against intense coverage. If by separation you mean open by 20 yards, that doesn’t happen. He has started his career with 8 consecutive 1,000 yard seasons. The only man in NFL history to do that. The man is a future Hall of Famer, but he never gets open. I like to have a good laugh once in a while. Thanks for that Jason.
