I agree, the best team won. We just could not deal with their speed, plus they are used to playing in Denver, at a Mile High Elevation, and we are not!
This gave them a HUGE advantage, especially in the first 2 games!
Vasilevsky said he was tired after a game, and he has never said that before.
Colorado was also much more rested then us, because they sailed through all their opponents.

Hockey without fights is just men in shorts ice skating.

  3. Mike C Says:

If the Lightning have a healthy Braden Point, they are the better team.

    @Mike C

I agree because the Avs have an average goalie at best. Yeah they have some more team speed but “Pointer” would have evened that out a lot.

Meanwhile Mike and any other hockey fans. I fear disaster ahead for the Bolts.

The Monster of Moscow is losing and growing more desperate. He just blasted a mall full of innocent teenagers and other shoppers. Russia is now personal non grata around the world, even China is backing away from the man of all those war crimes.

My point…as sanctions…(yesterday it was Russian gold) ratchet up how long before the U.S. refuses to allow Russian players to trot back home with MILLIONS?

I’m not suggesting it’s fair…I just fear the result. I feel sorry for the players, they didn’t elect the “Monster”, they just have to deal with the fallout. And they have families in Russia so no decision will come easily. They could defect like Baryshinikov, Kasporov, and many others but what would happen to their families.

It doesn’t take a great imagination to realize what happens to the Lightning if some embargo is placed on Russian players in the NHL!!!

We’d lose the best goalie in the world…one of the top forwards in the world…and an up and coming young defensement in Sergachev who finally seemed to reach his potential in this years playoffs.

There is simply no way to replace those three. Meanwhile…The Rangers have the 2nd best goalie..also Russian…but the Avs..only one. And the reaction of the NHL has already begun.

The Russian players participating in the Stanley Cup Finals for Tampa Bay and the Avalanche won’t be allowed to take the trophy back to their home country this summer.

Winger Valeri Nichushkin is the lone Russian player on the Avalanche, and winger Nikita Kucherov, defenseman Mikhail Sergachev and goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy play for Tampa Bay.

The NHL’s decision is in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine earlier this year.

Meanwhile Wimbledon has banned Russian and Belurussian players this year.

I’m holding my breath. We are uncompetitive without the three stars..especially Vasy!!!
