Todd Bowles Goes With Unpopular Offseason Schedule

June 3rd, 2022

Todd Bowles

The Bucs wrapped up their final official offseason training activity (OTA) session today and will close out spring work with mandatary mincamp June 7 -9.

That’s not a typical schedule across the NFL.

Only four other teams are wrapping up that early: the Rams, Vikings, Giants and Steelers.

The majority extend their spring program an additional week. The Saints are one example.

New Orleans’ final four voluntary OTA days are June 7-10, and then mincamp runs June 14-16. The Packers have the same mandatory minicamp as the Bucs, but they come back a week later for three more OTA sessions. (Joe actually likes that strategy, so younger players can review their performance against all the veterans.)

For whatever reason, Todd Bowles opted to condense the Bucs spring schedule and, likely, get his veteran team and coaching staff an extra week off.

Training camp dates have yet to be announced. Hopefully Team Glazer has an epiphany and opens camp to average Joes, aka fans without pricey season tickets.

Time to right that shameful, wrong, Team Glazer.

Joe is sure Team Glazer can find a way to put at least 100 seats somewhere for the masses. Joe’s been shopping online and it’s not that expensive.

  4. PSLBob Says:

TBBF, really? Who tied your tail in a knot? Or is that sarcasm?

  5. SB Says:

@PSL………That was sarcasm. I assure you.

I’m never a fan of less practice time, personally…

    But wtf do I know?

  7. Leopold Stotch Says:

Lol that took me for loop before I read it was TBBF

  8. GOB Says:

The new CBA rules are a joke. One padded practice per week for the first 11 weeks, then none? No wonder nobody can tackle anymore.

  9. buddy Says:

Joe TEAM GLAZER is naturally cheap its their family background. Just look at how they are strong arming fans to buy 2 seasons worth of season tickets. They know TB is outta here after this season and are trying to guarantee they get their dollars next season when there will be maybe 35k in the stands again.

  10. Biff Barker Says:

    Camp Cupcake, the sequel.

  11. Dooley Says:

Didn’t we get an earlier start to our off-season program on account of Bowles being a named the new HC?

  12. William Walls Says:

That’s so not a good look, buddy.

  13. TampabayDJ82 Says:

BUDDY – You must be one of those bandwagon fans I’ve been complaining about. You obviously didn’t watch the Bucs before Brady came to town and certainly not the lost decade. It’s called smart business buddy .. They couldn’t give away tickets 8 years ago and I remember clearly TEAM GLAZER buying up extra seats JUST SO the fans could watch it on TV and not have the games blackouts !! Glazers are the best owners ever. You must be a soccer fan and are jumping on the “Man United” bandwagon.. Your a blowhard and a !diot .. Go watch a soccer game or something.. Go Bucs

    PSL

Of course, sarcasm….with a moniker like TBBF, you will rarely hear a negative comment about a player Snd never about the team.

  17. GOB Says:

Best owners ever? Please stop. Brady is the reason your franchise is relevant. Tampabaydj, once he leaves, you’ll have another couple of lost decades. I’m not a bucs fan, never claimed to be. Do you people have any idea how much money Brady has generated for your franchise? I’m sure Joe appreciates the extra traffic. Some here will actually be happy to have Brady gone. If you’re desire is to go back to cellar dwellers, you won’t have long to wait. Watch this ownership run it straight into the ground, AGAIN.

  18. GOB Says:

    Your

  19. Goatfarmer Says:

Good. Todd showed in the Rams game how his defense performs with less preparation. Wouldn’t want to get the newcomers extra reps or anything.

    Don’t like it.

  20. Adrnagy Says:

    Tampabaybucfan is right.
Everything was blame on communication and slooww start. 17 games played and coulndt line up or communicate ???

  21. Pewter Power Says:

Coach said he had regrets about the way he did things in his first stint as head man I hope that’s what drives him because the culture is already set here

  22. GOB Says:

GF, agreed. I need a beer and a shot

  23. Goatfarmer Says:

GOB I see your beer and a shot and raise you two shots.

  24. Chris Says:

Low key or just low class.

  27. Bucsfan4ever Says:

I remember back in the old days when 6 or 7 home games every year were radio only. They had a hell of a great radio team. Even our first kickoff return for a touchdown was on the radio, not the TV. Micheal Spurlock???

  28. Bbro Says:

The Tampa weather conditions require that you be prepared for the heat and the humidity especially when you play have all your practices and play most your games in it. If you’re not going to be prepared not only to have that advantage over the visiting team but dominant over them in this smoldering environment. I can easily remember my mid 70’s practices in Tampa and many of those that thought they wanted it so bad would drop like flies on the practice field. Overheated, puking etc you have to be prepared for it.

  29. Jeff Says:

    And the coaching mistakes begin

  30. SufferingSince76 Says:

GOB, Long suffering Bucs fans are fully aware of our team’s history and Brady’s affect. We are also very aware you aren’t a fan of the team. You are more irritant than informative, but I’m assuming that’s your thing.

  31. Buczilla Says:

Lol, the Glazers create shameful wrongs (waves at Gruden), they don’t fix em. Just wait til they want us to pay for a new stadium. They’ll be threatening a whole host of shameful wrongs then. I appreciate them for spending the loot to keep us competitive, but I wouldn’t trust one of these leprechauns as far as I could throw em.

  32. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

I don’t care just effing win ! Or we gonna fire your ass bowels

  33. Goatfarmer Says:

    Zillow – Leprechauns! LOL. Perfect.
