Leonard Fournette: Go With “Lombardi Lenny”

June 25th, 2022

Talks nicknames.

Joe has always been a nickname guy, and the following new chatter reminds Joe of a few times when members of the Bucs voiced an issue with one of Joe’s nicknames.

The first big objection was Joe referring to then-Bucs head coach Raheem Morris as “Raheem The Dream.” Joe went there because Raheem was living a dream scenario as a 32-year-old NFL head coach. Plus, the nickname was a play on “Akeem The Dream,” the world famous nickname of NBA great Hakeem Olajuwon, who had won back-to-back NBA titles 14 years prior.

It seemed like the perfect nickname, but some power hitters at One Buc Palace freaked out and months later Joe agreed to drop “The Dream” and only refer to the head coach as “Raheem.”

Then came former Bucs tight end Kellen Winslow and his wife personally — and in person! — kindly asking Joe to stop referring to her husband as “Sgt. Winslow.” The nickname wasn’t unique to JoeBucsFan and was tied to Winslow’s viral I’m-a-soldier speech in college. No problem; Joe obliged.

Fast-forward to the present, and Leonard Fournette is a man with many nicknames. “Playoff Lenny” seems to be the most popular but “Lombardi Lenny” has a stronghold, and there are others.

NFL Network star Rich Eisen had Fournette on his Peacock show this week and asked him which is his preferred nickname.

Thankfully, Fournette said he appreciates them all, but he said his favorite is “definitely” Lombardi Lenny.

“That name is definitely legendary around here in Tampa,” Fournette said.

So there you have it. If you want to put the biggest smile on Fournette’s face, call him Lombardi Lenny.

As for nicknames, Joe remains ecstatic that “Den of Depression” was retired on Jan. 3, 2021 and replaced about five weeks later by The Licht House.

I watched the Bills game replay today

Let’s just say it was a wonderful reinforcement of how valuable Lombardi Lenny really is

Besides the 47 yd td dash, caught multiple balls, picked up the blitz more than once and was an overall difference maker

Hah! Watson getting a year+ suspension!

Told you wackos getting him would be a huge mistake. Browns are in the butter…again. I’d fire the GM.

Heard this same story many a time, but I do have a authentic Hakeem throwback and a tank top that has 34 and Hakeem the Dream on the back. Might be the best sports nickname ever. Let’s not forget “Clyde the Glide” Drexler when talking Rockets players nicknames. Might be second best.

  9. Chris Tucker@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Well, the guys at the local sports bar overall love JBF.
However, they took exception to calling Mark Dominick a Rock Star.

Where the hell is Winslow !!!

  11. Goatfarmer Says:

I always liked Raheehaw for the Bucs panic hire after firing Gruden.

He and Dumbernik dug the Bucs into a very deep hole.
