The Sickness Cost Jason Licht Chance To Play Ric Flair

March 2nd, 2022

Bucs GM Jason Licht missed his chance to pull a Ric Flair.

It’s difficult for Joe to picture Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht rolling through the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis wearing a blinged-out bathrobe, ripping it open hollering at women to enjoy the scene and then yelling about stylin’ and profilin’ and how he’s a Rolex-wearing, limousine-ridin’, jet-flyin’ master of the male species.

Licht may have done that but never got the chance.

At the combine immediately after the Super Bowl, the general manager and the coach of the Super Bowl champs are traditionally treated like royalty. In fact, coaches get together and have the Super Bowl-winning coach come through a tunnel of coaches while they all stand and applaud.

Problem was for Licht and Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians, the combine was shut down last year due to The Sickness. So yesterday when speaking with the local pen and mic club at the combine, Licht confessed he didn’t get to fully enjoy winning a Super Bowl while attending the combine because there was no combine.

“I wish we had a combine last year so I could walk around like Ric Flair,” Licht joked. “But we didn’t get that opportunity.”

Still, winning is winning and the Bucs have been winning. That’s one reason Licht doesn’t want to use the R-word. He still thinks the Bucs can win.

“It has been great,” Licht said of winning 29 games the past two seasons. “It has been unbelievable. It has been great for so many people in this organization. players, coaches, owners, scouts, everybody. We just want to keep going. It fuels you to want to keep winning.

“We have won 29 games the last couple of years which has been great. It also showed us that unless you win the whole thing, you are never going to feel satisfied.”

At least for 2022, the Bucs are going to have to find a quarterback to keep winning. Yeah, the Bucs may win the sad NFC South without a quarterback because the division is so lame. But success after that without a quarterback, well, that’s not happening.

Nor is Licht, at least for the time being, going to be doing a Ric Flair stunt down the halls of the Indiana Convention center. Sadly. Joe would pay to witness that.

    Ric Flair’s promos were genius!!

Licht knows that was his last and only chance to parade around the combine. But he only spent money on the biggest reason for the asterisk superbowl. It’s not like he drafted and developed a QB that won.

Instead Sean McVay, the little weasel, gets to strut around like he owns the place. That should have been us!

Oh well I take consolation in the fact the Rams will be in salary cap hell sooner rather than later.

Interesting you bring up Ric Flair. The Tampa area is sort of ground zero for Wrestling. Hulk Hogan is from Tampa, and Randy “The Macho Man” Savage was from Bradenton. Andre The Giant lived here, and owned a restaurant on Hwy 41 in Gibsonton.
My youngest sister follows Wrestling to this day, even though she knows it is scripted.
LOL, she likes to look at the Wrestlers~!
Jason Licht just isn’t arrogant enough to do a Ric Flair imitation. But maybe he could borrow some arrogance from Bruce Arians ?

Joe keep thinking the NFC South is going to be a cake walk. Smh I love this team but I also know how we perform when we should crush an opponent. This is also the reason I wish that attached to each article was the name of the person that actually wrote it.

    Pompous loud-mouthed blond bimbo.

I believe the Bucs need to really fix the Secondary because their best opponents scored too often and too easily. You can’t continue to allow that. The second loss to the Rams is a perfect example. Comeback and then give it up at the very end. I’m not impressed with Carlton Davis. We can do better.
