“A True Warrior, A True Champion, You Don’t Want To Go Out Like That”

August 15th, 2022

Revels texts with Tom Brady.

Playoff Lenny divulged a text conversation he had with now vacationing Tom Brady while the Bucs quarterback was struggling whether to throw in the towel on his career.

Playoff Lenny shared this when he appeared on “Movin’ the Chains,” co-hosted by Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller, heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio. The duo broadcast live from Bucs training camp last week.

Playoff Lenny said he never got the sense Brady’s heart fully embraced ending his playing days. And of course, Playoff Lenny wanted Brady to unretire because Playoff Lenny knew the magic the team had with Brady.

“A week after we lost to the Rams I was texting him,” Playoff Lenny explained. “‘Man, we left so much out on that field.’ And he was like, ‘We started off slow… ‘ and things like that. And I was telling him, ‘Man, you just can’t go out like that. Just think about it.’

“In his heart, he wanted to come back. And I felt like a true warrior, a true champion, you don’t want to go out like that.”

Though Playoff Lenny, who was a free agent this offseason, did flirt with other teams including the Belicheats, which raised the ire of Brady, even Playoff Lenny admitted his heart was with the Bucs. A big reason is how the team has treated him since he signed two years ago.

“Getting cut and coming here, they treated me like a true brother,” Playoff Lenny said. “They treated me like family. So, why not come back? That was my thing. Why not? It made perfect sense for me.”

Clearly, Playoff Lenny confessed, Brady coming back set the dominos in motion for a return for not just him, but Ryan Jensen and Carlton Davis.

“When Tom decided to come back it pretty much made it a done deal for everybody,” Playoff Lenny said. He then added that he and Brady have become tight. “We have a great bond.”

Joe thinks that is just cool as hell.

I had drunk the Kool-Aid and believed that Lenny was a head case during his time with the jags. And obviously even early in his time here he seemed to be the same player we had always heard about. Then things seem to click for him. And now he seems like a confident pro. Hard working, jovial, gets along great with his teammates seemingly. Happy for the revival and hope he brings it this season.

  2. J Ghotier Says:

I was kinda right there w/ ya on all that AND great synopsis there by you and I agree as well!

  3. JA Says:

Heard Lenny’s training camp interview on the Sirius NFL Network last week. He sounded jovial, yet extremely dedicated to Brady and Bucs football.
Despite his early bouts with melancholy, I firmly believe he has turned the corner. Wish we had more like him.
    IMO, of course …

  4. Jeff Says:

Tom’s gone. Wife needs him to retire and the pressure is breaking him. Brady will not be the Bucs starting QB in 2022 and beyond.

  5. RPK Says:

Can’t wait for the opener. TB12 will be ready to rock.

Some commenters on JBF forum claiming they have “inside sources” are full of s**t

    His family is not sick.

He is not wavering on playing this season. Seriously?

“But he doesn’t look happy at camp” LMFAO! STFU!

Let the 45-year-old GOAT manage his last season the way he wants. Do you prefer DRAMA with GOAT or sucking *** again?

He is Fully Committed. Full Send. Let’s GO!!!

  6. '79 Defense Says:

Leonard is becoming a favorite, not just of the current team but of my all time favorite Bucs going back to ’76.

  7. Maniac Buc Says:

@Jeff, there isn’t a chance Brady is retiring. He’ll be back ready to rock after this next preseason game. Some people love conspiracies. There is no conspiracy here. Brady is the Bucs QB.

  8. Jake Says:

@jeff stop being a Brady hater, the only reason u want him to retire is because u know he’s about to get his 8th ring and u can’t stand it. He ain’t going anywhere.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Brady is one of those men who makes everyone feel you are his best friend…..that is a very rare trait.

  10. Casual Observer Says:

“Cool as hell” is an accurate appraisal.

  11. J Ghotier Says:

Tom Brady is not “vacationing”. Have no clue what he’s doing, but its not a vacay.

Todd Bowles when he first announced it last week at his post-practice PC said that “it’s something Tom NEEDS to HANDLE”. “Handle” alone is a very specific choice of words to use there….even more so when couple w/ the word “needs”.

Then you add the cherry on top w/ “….and we trust him”

Joe is one of the best at reading in between the lines and this is certainly no vacay….he’ll be back for certain (barring something extreme/extreme circumstance) though!

  12. Dooley Says:

    Let’s Go Lenny

  13. Listnfrmafar Says:

What I don’t get is, if this was a pre-planned absence, why wasn’t it announced earlier before camp or at begining of OTA’s? It would of avoided all the media questions and drama and written off as something negotiated in his coming back. This is a marital issue and it ain’t going to fair well for the Bucs.

  14. Anonymous Says:

The media and retarded fans think these players have to let them know what they’re doing. Ignorance

  15. J Ghotier Says:

….the 2nd to last thing Bowles said at that PC was worrisome too

When asked if he had confidence in Brady being back by week 1 (or something to that degree, as it’s hard to hear exactly what the Reporter asked), he left a window for doubt.

He could’ve just said Brady will def be there for week 1 if he knows. I bet he knows for certain, barring injury, that the other 52 Players that make the roster will be there for Week 1. But he only said something to the effect of, “there’s doubt, but I have a PRETTY high level of confidence”

So there’s both “doubt” and ONLY “a ‘pretty’ high level of confidence” 🤷‍♂️🤔

I shall remain positive though…..but d@mn there has been weird off-season transpirings and happenings at One Buc Place this off-season, and unlike any other!

  16. GOB Says:

I’m sorry but Lenny is full of it. The bucs gave him the best offer, that’s why he’s here.
Listn, I agree about this Brady saga. He looked completely miserable at camp. Some have suggested it’s because of Jensen’s injury, and Gronks absence. I don’t buy it. Then people said it was a family health issue. The only thing I can think of, is that super G demanded this time. Brady can’t come out and say, hey my wife won’t let me play, I’m grounded. If indeed his marriage is in trouble, it’s obviously going to take away some of his focus. This is bad.

  17. Joseph C Simmons Says:

If Brady retired, he’d have nothing to be ashamed of. You can’t win the Super Bowl EVERY year. He would’ve went out like a champ, pulling off a 27-3 comeback to tie.

  18. Buckaroo Boozie Says:

TB12 doesn’t need the grind of camp and don’t be surprised if Gronk comes back after week 4🤙🏻

  19. Casual Observer Says:

Come to think of it, maybe “cool as hell” isn’t quite the description that onw wants.

  20. GOB Says:

It isn’t about needing camp, of course he doesn’t. It’s the attitude. Most vets despise camp. Brady doesn’t. When fully engaged, he loves the process. This whole thing is troubling. Whatever the case, enjoy his last year. Here’s anyway. He’ll either be in the booth, or playing in Miami next year. If he plays another season in Tampa, super G will probably divorce him, if the proceedings haven’t begun already. In all likelihood, this is his his last year period.

  21. GOB Says:

    Here

  22. Buccos Says:

From what I’m hearing all is not well in Bradyland. Rumor has it that he has marital problems. Hopefully it gets worked out one way or the other. If not this is Kyle Trask’s world and you all are just living in it

  23. GOB Says:

Buccos, the source apparently said super G went berserk when he unretired. The source also says the construction of their Miami home has become a nightmare, adding to the tension. This source also says not to believe anything Brady says, and any other explanation is a smoke screen. She’s apparently making threats, and if he doesn’t take them seriously, trouble is around the corner. This has all the earmarks of someone in super Gs camp, possibly one of her sisters. GOB has it on fairly good authority, that the retirement leak came from her camp, not his. I’m not sure what to believe.

  24. BillyBucco Says:

Look I understand divorce is a serious deal.
I’ve been happily married for 15 years now and couldn’t imagine a divorce.
But I can honestly say, my wife would NEVER make me retire if I could still win SBs.
If this is a marital issue, Brady will end up pissed, and I’m not sure that is a bad thing when it comes to football.
It is most definitely messing with my MOJO and that is what’s most important to me after all.
This might end up being the wackiest season ever.

  25. Pete Says:

    “Cool as hell” indeed!

  26. Bucsfan13 Says:

The reporter who said Brady looked “miserable” in camp is a known Boston media troll. He said Brady hated the FL heat and humidity. Everyone in camp looked miserable from the heat. It was a bunch of BS. This isn’t Brady’s first season experiencing FL heat and humidity. This reporter is also the one who said Brady wanted to play for the Dolphins. So Brady’s miserable in the FL heat, but also wants to live and play in Miami? Makes sense. Most of the Boston guys on this board and media love speculating about Tom, and it’s boarding on stage 5 clinger behavior. A lot of Pats fans and media resent that Brady came to TB to play here and have been saying he looked miserable since he’s got here. Yes, I’m sure Tom misses those cold NE winters.

  27. Brazen Zebra Says:

Will Tom play in 2022? Maybe not. Jensen, his bodyguard, is gone. Gronk, his dynamic-duo partner, is gone. Family issues are nagging. The old body is aching. His skills are suffering. The Bucs may have to go fishing for Garappolo. I hope I’m wrong, but Father Time is the boss man. He catches everybody.

  28. Coran Says:

Zebra, that’s crazy. He’s won with new centres, you’re speculating about the marriage, yeah Gronk is gone but he has tons of other weapons, and his skills are maybe better than ever.

So many posters here are ridiculous. Stop guessing. None of us know. And you’re all using, what, prior experience to make your assessment? But guess what? There has literally never been this situation before so you’re all applying irrelevant insight. No one has been this good at this age. No one has ever accomplished what Tom has. This team has never had anyone on his level. How many power couple like him and G have ever existed in the NFL? (None). Literally none of your “knowledge” or “insight” or “experience” is properly informed and is therefore less likely to be accurate. Calm down. Stop reading into things. You’re just wasting time and energy…

  29. Goatfarmer Says:

Look – if Geezie is really demanding he quit, or leave in the middle of the season because she has to have someone work with the housekeeper who is in charge of the nannies who look after the kids, it’s simple.

    Dump the dud.

Brady needs to leave G-hag in the rear view mirror. Annie Agar can throw a football better than G-hag anyway.

  30. Stan says Says:

I hope TB12 gets can get things resolved for him and his family sake. I love the Bucs and always will. I will get killed for the next statement. It’s just a game it’s just a game. All these guys have issues in their lives no amount of money can fix. Please Mr. Brady take care of your family first you have nothing to prove to any of us. Let’s join together and pray for him and his family. The rest will take care of It’s self. The game will be here if your return and if you don’t thank you and my God bless you and your family in all things.
