If Suspension Length Stands, Bucs Would Face Deshaun Watson

August 1st, 2022

Bucs cornerback Carlton Davis

So for now, creepy Browns quarterback DeShaun Watson has a six-game suspension for the 2022 NFL season. It was handed down today by the judge ruling on his misdeeds on behalf of the NFL and its players association.

Watson had two dozen accusers with 23 out of 24 civil cases settled out of court connected to his twisted brand of massage therapy.

During his Bucs days, Jameis Winston had one accuser accusing him of fast-food-drive-through groping and somehow Jameis agreed to a three game suspension.Joe can only wonder what Jameis will think if Watson ends up with six games.

The NFL can appeal the ruling and exercise power to give Watson more time.

More important is the Buccaneers head to Cleveland in Week 12, and the Saints are there on Christmas Eve. The Panthers and Falcons are there in Weeks 1 and 4, respectively, so they definitely won’t see Watson. Joe thinks it’s very safe to say the Browns are a much better team with Watson than without.

Perhaps the Bucs get lucky and the NFL doubles the Watson suspension, so the Bucs would miss him while the Saints wouldn’t.

If we do have to face What?Son! this season, hopefully our D-Line massages him onto the turf…24 or 25 times.

  2. #8 Says:

The Bucs will have a happy ending after the W anyway.

  3. Alanbucsfan Says:

Winning games vs Opponents’ backup QB’s is not really satisfying..

  4. FirstTimePoster Says:

Why is everyone afraid to face this guy? His name isn’t Brady. Browns, with or without him, are the least of my concerns.

  5. Alexander Nascimento Says:

When you compare this to JW suspension it’s ridiculous

  6. #8 Says:

Many Brady looks annoyed at podium.

  7. Bucs&Bolts Says:

I think six games is not enough. This guy smh

  8. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

Are the Bucs that good at notching W’s against a backup? Methinks NOT.

  9. BuxfaninTX Says:

WTF six games? Calvin Ridley and Zeus Elliott got more for less serious….

  10. Bird Says:

Unbelievable. Of course he only got 6 games. I am biting my tongue here but not a shocker

  11. Allbuccedup Says:

Brady got four games for an underinflated football thats just ridiculous. He suspension should have been the whole season. But I guess it depends who you are. Robert Kraft was on video at an illegal massage parlor and nothing happened so much for the NFLs conduct policy what a joke.

  12. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

It will be nice seeing our top 10 defense stomp him into the mud.

Meanwhile, *allegedly* deflating footballs is only two games worse than 24 accusations of sexual assault by women who basically told the same story. Ben Roethlisberger was initially suspended six games for a single accusation. Never was arrested and never found guilty, only an accusation. The punishment should be a year, minimum.

  14. SlyPirate Says:

Meh. Watson hasn’t played in a long time. He’ll have five games with a new team under his belt. Not concerned.

  15. Goatfarmer Says:

Watson has plenty of time to find more ways to screw up.

  16. GOB Says:

What’s the old saying? A grand jury would indict a ham sandwich. They didn’t in this case. What remains are civil matters. Only one accuser has failed to reach a settlement. Did he do what he was accused of? Sure, probably. But our justice system doesn’t work on suppositions. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Anyone with a brain recognizes Watsons talent. He’s easily a top 10 QB.

  17. GOB Says:

BTW, the league has excused much more abhorrent behavior. From BAs close friend Big Ben, to Antonio Brown and Kareem Hunt. They were not suspended for an entire season. Six games is about what I expected.

  18. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

GOB, in judge Robinson’s ruling on Watson’s case, she stated she knew Watson was lying because of the preponderance of the evidence and credibility of witnesses and experts who examined the case and that Watson was not remorseful for his actions.

He is guilty. IMO, Watson’s actions deserve way more than a 6 game suspension.
