Celebrating Health

August 29th, 2022

Manbeasts Akiem Hicks and Vita Vea.

It’s worth taking in the serenity of Honeymoon Island (or perhaps Hooters) to thank the football gods for the Bucs’ great health on defense.

Joe knows of no starters on defense with a significant issue. And is anyone even banged up along the Bucs’ front-7? Joe heard Joe Tryon-Shoyinka was “sore,” but that’s about it, and that is fantastic news.

It’s too easy to look at the Bucs’ offensive line and start scheduling psychologist appointments. The crowd thinking too much about Chris Godwin’s knee and Russell Gage’s hamstring need to alter their focus a bit.

Finally, that young and hungry Bucs defense (yungry?) is healthy and ready to explode. Joe’s already written about Lavonte David’s revival and Devin White is sure to be shot out of a cannon on Sept. 11. The younger Bucs front line should have a more explosive new look, as well, while Carlton Davis remains the Bucs’ old-man cornerback at 25 years old.

Yes, Joe’s going to celebrate health tonight. It’s so damn fleeting in the NFL, so Joe wants to enjoy how the Bucs should head to Dallas with feeling-great defense, the greatest quarterback in history and two healthy Hall of Fame receivers in Mike Evans and Julio Jones.

Joe better go knock on wood while he’s celebrating tonight! This post will be exhibit A for the superstitious crowd if things take a turn. Me though, I’m only a little stitious….

Super Bowl ready Defense in August
    LFG!

  5. David Says:

Yes we are all curious about Hansey and Goedeke , and how they will hold up, and the depth of the O Line but I’m not worried about the receivers. They have depth and Gage & Godwin will be back soon enough.

In the meantime, I am really looking forward to watching the defense. The glimpse we saw of the starters showed VEA and Hicks being absolutely dominant.
    JTS looked fantastic this preseason.
LVD looks like he found the fountain of youth.
All of that should equal Devon White & SHAQ exploding
Then when you add in (knock on wood) healthy DBs…. TOP 5 D

Like every year it is about the trenches and health.

Man it’s great to see the defense healthy. I truly believe that this could be a top 5 D this year (we were top 10 last year with all those injuries in the secondary). Folks are freaking out about the O Line but think back to 1999 and the lousy offense we had; we were like 27th in the league in points and 28th in yards. We had Sean “freakiing” King as QB, Jacquez Green was our leading receiver with a wopping 750 yds receiving, with Bert Emanuel and Reidal Anthony. Ok we did have Dunn and Alstott (both good). Our offensive line was composed of Hegemon (T), Pierson (T)-certainly well below our 2 starters now, Mayberry was decent at center, and Middleton and Diaz our guards. Head to head the current line is probably better because of the two tackles and guard. My point is the offense we have now (with our skill players) is on another level so stop complaining about if we had this offense in 1999 we’d most likely have 4 Superbowls by now.

Lavonte cutting like Rashad White behind Vea and Hicks for the sack was sick. Much more of that from the LBs if those two are up front.

Not only healthy but the younger players are more experienced…

White, Edwards, Winfield, SMB, Davis, Dean, JTS…….

Additions of Hicks, Ryan & Neal……not bad at all…..our D will be strong.

    Trade I’d like to see:

Chicago sends OL Cody Whitehair to Tampa Bay for WR Scotty Miller.

The former Kansas State Wildcat also has a tremendous track record of staying healthy, logging 6,224 snaps in his career, and missing only two games in six seasons. Moreover, Whitehair has experience at guard and center

Ahh! la la la la la – fingers in ears.

Wait. I am reading a blog. Ahh! My eyes!

Ok, just don’t drink Jobo’s shot and we’ll be fine, Joe.
