Vita Vea: Playoff Loss Was Valuable

May 17th, 2022

Vita Vea

The Pro Bowl manbeast of the Buccaneers defense was talking today after Day 1 of OTA practice at One Buc Palace.

Defensive tackle Vita Vea has moved more into a wise sage role with Ndamukong Suh gone and the fact that Vea is a fifth-year player. That had Vea reflecting on the groin-stomp loss to the Rams in January.

“I think there’s a lot to learn from, especially from the past two years and especially as being a young group. You know, we had a really young group when we won the Super Bowl. And I think last year we had some good experience of actually losing in the playoffs, as weird as it sounds,” Vea said.

“I don’t know. I think it makes you more hungry when that happens. I think there’s a lot to learn from that, just losing and not being there and winning the year before.”

A follow up question asked Vea if he’ and the Bucs are more hungry than in 2021. “There’s always a greater hunger [than the previous season],” Vea replied. He added that it was tough to get over the Rams loss and it didn’t happen for him quickly.

Joe sure hopes that painful loss to the Rams inspired the Bucs. Joe is very confident it’s fuel for Tom Brady, and it should be for every returning player and especially the new head coach.

I’m sure the players have Nov. 6 circled on the calendar. The Rams are now the hunted. It’s completely new territory for them, like it was for the bucs (except Brady) last year. I believe the Nov. 6 game will determine seeding in the NFC playoffs.

The Rams were a very good team…..well coached….loaded with talent on both sides…….they are still a good team….but maybe just a tad less than last year.

Hope Vita is in better shape……30-40 snaps a game is not enough to justify his salary.

In the words of Sergeant Schultz: very valuable Vita Vea vooks very vat.

Too bad Bowles consistently get clowned by McVay. In the past 4 matchups vs the Bucs MCVay has made Bowles defense look silly.

The only way we stop them is by lucking into a turnover.

Vea has a great disposition but he could be a scary guy if motivated to hurt somebody.

The weak minded part of me that can’t get over that life is not fair wishes punk Alvin Kamara and his boys had run into Vea in that Vegas Nightclub. Punk Kamara would have been picking up his golden grill when Vea finished with that loser. Next up let Kareem Hunt try Vea instead of a woman!

I hope that every member of the defense—especially those on the field for final Kupp embarrassment drive—feel rage. I hope they watch the tapes of themselves falling all over themselves over and over and feel the bitterness. No excuse. No “we forgive ourselves”. No Phoenix Suns “whatever, it was just one game, time for vacation” attitude.

(Speaking of the Suns, it’s hilarious to see Phoenix fans posting about how right now they’re feeling like like Bucs fans used to. Hilarious. Except the losing in Tampa may resume, with this season’s death schedule.)

    He Looks Really Hungry…….
