“I Do It Because I Love My Teammates”

May 9th, 2022

Tom Brady speaks.

Tom Brady has been all over the globe recently, and one stop last week had him at a Formula One race in South Florida.

Brady was hanging with Michael Jordan and many other sports legends, but he also found time to sit down with former Bills and Falcons linebacker Coy Wire, who is part of CNN’s sports team.

Brady talked about how his life was much less complicated at 35 years old than it is now nearing 45. And he added that playing football has become a year-round commitment for his body to be successful.

It seemed Brady was trying to say it’s extremely hard being a dad, a superhero athlete, a good family member, and a self-obsessed businessman at the same time.

“That’s been the biggest challenge as I’ve gotten older, you know, trying to make sure my priorities stay my priorities,” Brady told Wire. “You know, those priorities have changed over time, but I feel when it’s football season, that’s where my (smiles), it’s always been my first love. It’s just amazing to still have the ability to go out and compete like I’ve done. I do it because I love my teammates; that’s really the reality.”

Joe found the firm sincerity in Brady’s voice interesting when he referenced playing for his teammates.

Does that mean if Brady plays in 2023 that it will be for love of his Bucs teammates, and not strangers on another team?

Buc fans living on borrowed time from Tom…….2023?……we’ll deal with that in 2023…..

Tampabaybucfan….. could agree more! Lets just enjoy the ride!

  3. #8 Says:

    Dear Tom,
Please call Suh. That is all.
    Love,

Here’s the thing. A guy retires at 35 or so and he has 10 years of mulling different things to do the rest of his life and create or enhance his brand. Brady is 10 years past that point. He’s five years further along in life than almost every famous QB that came before him. He wants to continue being great at something after his career is over. I get what he’s saying. He doesn’t want to retire and fade away into oblivion… so now he has to toe the line… multi-task… his time is valuable but he has so many different things in the fire.

  5. Mort Says:

I mean he’s right. It’s hard enough to work full-time and raise kids. Dude is trying to be Superman. Lots of respect for him and the sacrifices he makes.

  6. GOB Says:

Another 90%lie from the goat. I’m sure he loves his teammates. But, it isn’t the reason he’s still playing. In Tom vs. Time, he referred to his drive to win, almost like a mental illness. In his mind he’ll always be pick 199. We all think of Brady as supremely confident. But during his ten years without a Superbowl win, he went through a lot of self doubt. The fear of not having football in his life is what motivates him. That’s why I believe he’ll play, like he’s said, until he sucks. That day will come.

  7. Rob Hamada Says:

If Suh wants to play for $3-$4 million, then sign him up. If not, other DT can be had for the same or less.

  8. SOEbuc Says:

GOB football is a team sport.

  9. SPARKY Says:

If Giselle wants him to quit football so he’s home more, I don’t think it will work. Seems to me he’s gone more now than during the season. Seems like he’s some place different every day. At least during the season he’s home every night, except away game weekend.

  10. GOB Says:

SOE, of course it is. WTF does that have to do with my comment?

  11. Cobraboy Says:

I truly believe Tom Brady just loves football. And even with outside ventures, he will have a forever empty place in his heart when he no longer plays.

  12. Defense Rules Says:

Rob Hamada … ‘If Suh wants to play for $3-$4 million, then sign him up. If not, other DT can be had for the same or less.’

And exactly WHY are you so convinced Rob that your ‘other DT’ who can be had for $3 mil or so can contribute as much as what Ndamukong Suh has consistently shown he can contribute to our Bucs’ defense? Bucs probably paid Swaggy Baker more than that to hump palm trees back in 2017. Heck he’s only 34 right now; surely he’d be a lot better than old man Suh. Cheaper too.

  13. Beeej Says:

I’m sure a lot of these guys feel utterly lost without their teammates when they retire. If you know any military lifers it’s similar

  14. Buccos Says:

I read somewhere that it looks as if Suh isn’t coming back to the Bucs. That would be a big loss. Suh at 35 is still better than 90% of the DT’s in the league. He is going to follow the money though and after we sign Gronk I don’t know if we have room for another big contract.

  15. August 1976 Buc Says:

Suh is the main reason for the Bucs run D being Elite since he signed in 2019. If they can ink him to a deal, do it. If not oh well. But Suh has been the Rock on the Defensive line. Suh will have his bust the Hall of Fame one day.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  16. Its a Bucs Life Says:

Best era of Bucs football ever will be the Brady era. In two seasons (including the postseason) we’ve gone 29-10

To put that in perspective from 2010 to 2014 the Bucs won a total of 27 games…

    From 2015-2019 they only won 32 games…

2020-2021 the Bucs had their first ever back to back double digit win seasons and first ever consecutive playoff victories in consecutive seasons

Enjoy the ride Bucs fans we are not use to this

  17. GOB Says:

If Brady loves his teammates so much, just play for the vet minimum. That would leave plenty of funny money cap dollars to resign Suh, Gronk, Jarvis Landry, and OBJ. After all the Brady’s have more money than King Midas himself. Compounding interest is a beautiful thing.

  18. Buczilla Says:

We are so lucky to have this dude.

  19. Allbuccedup Says:

Enjoy this year while we know hes here. Its been a good two years the third time is a charm. Bowles gets his superbowl.

  20. bucsince79 aka bumaneer Says:

    Tb12 for 3 years is a miracle!!

  21. ChiBuc Says:

    @DR, omg, Swaggy Baker🤣🤣

Sure thought TB’s bromance (see pic) would bloom with Miller… here’s to a healthy toe and team love.

  22. Mybucsdontbucaround813 Says:

I’m super happy with the last two years of buccaneers football with the G.O.A.T. I mean we just spent 5 long hard years with Mr. 30/30 at the helm. 25 regular season wins and only 8 losses in two seasons plus a superbowl. At this point ’22 season is a bonus.

  23. JA Says:

    It’s amazing.
Brady is the slowest QB in the league. Runs about a two-year 40. He doesn’t have the strongest arm, nor does he throw a perfect spiral like the melodrama man in Wisconsin.
He’s far from the smartest person alive, but he most likely owns the best football mind of anyone who has ever played the game.
It’s all between the ears, folks.
And it’s a good life lesson for all endeavors …

  24. GOB Says:

If the Patriots weren’t notoriously cheap, Brady probably has one or two more rings. 06 is the glaring example, and in my view, his best season. He was throwing to garbage all year, and managed to get a 21-3 lead on Mannings colts, the eventual Superbowl winner. The slimy colts countered by turning up the dome temp, and pumping in fake crowd noise.

  25. RustyRhinos Says:

The Glazers should offer up a part ownership with Brady. He would get to stay in Football his “first love” and we as Buccaneer fans would still have a great big Peacock feather in our Pirate hats. Why would Brady not want to be a part of 5he Tampa ownership if he is really a that interested in being a dolphin part owner.
