Mock Drafts Drove Tom Brady; No Buccaneers In Brady’s Car

June 15th, 2022

“Sorry, Mike.”

The greatest quarterback in Buccaneers history was talking football today on Peacock with The Dan Patrick Show.

Tom Brady had plenty to say and Joe’s going to pair a couple of random nuggets below.

Patrick playfully needled Brady a bit how he’s been so focused on how he was drafted in Round 6 and a bunch of QBs were taken prior to him. Brady explained that “it was the beginning of the Internet” and he was focused on the emergence of mock drafts and was dialed into all the things being said about him.

Nowadays, Brady says he doesn’t keep up with everything reported about him, though that’s hard to believe considering he has representatives and a social media team.

Interestingly, Patrick asked Brady to name three players he’d put in his car to take with him and start a new football franchise. Patrick said they could be from any era, teammates or not.

Brady said three wasn’t enough and added there would be about 10 guys. He proceeded to spit out about 10 names but none were Bucs or former Bucs except Gronk. (Rodney Harrison, Wes Welker, Ty Law, Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Randy Moss, Richard Seymour, Junior Seau, Asante Samuel. Vince Wilfork and Matt Light)

C’mon, Tommy!

Motivation. That’s what he just did.

  2. rriddler Says:

As great as some of the players are on this current Bucs team, you can’t really be surprised that only Brady would be on a list of 10 from ALL TIME.

  3. #8 Says:

Suh is too big to fit into a car with others.

  4. Bucsfan13 Says:

Brady also named Evans and Godwin as his favorite receivers he’s played, and he’s said in the past that Godwin had the best hands of any receiver he’s played with. The respect is there. Don’t be like the insufferable Pats fans who complained that he left them out of his retirement post.

  5. Alanbucsfan Says:

Brady was smart not to name any current Bucs (Gronk is not a current Buc, yet).

    DID YOU KNOW?

TB12’s rankings in Bucs QB history after this season* …
    Wins – 1st
    Yards – 2nd
    TD – 1st
    INT – 8th

    *Same stats as 2021

  7. Chris Tucker@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Brady named the who’s who of the great Patriot Teams of the past.
Can’t blame him, because he won many many Super Bowls, with those guys.
He has only won one Super Bowl with us, so far.

  8. SufferingSince76 Says:

I’m not going to doubt him. He does know football. As mentioned, hopefully it will be motivation for the Bucs players.

  9. GOB Says:

I’m a Pat’s fan, and I have a problem with that list. Moss, Welker, and Samuel didn’t win Rings in NE. Matter of fact two of those guys cost themselves Rings. Welker dropped a key pass in SB 46, that would’ve given the Patriots a first down, inside the 20 yard. Many Patriots fans, myself included believe they win if he catches that ball. Samuel dropped a gift wrapped pick in SB 42, that would’ve sealed the game and a perfect season.

Moss didn’t cost us a Ring, but I never liked him as a player. Brady has said, he’s the smartest WR he ever played with. But he was a dog much of the time. Give me Godwin and Evans over Welker and Moss any day. The only reason Asante Samuel is on that list, is because he routinely picked off Brady in practice.

  10. GOB Says:

BTW, I don’t begrudge Brady for leaving NE. The Patriots were not winning the superbowl in 2020. They were starting a reset, and it would’ve been painful to watch Brady with that roster. He made The best decision for his career, and GOB is happy he won another Ring. Unless it’s Pat’s vs. Bucs in the superbowl (doubtful) I’m rooting for the goat.

  11. sasquatch Says:

Jeezus, throw Mike Evans or Chris Godwin or Ryan Jensen a bone ferkreissake! Ungrateful SOB 🤣🤣🤣

  12. GOB Says:

I also have a problem with Seau being on that list. By the time he was a patriot, junior was a shell of himself as a player. He was still a great leader, but not very productive. Brady has tremendous fondness for that 07 team, and I don’t understand why. Their arrogance blinded them in the end.

  13. Buc50 Says:

Moss didn’t win a ring but he’s the best receiver that he’s ever had. 1 ring doesn’t make you great. Dilfer is not better that Marino.

  14. Stone crab sam Says:

No Willie Mcginest? Brady is starting to slip in his senior years😂

  15. GOB Says:

Buc50, Moss played when he wanted to. Sure, they had tremendous success, setting the single season record for receiving TDs. Had Bernard Pollard not destroyed Brady’s ACL, what could have been. Moss became disgruntled during the 09 season, and turned into a cancer in 2010. He’s the most talented reciever I’ve ever seen, but his effort wasn’t always there. Think of what he could’ve been had he tried on every play. If he wasn’t the primary target on a given play, he didn’t run hard. Because of that fact, it was difficult to use him as a decoy. He pissed away most of his career, and was more worried about money than anything else.

  16. View from 132 Says:

Not surprising. He plays for Team Brady and the rest is gloss. He isn’t a Bucs fan… the Bucs are just a team of the 32 that fit in his platform. They were the team that had the cap room, the young talent, and the proven offensive coach when he came here, and he’s returning to take one last run.

You’ll never even see a Bucs logo around him after this is over… just a tour stop to a famous act.

  17. GOB Says:

View, I don’t think you’re far off, just on the offensive coach part. Even if he plays another couple years for Tampa, he’ll retire a patriot. He desperately wanted to end his career with one team, The team that drafted him. Brady and Bill have already made up. Belichick went into the Tampa locker room to congratulate him on the victory. For Christ sake, Bill sent one of the best guards in the league to him for a fifth round pick.

  18. August 1976 Buc Says:

Maybe they were not in the Car, but they were in the “Boat” and tossing around ol Lombardi lol
And maybe another Boat Parade again inFeb 2023

    GO BUCS!!!!

  19. August 1976 Buc Says:

Hey GOB, TB has got to put a Skull and Cross swords patch on the Pats Jersey, maybe on the Sleeve. He has 1 Lombardi as a Buc, and there just might be an 8th Lombardi added in 2023 to Bradys personal display case at the his house lol

    GO BUCS!!!

  20. August 1976 Buc Says:

132….You’ll never even see a Bucs logo around him after this is over… just a tour stop to a famous act.

No Documentary about Brady playing Football is complete without showing hoisting the Lombardi trophy in a Buc Uniform, just sayin. And there might be a 2nd one this in Feb 2023, who knows.
But I can say, I’m very glad the GOAT decided to play for the Bucs, for whatever reasons, does not matter to me. Winning is fun, losing sux lol

    GO BUCS!!!!!
