“We’d Love To Have Leonard Back”

March 21st, 2022

“Lenny gotta take care of Lenny, TB.”

As Leonard “Lombardi Lenny” Fournette is enjoying winter while being courted by the Belicheats today, his general manager was yearning for his return.

“We’d love to have Leonard back,” Jason Licht said.

Licht added that the Bucs are still talking to their free agents, which Joe will translate as “Lenny knows how much we’ll pay him.”

The chess game continues.

“We’ed love to have Lenny back – for the right price and only a two year deal”

    FTFY

    lol.

  2. TDTB2022 Says:

Sony Michel will be signed by the Bucs minutes after Lenny signs with Patriots.

  3. Bucs&Bolts Says:

Love Lenny I see him coming back to Tampa

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Sorry Lenny, we gave your money to Russell…..

  5. Defense Rules Says:

It all depends on what Brady wants IMO. Right now the only RB under contract is Keshawn Vaughn. I know that some are excited to see what he can do; I think we’ve already seen what he can do. I’d rank him as our #3 or #4 back.

His rookie year Keshawn got to tote the rock a total of 26 times for 109 yds in 10 games, a lot of that in clean-up duty. Last season he got to tote it 36 times for 180 yds. That’s a nice average (5.0 YPC), but one of his runs was for 55 yds; remove that one run and his average dips to a paltry 3.6 YPC for the other 35 rushes. That’s Peyton Barber country.

Keshawn got even less work in the passing game. In 2020: 10 targets with 5 catches (50%) for 34 yds. In 2021: 8 targets with 4 catches (50%) for 26 yds. Bucs have had a total of 2,156 offensive snaps in his 2 yrs; Vaughn has been on the field for 210 of those (barely 10% with a lot of that in cleanup duty).

Sorry but BA can talk him up all he wants; not buying it. Bucs NEED Lenny for a Super Bowl run. Pay the man; he’s earned it.

You cannot pay big money to running backs in today’s NFL, even 6 million per year is too much for Lenny, I would love to have him back as well but the BUCS must make room for gronk and the draft class and resigning some of our dline guys

  7. ModHairKen Says:

RBs are not perceived as as important as edge Rushers, LT or WRs. I don’t understand why. Starting RBs touch the ball as many as 30x a game.

God I hope not. Sony is nothing special, he’s Payton Barber at best. If the Bucs do lose Fournette they’d be better off to just draft someone or wait until camp and see how becomes available.

    Trade for barkley

Barkley would be a $7.2m cap hit if the Bucs traded for him – so he’d have to do a new deal, and I doubt he would.

Also the bigger issue is health. Barkley has been injured, a lot, and last year when he played, he didn’t look good.

With that said, if the Bucs were able to get his cap hit down, and you’re talking about trading a 2023 5th rounder, then sure I’d take the chance. If he regains his earlier form he’d be an amazing addition to the team, plus he has natural hands and can really catch the ball well. But even if you got him, you’d still want someone else ready to go since you can’t rely on his health – so I doubt they’d go after him.

  11. Bucs Guy Says:

Bucs will sign a middle of the road RB $4M, draft a RB (probably 4th rd) and pick up a veteran for around the min salary or go with a UFA.

  12. Stone crab sam Says:

Lenny Lenny Lenny sign the man already.

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

We went out and got a receiver with Lenny’s money. So..go get paid Lenny.

  14. Mike pizzoli Says:

Sony Michel is not a great running back but he’s far from Peyton barber

  15. Stone crab sam Says:

No, we way overpaid an average industry standard cornerback with a golden grill with Lenny’s money.
    Go figure.

  16. Tom Sumner Says:

It comes down to .. If TD Lenny wants another RING or Money…period….

  17. Eddie Marz Says:

All I know is I rather have Lenny than Sony Michel. Lenny’s a bruiser, he makes the defense pay when he’s playing. 👍😂

  18. steele Says:

Eddie Marz, you and a lot of people seem to be hypnotized by the image of Lenny as a powerback bruiser. That hype has stuck since his “glorious” college career, and even through his failure seasons with the Jags. HE IS NOT A POWER BACK. He is a finesse runner, who is not decisive about hitting holes, minces around, goes down easily with contact, DOES NOT make a habit of breaking tackles, or exploding north-south. He does not punish tacklers. He’s not quick, not particularly fast, even in the open field (and he needs open field).

Lenny is an average to slightly above average back who needs a good offensive line. That’s it. He’s replaceable.

  19. Mike pizzoli Says:

Steele I couldn’t agree with you more, on 90 percent of Lenny’s carries he is indecisive and tip-toeing in the backfield. I would love to have him on the roster at the right price but saying he is a power back is absolutely incorrect

  20. AlvaFan Says:

Lenny’s a smart runner and picks up new techniques quickly. When he gets into the open field he shows good power and earns extra yards vs DBs. As far as this “tiptoeing” nonsense the best backs are the ones on the field. Plowing into DLs isn’t going to accomplish much except put you in the training room. Lenny is one of my favorite players. That being said considering the injury risk no RB is worth the risk of an 8 figure p/y salary.
