Tom Brady Returns; Kyle Trask Is A Huge Winner

March 13th, 2022

Winner.

Joe is fired up for Bucs second-year quarterback Kyle Trask.

Now that Tom Brady is coming back for his third Buccaneers season (it’s a miracle!!!), Trask can continue to develop under the Bucs’ many quarterback gurus and The Goat himself for a second season.

What could be more valuable to Trask?

Not much, but that value would be enhanced greatly if Trask finds a way to prove he’s better than Blaine Gabbert and becomes the No. 2 quarterback.

Also, Joe suspects Brady will not be attending Bucs spring practices this year (he skipped them late in his Patriots career), so Trask should have a fantastic opportunity to prove himself and for further development.

This is a win-win for the Bucs, who likely will need a quarterback at this time next year — unless Brady has yet another year in his old legs. Yeah, Joe’s dreaming big on this glorious Sunday.

That was the third item to cross my mind-
    1. Does this mean Gronk is back too?
    2. I wonder if Ali Marpet will reconsider retirement?
    3. I hope Trask will be the back up and see a little action!
    4. Licht And the bean counters need to get cracking!

  2. SB Says:

    @David
    Gronk will be back
    Marpet will be back
Trask will get even More valuable learning experience.

WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN for the BUCS!!!!!

  3. Tom Sumner Says:

    yes 2 all 4

  4. WalkdaPlank Says:

If Trask balls out in the preseason and goes through the season as #2 people aren’t talking about him next year like they were this year. It is a win-win.

Still can’t believe Tom is back.

  5. SKBucsFan Says:

Definitely good for Trask. I believe he will be the back up and will get a lot of reps in practice this year. That can only be good for the Bucs going forward. Definitely changes the plan for the next few days/ weeks.

  6. SB Says:

    Wait a minute…….DeShaun WHO?????

  7. Miller5252 Says:

Trask is a huge winner in all this. The NFL shop had a Brady signed jersey for over $250k sell. Can you imagine what someone would spend to have Brady coach them up for a year?!?! I just hope the young man sees the opportunity and doesn’t spend it playing online video games with his buds and does any and everything possible to learn from the greatest of all time!

  8. Brent Clark Says:

Ali Marpet should unretire as well… only makes sense!

  9. Mike C Says:

Every NO, Car, Atl fan is going “ahhhh @%$#” right now…… it is a good day, cheers Tampa!

    ……………

Great Point! However if you research Trask you will see that he has been a back up most of his career just waiting for ‘The Chance”. He got it and he seized it!. Almost won the Heisman. Best believe he is not taking his being on the bench as a punishment. It is an opportunity to him.

  11. Leighroy Says:

Mike C, Brady didn’t come back to win the NFC South. Aim higher!

  12. 1#bucsfan Says:

Breath easy Bucs fans the goat is here to save us. Rams n Bucs in champ game Bucs/chiefs or Bucs/bengals super bowl

  13. Noles Says:

Love how you pump out the stories.. thx Joe

  14. YucstoBucs Says:

Oh and @joebucsfan unlike all these whacked out insiders with all this nonsense they spewed for almost two months
why don’t enjoy some IPAs and take a day off tomorrow and enjoy it !! LFG

  15. Leopold Stotch/BuccaneerButters Says:

Just got a notification that Marpet will stay retired unfortunately

AND Aaron Rodgers just shat his pants for the third time today!

  17. Oxycodoms Says:

Big winner unless they resign gabbert which would means trask still needs training wheels

  18. Mike C Says:

No no Leighroy, no doubt as to what the goal is, I just savor the suffering of our division rivals…… and REAL patriot fans.

  19. gp Says:

Marpet didn’t retire because of Brady, It was his plan all along. If anything, he held off an extra year for Brady last year.

  20. TheBradyBunch Says:

Marpet texted T Katz tonight he’s excited Brady is coming back but he is staying retired.

  21. TheBradyBunch Says:

    T Kraz

  22. Miller5252 Says:

@SB I sure hope he does. Just like Karen Rodgers behind Farve, take this opportunity as a positive one and continue to learn. If I was Trask, I would be holding Brady’s pocket liner everywhere he goes to learn everything! 😂

  23. Mike C Says:

Listen up Buc Fans, we need Super Bowl effort from the 12th man this year, if you are at the game STFU on offense and absolutely lose your @#$% on defense!

  24. Tampabaybucfsn Says:

Need Cappa, Gronk & Lenny….don’t think we can afford Jensen also

  25. Kalind Says:

Trade this fool. Get what you can. Sign a slob for dirt cheap. Trask is more valuable as draft fodder than as a future QB in this league. We need to set up draft capital for next year to move up for a stud.

  26. HC Grover Says:

Hey Joe. Dunno if they got Bromosa at Octoberfest. Ya bettah bring it with. U are going to have so much fun. Munich Rocks it.

  27. gotbbucs Says:

    Ali Marpet isn’t coming back.

  28. Craig Says:

It is so so good to see this, but the team will be different.

I don’t think Marpet will be back. They say that O-line guys are the smartest football players and Marpet has proven this. He had a couple of concussions and won’t risk more.

The defense will be even younger, hopefully they will be a bump and run style, not a zone.

I think Trask has already drunk the TB12 juice and is in really good shape, he will be #2 this season, but won’t see action unless Brady is hurt, win or not is a question. Rogers spent 4 years on a bench.

  29. steele Says:

Trask needs the development time. If he isn’t worthy of starting by this time next year, we will be back here debating the same things. Whether Brady is retired or not (he’ll do it again), whether we should sign _____, or draft a new guy.

  30. LakelandSteve Says:

Hope Brady skips OTA’s too, not only will Trask benefit but it will be that much less stress on Brady’s arm.

  31. RandsABucFan Says:

fantastic ..the football GODS are smiling on the Buc’s

  32. SPARKY Says:

Are you doing all this work on your vacation in Vegas Joe? We don’t appreciate you enough, thanks a lot Joe

  33. Joe Says:

Are you doing all this work on your vacation in Vegas Joe?

Yes. But hey, when duty calls. Joe’s main responsibility is this here website. Thanks for the kind words.

  34. Beeej Says:

If they have to pay Vernon Hargreaves $47 and 12 cents per year in 2063 the Bucs will get everyone back

  35. firethecannons Says:

It is awesome opportunity for Kyle Trask, now that he is not a rook–expect him to get as much out of this as he can. Now what about Marpet–will he come back hopefully?

  36. adam from ny Says:

    kyle who?

    i’m just kidding…

if they go all in with tom this year, and then hit a rebuild, if tom leaves in what would potentially be his 4th year as a buccaneer in 2023 – i think fans will totally understand it – at that point i think most fans will now be conditioned to every year being his last – and a 3 year stint as a buccaneer is a fair amount of time for us bucs people to have had tom for – any more is simply icing on the cake…

and i think you do give trask his year as the starter once tom is out – if mgmt thinks he’s the guy…in 2022 he would have been thrown to the wolves, but if in a rebuild in 2023 we go with trask, so be it…fair enough…

  37. Bucs Win Says:

    The Traskophiles are so depressed.

  38. David Says:

I just don’t understand how in the world Tom is coming back. It doesn’t make sense. Bucks will not win the super bowl next year with Tom or without Tom anyway. Too bad we will not start getting this team ready for future by getting younger players and start Kyle Trask. We are just delay the inevitable to re-build.

  39. Itzok Says:

Give trask 3 preseason games to prove he is worthy of a roster spot. If not i never want to hear his name again

  40. Stone crab sam Says:

Without jpp and marpet, 20 million + get freed up. Coupled with expanded cap this year, many of our free agents can be signed without too many other contract restructues providing existing free agents don’t leave for big paydays which may happen anyway.
But that being said, we got the cornerstone. And we have great ownership proving to be essential.

  41. lambchop Says:

Ali Marpet has allegedly said he’s not coming out of retirement but will watch the games.

He has concussion related issues and laid out a plan well before coming into the NFL. The guy has bigger plans for his life. The draft has enough OGs. We’ll be fine. Time to get Jensen/Cappa on board, or go FA hunting.

I think Jensen will sign a 1 year contract with the Bucs, unless another contender with a set QB (Bengals) throws obscene money his way.

  42. lambchop Says:

    We need Playoff Lenny back!

  43. Tbbucs3 Says:

It’s certainly a win for Trask because he gets to hide for another year and not get exposed.

  44. Tbbucs3 Says:

    David.

Rebuilds are overrated my friend, they are not gaurrented to work and can get pretty ugly (See Jacksonville).

No offense, but the idea that you would suggest turning Tom Brady away is flat out stupid.

  45. adam from ny Says:

ownership got this one done overseas somehow…kudos to them…

honestly the schedule is quite daunting…

even with tom i see us at like 11 wins…

12 wins is a tall order next year…look at the schedule…

at this point, almost everyone on there is a playoff contender or better, outside of the divisional games

  46. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Hah! I called it! ROFL…just today I said he was probably returning to the Bucs this season, lol.

(pure luck I got that right)

  47. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    David Says
“I just don’t understand how in the world Tom is coming back. It doesn’t make sense. Bucks will not win the super bowl next year with Tom or without Tom anyway. Too bad we will not start getting this team ready for future by getting younger players and start Kyle Trask. We are just delay the inevitable to re-build.”

David, your belief that we should be rebuilding is where you messed up. We have many key positions that are young and very good. We do not need a rebuild just because we may not have had Brady.

To set your mind at ease…here’s a prediction for you: Ali Marpet will return for another year as well.

  48. Rod Munch Says:

Hey, I wrote the same thing without seeing this article. Good to the see the Joes are smart, like me.

Anywho, I still wonder if Brady would even know Trask’s name if he saw him in public.

  49. Buczilla Says:

I was looking forward to a rebuild with Trask, but those thoughts flew out of my head as soon as I read that Brady was back. Good times man!

  50. David Says:

Brady is great but he keeps pushing his luck. He is a game way from getting seriously injured. Life is short man. Enjoy your family. Why ? We were told that his wife wanted him to retire. I guess he can’t live without football which is fine with Bucks.

    Wait a minute…….DeShaun WHO?????

Lololololo so now we get to see Brady and the Bucs putting a beatdown on the Carolina or Saints with D Watson as their QB.
Hopefully he somehow ends up on another team outside the Division but most likely he is coming to the NFC South for many years to come. Just glad the Bucs got the GOAT back, at least for now.

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!
