Akiem Hicks Has Been Unleashed

August 17th, 2022

Dominating in Nashville.

So Joe is up here in Nashville and decided to take a break from hunting Tomi Lahren or Carrie Underwood and monitor the Bucs’ practices this week with the Titans.

(Can someone with the NFL provide Joe with a logical, common sense reason why the Titans cannot be referred to with their first syllable like the Jags and/or the Bucs?)

Bucs defensive tackle Akiem Hicks is mauling Titans’ offensive linemen this morning and one guy who is paying the price is Tennessee quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Turron Davenport of BSPN saw this too and put it out on Twitter.

The Bucs pass rush is making life miserable for Tannehill. Shortly after Hicks blasted an offensive lineman, the Bucs’ pass rush got in Tannehill’s head and he threw a pick to Devin White.

The thought of Hicks going wilding on offensive linemen has Joe stoked this morning. Joe’s ready for regular season football here! Let’s get Dallas-ready!

Not too eager to see the next set of injuries. You all know they’re coming!

  2. Mike Says:

Thunder (Hcks and Vea) or Lightning (Barrett and JTS), take your pick!

  3. CrackWise Says:

Careful Joe, you might get taken seriously and have your words be taken as “talking violently”. You can’t be hunting people, let alone women.

  4. Upstate NY BUC Says:

    Shu Who… Go Bucs.

  5. Upstate NY BUC Says:

    Suh Who, Go Bucs…

  6. CrackWise Says:

Mike, that’s good but its reserved for RBs and FBs.

How about “Volcanos and Tornados” coming off the D-Line?

  7. Billy Bob Bubba Bo Baggins Says:

Can you imagine if Vita Vea and Hicks start getting in to competition with each other on who can get the the QB the quickest with the bull rush during games

  8. ZZBUC Says:

Music for my years Mr Joe!!! Just wonderfull !!!!

  9. CrackWise Says:

As far as your logical reason Joe. The Ti*s are on every team’s sidelines.

So, you see, people would not recognize the Tan’s.

    OR WOULD THEY?

  10. SlyPirate Says:

I hope they don’t play Hicks or Vea in the preseason. Lesson the probability of injury.

  11. Bucsfanman Says:

This is music to Fanman’s ears!
Lets get this production in regular season for 17 games. Should be fun to watch.

  12. David Says:

Tomi would definitely be worth the hunt.

At the end of every day I’m just hoping to hear there were no injuries.
I am living in fear after the IED exploded in the DB room last year.

  13. Tim Says:

(Can someone with the NFL provide Joe with a logical, common sense reason why the Titans cannot be referred to with their first syllable like the Jags and/or the Bucs?)

Because the NFL is as “woke” as any other corporation out there, and they would be scared to offend the LGBXYZ crowd and their delicate sensibilities.

But even the Tites would be funny.

  14. Casual Observer Says:

If Hicks can stay healthy – what a signing!

  15. #8 Says:

    Turducken.

We need the turducken meat rotation.

    Suh.

  16. Chris Tucker@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Yes, Hicks when healthy is a pure Beast.
He will provide the inside pass rush Suh never did.

  17. Irishmist Says:

About that nickname Joe- Are you saying that the NFL is putting the squeeze on?

  18. Buc1987 Says:

    Stay healthy big man.

  19. Alanbucsfan Says:

The “Gods” have a Titan at RB.

  20. Bird Says:

Good . Starters went today. Rest hicks tomorrow. He’s good. Rest julio tomorrow if he went today.

Injuries kept us from repeating last year. If injury happens in game , nothing you can do about it. When injuries happen in preseason practice or game , thats another issue.

The vets have proven they are legit. Nothing left to prove in preseason.

Good to hear! Cant wait to see vea next to hicks. Two very large maneaters

  21. Bird Says:

    Pooh

  22. 2022 Fire the Cannons Says:

    Stay healthy plzzzz

  23. David Says:

If that nickname is not used in order to not offend women, feminists and LGBTQ….. What kind of reasoning is that? Aren’t they the ones always marching and going topless anyway? Wouldn’t it be “empowering” !?

Seems like a win-win for men and women. But I guess if it’s too controversial they could just use a different nickname, like say… Afte a mountain range like …. The Grand Tetons

  24. geno711 Says:

Jeffery Simmons is out here bullying Aaron Stinnie in pass rush drills. Hit him with a bull rush and fan right through him.

  25. Defense Rules Says:

Chris Tucker … ‘Yes, Hicks when healthy is a pure Beast.
He will provide the inside pass rush Suh never did’.

And yet over their careers, Suh got 1 sack every 2.7 games while Hicks got 1 sack every 2.9 games. And oh ya, Suh got 1 QB Hit every 1.1 games while Hicks got 1 QB Hit every 1.24 games. Sure does seem like Suh was a better pass rusher over his career than Hicks has been. He also seemed to stay a lot healthier too.

But in any event Chris, if you say something loud enough & often enough in today’s world plenty of folks will believe you. Ask any politician.

  26. Goatfarmer Says:

Whelp — glad to hear Hicks is punishing the Tittans OL. Not surpised to hear that Simmons is having his way with Stinnie.

Bubble wrap time for Hicks — can’t afford an injury.

As for Stinnie — keep sending him out there against Simmons, and use the film and the bruises to his body and pride to coach him up.

  27. DrunkinYbor Says:

I love boo Bees! Actually I just realized my heart is with the Bucs but my mind is with the T.ITs ans

  28. Steven007 Says:

Linguistically speaking, wouldn’t appropriating the first syllable of the Titans be the Ti’s? Anyway, good to hear that Hicks is doing his job. As most are echoing, it’s injuries that we’re concerned about at this point with all of our players. Hope they stay at an absolute minimum.

  29. PassingThru Says:

Told you so…. this is the man you want, not Sue. It’s a gamble though, it’s a matter of health.

    Flowers

  30. PassingThru Says:

I hate auto-correct on my cellphone

  31. DEEEMO Says:

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS….GOTTA GET TO THE QB AND PUT PRESSURE ON THEM! Also need the D-LINE to stay healthy!

  32. MadMax Says:

Yes! Thats why I wanted him!

The plan is going as planned 🙂

    Just stay healthy Mr. Hicks.

  33. Defense Rules Says:

Davenport … ‘Man listen, I just witnessed a murder. The way Akiem Hicks just bull rushed Dillon Radunz en route to Ryan Tannehill was not right. Sheesh.’

Turns out the Radunz is a 2nd year OLineman who mostly sat the bench last year. And at 6’6″ & 301 lbs he probably felt like he’d been run over by a freight train when Hicks ran his 6’4″ & 335 lb body through him. Sounds like Radunz got schooled.

  34. geno711 Says:

No doubt over his whole career Suh is the better player than Hicks.

All that matters is whether Bowles thinks that Hicks is better for the Bucs defense this year. I really think that is an ephaptic YES! from the organization.

Bowles may be wrong and DR might be right. I respect your opinion DR, but right now, I am going with Todd’s assessment.

If we look at stats since 2016 then:
Hicks at 1 sack every 2.4 games.
Suh at 1 sack every 3.4 games.

If talking quarterback hits since 2016 then:
Hicks over a hit each game. 1.14 hits per game.
Suh is UNDER a hit a game. .97 hits per game.

Feels like at least a Bill Belichick move to me. Just in case get rid of Suh a year too early as opposed to a year too late.

Suh clearly had his worst years on tackles last year EVER (only 15 solo tackles). Maybe that was the sign that Bowles and company saw that made them decide he was no longer the guy.

  35. MadMax Says:

    ^that

  36. Buczilla Says:

    F yeah!

  37. Bojim Says:

    Tomi Lahren. 🙄
